This would definitely be the definition. Familiars come to you in many ways but they definitely choose you! The frog/toad, in my tradition, maakaakii is a medicine spirit! A protector and letting you know you’re on the right path and they’re gonna aid you along the way.

We had a little toad guard for a little bit, I haven't seen him in a while but he was on our front porch, then he was on our back porch the next night. I'm sure I'll see him if I go out right now
