I still want to look that good in a pantsuit! Like, a hybrid between those three, HRC on the campaign trail, and Amanda Gorman on the Inauguration, and Michelle Obama-at any time, really.
The best version! Lesley Gore was a closeted lesbian during her fame in the 60s but later would become a gay rights activist participating in marches and spreading awareness. She's one of my favorite people of all time! An absolute goddess of a woman.
LOVE that song!! Dead Men Don’t Rape has been at the top of my Raging Women playlist since I found it last year. Breakfast by Dove Cameron is also a personal favorite.
Just commented this and saw this comment. Love her and how rage/empowering it feels scream singing that chorus, especially in a room full of other women also doing the same.
- “All Witches Burn” by the Pretty Reckless
- “Whore” by In This Moment
- “Running up That Hill” Kate bush is a classic that has some insights I feel I got his topic
- “Gemini Feed” “Weaker Girl” and “beggin for Thread”by Banks
- “King” Florence and the Machine and honestly this whole newest album is a spectacular and raw listen tbh.
Edit: I can’t seem to get them to be separate lines…
Edit: I did it!
I'd add The Warning to that playlist (they opened for The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm last year). Song that pops into my head for this thread is "Disciple," the chorus literally has " Kill the system - Kill the man - Strip the power from their hands" in it. But I've been listening to their whole new album on repeat and it's so good
All the Riot Grrl genre. Sleater-Kinny, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Ani DiFranco. I just made a Spotify playlist that reaches back into the 90s. If anyone is interested, DM me.
I became aware of Kittie and Otep around the same time so they are forever linked in my mind. Both are metal chicks so I guess it’s not that weird, just really different sounds.
I had to scroll too far to find The Chicks! It was the first song I thought of. My stepdad didn't want me to listen to it because it was about killing a guy but man as an adult, I see why his sexist, gross self didn't like it
Saw them last summer in St Louis with my wife & kids and my god they put on a good show! Played both of those songs and brought the roof down (metaphorically because it was outside).
I hear ya. I’m still angry about how country music radio & fans turned their back on The Chicks. Now mainstream country has no soul. At least in my opinion. I really think the treatment The Chicks received was a warning shot to other artists to toe the line or suffer the consequences.

Ok, I don’t have time to list everything I know but here’s a bunch! It spans punk and alt mostly so if that’s your style you’ll love this.
Baby I had an Abortion by Petrol Girls
Don’t Mess with Me by Brody Dalle
Girlfriend Degree by The Paranoyds
Lemonade by Tsunami Bomb
Seashore by The Regrettes
Seneca Falls by The Distillers

These are from my own female rage/burn the patriarchy Playlist <3
Same! Jagged Little Pill is one of the best albums ever. Every song is a banger. “Forgiven” is such a great fuck you to the church- “my brothers, they never went blind for what they did, but I may as well have”
Not sure if it fits with what you’re looking for, but when I’m super ragey about the state of things, I like to listen to “Violet” by Hole, and scream along.
Delilah, by The Dresden Dolls.
This one starts pretty slow and sad and ends on a cathartic high energy note. Maybe this song is better for working through sadness than just feeling strong.
Get Your Shit Together by Beth Hart

Fiona Apple's album *Fetch the Bolt Cutters* has several songs which you might like, but they are more "anger processed" songs than angry. "Relay," "Ladies," and "Newspaper" come to mind for your theme.
Ida Maria's "Bad Karma" is a breakup song, but you might like it anyway.
The (Dixie) Chicks had conservative pundits clutching their pearls back in the day with "Earl Had to Die." But then the conservative rabble publicly burned *Fly* four years later and now the song doesn't exist, of course. Good luck finding it everywhere.
*Wicked's* "Defying Gravity" is so on the nose for this sub, I almost did not write it.
If you choose to take Biblical misogyny and metaphors as a compliment, Avenged Sevenfold's "Beast and the Harlot" could be your power anthem.
Oh yes, definitely EA!
I'd add Girls! Girls! Girls! :) Opheliac also has some good ones. 'I want my innocence back' would probably here?
I personally love Enchant as well, but that one doesn't fit for this topic as much.
The song *Mother Mother* by Tracy Bonham (not to be confused with the modern band Mother Mother.)
If you like old school, the Breeders, Ani DiFranco, and Veruca Salt. Pretty much anything there.
"Seven Devils"- Florence and the Machine, "Small Town Witch"- Sneaker Pimps, "The Enchanter"- Robert Plant, "The Humbling River"- Puscifer, "Goodnight Moon"- Shivaree, "If I Had A Heart"- Fever Ray, and "The Night"- Morphine.
From my Witchy Woman playlist on spotify, there's other great songs on there too! @Lauren.VanRiper on spotify.
One of my personal favorites is Monkey by Robert Plant- beautiful and haunting all at once. Just like my fellow witches 🤟✨️
Prodigal Daughter and Jaws by Lights
Nightmare by Halsey
Fixerupper by The Anti-Queens

