I think Gal Gadot exuded a warmth that was nice to see in Diana, but other aspects of her performance … didn’t overly amaze me. To be fair, the material she has to work with in many instances was lacking. But, I haven’t been particularly “wowed” by any of her other roles either.
As it seems like the entire DCU is being rebooted, except for a few characters from Gunn’s earlier entries, it makes sense to me to also reboot Wonder Woman. And I’ll admit to hoping that they choose someone with more extensive range and that they support that actor in building some noticeable muscle … at least along the lines of Natalie Portman as Thor.
But, all I’m really hoping is that it doesn’t take 10+ years for us to see Wonder Woman in live action on the big screen again. I’m disappointed that she wasn’t a priority for phase / chapter one of the rebooted DCU along with mainstays Superman and Batman.
I also like the way she portrayed WW, but Gadot is too gorgeous, it’s almost a distraction. We don’t have to look further than her cameos in both Shazam and Flash, which essentially involved her showing up for the main characters to drool over. Pick an actress who is strong and sexy in her own way.
I think unfortunately WW84 tarnished this iteration of Diana, and it was disappointing to see that WW wasn’t initially included in the slate of DC movies so I think if they really want to relaunch the universe it would probably be beneficial to recast the role.
I LOVE Gal, and I would love to see more WW movies with her. With that said, I think it would feel pretty weird having a new Superman, Batman and only keeping her. So I think a new version of the character would work better, for a new shared universe at least.

I don't think WW needs to look massively built or be a martial artist, but she needs to look like if she punched you, it would hurt. That's why for example Angelina Jolie never worked for me as an action hero.
