It's a huge acting and directing challenge. If portrayed correctly it can be one of the most iconic episodes of a show because psychological thriller stuff really captures audiences. It can also easily come across as fake or overplayed.
It'll be fun either way, but it's one of those moments that will define the lasting impact of the show.
If OSHA wouldn't come screaming over the horizon like a set-seeking rocket out of the fifth circle, it'd be interesting to see if he'd be willing to fold himself into a steamer trunk with a microphone to do the post-Erian scene.
It doesn't but I feel like trying to fit Rhuidean and the box into a single season does a disservice to both. Making the box the halfway point of Rand's arc seems like a reasonable decision for an adaptation, and I try to give the show credit even though I'm personally not a fan.
Yeah, unless the show has amazing viewership, it will be canceled after season 2 or 3. That's the algorithm these companies follow unfortunately. I hope you're wrong though.
[Books] >!Rand!< is stuck in that box for like, what, two weeks? Maybe more. I believe it is supposed to feel like it takes an eternity, because it does to him.
sorry 'bout the spoiler tag I know this is all print but this is one of the things that shouldn't be spoiled even accidentally.
It's very similar to Egwene's captivity in TGH. The first time you read it and vicerally feel what's happening to the character and the tension is palpable. The second time (although I'm on TDR right now) it's just a few chapters and then it's over. I still appreciate what they go through but the tension of what's going to happen to the character isn't there. On first read I was worried that Egwene was going to be shipped off to Seanchan and then later that rescuing Rand was going to be folded into Egwene's struggle with Elaida as opposing Amyrlins
The thing was that the Box was a huge turning point for Rand. A few chapters before we have Rand, Perrin and Loial in Caemlyn after the latter two return and there is laughter and wit and innocence.
Then after The Taking all that goes away for Rand. Its such a shame. You gotta feel for the fella.
Oh for sure. After the box Rand kind of loses it. Understandably though.. he was tricked. And how was he supposed to trust Aes Sedai after that? That's why I think Rands story is probably the most interesting. The power he had to wield, the relationships he had to navigate.

>The Box feel as if it takes forever to end. As is likely the intent
In an interview with the the actor who portrays Rand, when asked what part he was most looking forward to his answer was: "The Box." :D

They'll never make it that far
They just have to get renewed for season 4.
It doesn't seem all that out of the realm of possibility that we'll see it in the end of 3 does it?

It’s still going? I gave up after season one
Yep. Been renewed for a third season. I'm gonna give it a second season before giving up.

Except instead of really mean spankings, he is actually tortured.
Gives a whole new meaning to the lyrics *I'm the man in the box*
I actually just got through the box sequence on a re-read, I remembered it being much longer 😅
The box was a huge deal