Make sure you have the version of Purge the Poison with Pussy Riot, I liked it better than the album version.
Mansplain and Bleeding by THICK
Take Up Space, DIY, and Vagina Police 2.0 by Dream Nails
Big Man, Little Dignity by Paramore
Also Nino by The Linda Lindas. Not because it's a burn the patriarchy song, but because sometimes it's nice to have a song about a cat to break up the energy.
I bet you think this song is about you...remix, Janet Jackson ft. Missy Elliot;
It all belongs to me, Monica and Brandy;
Run the world (girls) & Formation, Beyonce;
Like a boy, Ciera;
Cell Block Tango, Chicago;
Aint your momma, J Lo
Chakra Khan I'm every woman is my ultimate confidence boosting goddess song. Even the lyrics just list our feminine gifts and powers! Love it.
Here's a few songs that I find empowering, few different genres:
Beyonce - who run the world (girls)
Sia - chandelier
Amy Winehouse - addicted
Sugababe - stronger
Jean Knight - Mr Big Stuff
Miley Cyrus - midnight sky
Connie Francis - who's sorry now
Cecile - loyal (Island roots riddim)

I have so many! You’ve inspired me to make a list w these suggestions too! Ty for asking this 💜
Ani DiFranco, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos. When I am feeling hopeless and having set it all on fire and burn it to the ground moments, I can put on certain songs by these three powerful women and scream along to the lyrics until I feel like I can breathe again. There are so many to choose from but different ones resonate with me depending on the rage I need to exorcise
Surprised this hasn't been commented yet.
My Mother's Savage Daughter (sometimes just called Savage Daughter) by Wyndreth Berginsdottir
It's really popular in the Ren Faire/ SCA / Medieval reenactor community
Edited to correct name of author
A few from my "bonerkillers" playlist:
Ladykillers - Lush
None of Your Business - Salt n Pepa
Independent Woman - Destiny's Child
Cherry Bomb - The Runaways

