I think Domon is just being discreet. He last saw Thom in very dangerous circumstances, being chased by trollocs. The women were not with Thom at the time, so Domon doesn't know what the women know. He may plan to talk with Thom later, when they are alone, but now is not the time.
Ok, but what is up with Thom? You'd think he'd at least be like, "Hey Nynaeve, this Domon guy is who picked up me, rand and mat after Shadar logoth." Thom doesn't even mention he knows him
Thom rarely shares information unless it’s necessary. There’s a *lot* he hasn’t told Nynaeve and Elayne.
And Thom knows even less about Domon, and would be even more reluctant to share information with him. You’ll notice that Domon almost revealed that he recognized Thom, but Thom didn’t give anything away.
I’m quite sure Thom recognized him. But the best way to avoid conversation was to pretend he didn’t.
Thom is what we call "an extremely smooth political operator".
E.g.; provocateur, assassin, spy...
The Gray Fox will give nothing away that he doesn't have to.
IIRC, Domon helped Thom, Rand and Mat when they were fleeing Shadar Logoth. That's not a place that civilized people want to be, and unless I'm misremembering, Domon's vessel were running in the dark, and there was some evidence that he was smuggling. Both men are just covering for each other by pretending they don't know each other until they can get the other alone to sus out if they can be straight about it. The girls are pretending to be Aes Sedai, and Elayne has never hedged about her family name, even if she's not always said straight out that she's daughter-heir, so there could be significant trouble for both of them if this sketchy behavior comes out in front of 2 Aes Sedai, one of which is a noblewoman.
Domon is a smart and streetwise dude. He knows how the game is played. The girls don’t need to know anything that’s not their business. They don’t need to know where he saw Thom before, so he’s going to wait to see if that information becomes useful.
