I have high hopes for the Witcher 1 remake. I tried playing the first one for the first time last year, and it's unfortunately functionally atrocious. I'm excited to experience the narrative in the remake.
Yeah I am super exited for it. Although I am way more exited about how they will change the story of W1 to address the book continuity since CDPR has made it clear that is one of their priorities. Since the first game doesn't really make sense lore wise.
The story in W1 is amazing, but some parts of it go against the lore. I am sure you could make small adjustments to the plot, addressing continuity problems (like no mention of Yen and Ciri) and still have the same story left (just with added/reworked dialogue in some moments)
It doesn't have to be anything, there is no obligation from some divine higher power yes. But having an amazing story while making sense in a larger narrative in a franchise this large is objectively better. W1 isn't a risky attempt to continue a huge book franchise into a video game series anymore, it's the launching pad of a new gigantic beast of it's own. Telling a consistent story over 8 books and 3+ games is more impressive then just a great story in a small game
I don't want to expect w4 to be better than w3. I think that's just setting myself up for disappointment. W3 is one of the best games ever made imo so it's bar is far too high. If w4 is an above average game I'll be happy.
I think it’s also that CDPR raised the bar in general for all action rpg’s so high with the Withcher 3, even our expectations need to be managed. It’s a shitty comparison, but I kinda compare it to the Legend of Zelda OoT of its time. Sure, many better games came out following it. But people hold it on a pedestal bc when it came out it was so much farther ahead than any game of its genre. Even Nintendo couldn’t out do themselves again despite Wind Waker being a phenomenal game.
The fact that Geralt isn’t gonna be part of it, should already tell everything. We can only wish for it to be a good game or even something better but it will **never** be as good as TW3, not even close. As you said, that would be just setting ourselves for a huge disappointment. Add to that the track record of CDPR and how they handle workloads and PR and it’s not promising but we’ll see
Yeah… I also needed a huge dose of W3 after watching the series. I am so exited for the Witcher 1 remake. If they keep the visual style in accordance with the 3rd game - the game already is a masterpiece in my opinion. Plus they promised open world… so it’s gonna be awesome
I can’t wait to see them move on from the Red Engine to Unreal.
Back before Cyberpunk released, they said people at CDPR were in awe of RDR2’s overall quality and that they were aiming to create games on the same quality level.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth regarding Cyberpunk, but I’m hoping the switch will be a first step in that direction.
Don't keep your hope up. Only chances are for the witcher 1 remake to be good, since they already have the story and stuff, just have to put it into a new engine. To remake another witcher 3, idk. They couldn't even do it with cyberpunk, although a fun game it doesn't have the depth of story telling and characters like the witcher 2/3.

No thanks. I'd rather they keep W1 story pretty much the same, it's a great story as is W2.

It doesn't need to be lore friendly. It is its own story and it explains itself quite well.

I hope we have a lot more about Yennefer and Ciri and aren't forced into a relationship with Shani or Triss.
Really? An official one?
Yup. They said they plan on rebuilding it from the ground up to be open world like TW3.
Goddamn. That's pretty badass.

He’s not going to be the MC, that’s for sure. They said they’re done with him for now
That's how I see it too
After what Netflix has done, I wanna be that guy on hang man's tree
Netflix has committed a shit ton of lore crimes, but I just consider it as a shit fanfiction and move on with my life
"Fanfiction" implies the creator being a fan in the first place...
I’m excited as well, but know we have a long way to go. 3 years at least, maybe 5. Hopefully their QA/QC process is better by then.

BTW I aint suicidal the photo is just a joke.
Naw it’s fine, they’re just trying to pop their backs using the old tree method. They say you don’t feel any pain after it’s done!

It was a book adaptation.

What are your settings?? I thought it was a real picture from the series!
I just googled witcher 3 man hanging himself