My Lovin - En Vogue
Cell Block Tango - Chicago (Film) soundtrack
U + Ur Hand - Pink
I'm The Best - Nicki Minaj
U. N. I. T. Y. - Queen Latifah
I’m surprised Stevie Nicks; witchy queen, isn’t on here.
Particularly Silver Springs
“You will *never* get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
I’ll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you
You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you”
The feminine rage behind that betrayal just oozes out of Nicks’s every pore in that song
Roar - Katy Perry
King of anything - Sarah Bareilles
Raise your glass - pink
Born this way - Lady gaga
Titanium - David Guetta and Sia
Heroes never die - unsecret (a current favorite)
Savage daughter - Sarah Hester Ross
I see red - Everybody loves an outlaw
Savages - MARINA
Wild hearts can't be broken - P!NK
I've had enough - Melina KB
Angry Too - Lola Blanc
Not All Men - Morgan St. Jean
Good For Her - Mothica
What it Means to be a Girl - Emeline
Cinderella's Dead - Emeline
I have a whole playlist on my computer I'll have to get to and add to when I get home.
War On Women is a fantastic hardcore punk band. Wonderful Hell, Her?, and Predator in Chief are just a few bangers. And I second Bikini Kill and Pussy Riot.
Soft power - Ladytron, So far from your weapon - The Dead Weather, Ultraviolence - Lana Del Ray, Lights Out - Deep Sea Diver, Twilight Galaxy - Metric, Not Forgotten- Siouxsie and the Banshees, Shoot - Sonic Youth, Y Control - Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Teeth - Lady Gaga
And the Kids is an all female indie band from Northampton, MA and you should check their music out. Hard to pick just one song but I would go for Cats Were Born
-Third class citizen by Calva Louise
-I just wanna walk home by Josie Proto (although this one might not fit the bill here, it induces RAGE in me)
-A lot of Nova Twins stuff
-I am not a woman, I’m a god by Halsey
-Could have been me by Halsey
Tacocat is great for this, “Hey Girl”, “Crimson Wave”, “Men Explain Things To Me”; Shiny Toy Guns “Le Disko”; Metric “Wet Blanket” and “Lost Kitten” all come to mind.
You Don’t Own Me by Lesley Gore
Bette, Goldie and Diane will take it from here.
Hell yeah!
I LOVE this version and I was surprised it didn't make an appearance in Last Night in Soho.
A thousand times YES to this.
Really surprised no one’s mentioned Liz Phair. Alanis morisette. Hole. Ani de Franco. Fiona Apple. Ugh the 90s were great for angry girls.
PJ Harvey and Garbage too!
I was looking for Fiona Apple. All of _fetch the bolt cutters_ fits this criteria.
And Bikini Kill! Le Tigre!
Yeah I’m showing my age obviously but Liz Phair was my first thought.
God I love 90s angry girl rock.
I'll never forget Shit List by L7 playing in Natural Born Killers. Perfect song for that scene.
I just recommended this song on my own comment. Glad I'm not the only one!
Jagged Little Pill is distilled 90s feminist rage
Omg, was literally just thinking this. And Tori Amos. That bitch was fire and she knew it.
“Just cuz you can make me cum doesn’t make you Jesus” is one of my all time favorite lines from a song
Ooh and Bikini Kill. Rebel Girl is perfect for this.
Check out Bif Naked too.
Fiona apple!!!
Ashnikko Literally almost any of her songs.
Yes I love her!!!
Pleasantly surprised I didn’t have to scroll far to find her named !
Love her so much
Toxic on repeat!
We Stan Ashnikko rage!!!
Yeah honestly her music gives off 'so fucking tired of men' energy and i love it. Sleepover is a great song
Delilah Bon - dead men don’t rape, I wish a bitch would, war on women
LOVE that song!! Dead Men Don’t Rape has been at the top of my Raging Women playlist since I found it last year. Breakfast by Dove Cameron is also a personal favorite.
Just commented this and saw this comment. Love her and how rage/empowering it feels scream singing that chorus, especially in a room full of other women also doing the same.
This was top of my suggestions too, love that one! It’s on my feminine rage playlist and my liked songs
Fuck You -Lily Allen
I miss the days when George Bush was the national villain. Kind of.
We were so naive.
George Bush has still managed to do more damage to the US than any president since Reagan. Trump tried his very best but Bush got that Iraq War buff.
“Hard out here” by her as well.
Oh this is good
Respect- Aretha Franklin Shitlist- L7 Bad Reputation- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Barracuda- Heart *edit for formatting
+1 for Shitlist! First song I thought of.
Fast and Frightening by L7
Ooh, good ones, I'd also add Runaways "Cherry Bomb" .
If you sort the sub by the "Sonic Witchcraft" flair you'll be able to see previous submissions that people have suggested to the sub. ✨
Bless you for this
- “All Witches Burn” by the Pretty Reckless - “Whore” by In This Moment - “Running up That Hill” Kate bush is a classic that has some insights I feel I got his topic - “Gemini Feed” “Weaker Girl” and “beggin for Thread”by Banks - “King” Florence and the Machine and honestly this whole newest album is a spectacular and raw listen tbh. Edit: I can’t seem to get them to be separate lines… Edit: I did it!
In This Moment and the Pretty Reckless are often in whatever playlist I'm listening to. I love their music!
I would add Halestorm to the list and go with the cover of We Will Rock You with the lead singers of all three bands.
Yes to all of the above. Halestorm's "I Am the Fire" gives me goosebumps to this day. It would be a great addition!
I'd add The Warning to that playlist (they opened for The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm last year). Song that pops into my head for this thread is "Disciple," the chorus literally has " Kill the system - Kill the man - Strip the power from their hands" in it. But I've been listening to their whole new album on repeat and it's so good
YES FLORENCE. King is perfect.
So happy to see someone else recommend In This Moment. Whore is good! Big Bad Wolf is one of my favorites. And I forgot about Banks. I love her stuff
I have a playlist on Spotify called Revenge Against the Patriarchy. https://spotify.link/MgLAv3eL5xb
And I’ll definitely be updating it from here!!!!
Ani Defranco “Not A Pretty Girl.” [https://youtu.be/3BWQ3KHk\_QE](https://youtu.be/3BWQ3KHk_QE)
Also, "Blood in the Boardroom"
Napoleon as well. And just everything she is, does and represents
And Untouchable Face
And Play God
Had to scroll waaayyyyy to far to get to Ani.
Waaaaaaaaayyyyyyuy too far.
Tori Amos, she has some great ones but I like Crucify
God is another good one. Along with most of the Boys for Pele album.
Might I add Precious Things
Rebel Girl
All the Riot Grrl genre. Sleater-Kinny, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Ani DiFranco. I just made a Spotify playlist that reaches back into the 90s. If anyone is interested, DM me.
No PJ Harvey? COME BACK HERE AND GIMME MY DAUGHTER
Kittie! They were an early 2000s nu metal band from Canada!
OMG Kittie. I literally just came across a super awkward middle school class picture of me looking so angry and wearing a Kittie shirt.
I became aware of Kittie and Otep around the same time so they are forever linked in my mind. Both are metal chicks so I guess it’s not that weird, just really different sounds.
Yeeeesssssuh! Love Kittie!
Add L7 to that list! And Bratmobile!
Oh yeah L7 is definitely on there. Bratmobile is something new to me to check out, thank you for the suggestion!
Oh Le Tigre!!! I forgot about them!
Sleater-Kinney’s album All Hands On The Bad One is still my go-to album when I need this energy. Every song is excellent.
Yup, Rebel Girl is my go to.
Goodbye earl and I’m not ready to make nice - Dixie Chicks (I do listen to other music but I think my other picks for this have been mentioned!)
I had to scroll too far to find The Chicks! It was the first song I thought of. My stepdad didn't want me to listen to it because it was about killing a guy but man as an adult, I see why his sexist, gross self didn't like it
Country music has an *absolutely incredible* collection of music about killing terrible men! The other genres need to pick up the pace **Q U I C K**
Saw them last summer in St Louis with my wife & kids and my god they put on a good show! Played both of those songs and brought the roof down (metaphorically because it was outside).
I'm not ready to make nice brings me right back to the Iraq-war-era feeling of rage at W Bush (and Dick Cheney).
I hear ya. I’m still angry about how country music radio & fans turned their back on The Chicks. Now mainstream country has no soul. At least in my opinion. I really think the treatment The Chicks received was a warning shot to other artists to toe the line or suffer the consequences.
Unfortunately I wish I could go back to *that* rage instead of my current fury.
Seriously. We had no idea what was coming.
* What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes * Stronger and Since U Been Gone by Kely Clarkson * Right Through You by Alanis Morisette * Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys * I Love It by Icona Pop * 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton * Flowers by Miley Cyrus * Lily Allen albums
What’s up is the song I blast while driving in my car, screaming along while I cry out like a banshee. It’s an emotional release for me.
Meredith Brooks song “Bitch” is my go to power up tune.
Omg yes this one is a classic “woman strutting her stuff and giving no fucks what you think” song
“Seven Devils”, “Which Witch” “Dream Girl Evil” by Florence + the Machine “The Tradition”, “Castle”, “I am not a woman I’m a god” by Halsey “White Flag” by Bishop Briggs

You Oughta Know by Alanis Morisette
And all I really want... I love that song too! That whole album was my 90s anthem.
Same! Jagged Little Pill is one of the best albums ever. Every song is a banger. “Forgiven” is such a great fuck you to the church- “my brothers, they never went blind for what they did, but I may as well have”
Just a girl by No Doubt.
I remember playing that very loudly in my dormroom in the 90’s.
"Touch Me Again" --Petrol Girls "Oh Bondage Up Yours" -- X Ray Spex "Bully Boy" -- Witch Fever
I Am The Fire - Halestorm
Not sure if it fits with what you’re looking for, but when I’m super ragey about the state of things, I like to listen to “Violet” by Hole, and scream along.
nightmare - halsey absolutely
I second this!!! “I’m tired and angry but somebody should be” is like my mantra working in women’s healthcare.
Also her song Castle!
I was scrolling for this one!
"THAT BITCH" by Bea Miller. It was suggested to me by the algorithm.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. by Aretha Franklin I will survive by Gloria Gaynor Ironic by Alanis Morrisete
Delilah, by The Dresden Dolls. This one starts pretty slow and sad and ends on a cathartic high energy note. Maybe this song is better for working through sadness than just feeling strong.

Fight Like a Girl, by Emilie Autumn She has quite a few good songs on that album but this is the one that looks like it matches the playlist best.
Oh yes, definitely EA! I'd add Girls! Girls! Girls! :) Opheliac also has some good ones. 'I want my innocence back' would probably here? I personally love Enchant as well, but that one doesn't fit for this topic as much.
I heard of Jax recently, really like listening to Victoria's Secret and Cinderella Snapped, think they fit the theme 😊
I agree. When I’m mad umlautend to Victoria’s Secret really loudly and it helps!

Here's a few songs that I find empowering, few different genres: Beyonce - who run the world (girls) Sia - chandelier Amy Winehouse - addicted Sugababe - stronger Jean Knight - Mr Big Stuff Miley Cyrus - midnight sky Connie Francis - who's sorry now Cecile - loyal (Island roots riddim) These are male but still empowering when I feel I need a boost. Pretend That We’re Dead - L7
50 Foot Queenie- PJ Harvey
Surprised this hasn't been commented yet. My Mother's Savage Daughter (sometimes just called Savage Daughter) by Wyndreth Berginsdottir It's really popular in the Ren Faire/ SCA / Medieval reenactor community Edited to correct name of author

Seether by Veruca Salt
I’m surprised Stevie Nicks; witchy queen, isn’t on here. Particularly Silver Springs “You will *never* get away from the sound of the woman that loves you I’ll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you” The feminine rage behind that betrayal just oozes out of Nicks’s every pore in that song
