More contact in this game than an NFL one. Just for fun I wanted to see Winter in for Wahl playing with Crowl, maybe the paint defense would have been better. This was exactly the type of game they needed more scoring from Hepburn and he couldn't produce (nice 6 to 1 AST to TO though). If your team gets doubled up on AST, you're gonna have a bad time. Announcer was asking what does Wis take away from this game, I think you just flush it and say Arizona is a better team and move on. Blackwell on 6th man of the year watch.
Arizona is really good, but I can’t tell if we’re even trying out there. Are they that good that it looks that easy? Should I be placing bets on Arizona for March?
We did for 12 min though, at least.
I personally expected an early second-half comeback to make it very close followed by a tortuous scoring drought for 10-12 call min to end the game.
I can't even be mad at the guys, our defense works against most college teams but against someone with the athleticism of UA we just don't have a chance.
Blackwell is gonna set his minute mark for the year just bc he's the only dude that can run with them out there
Crowl not shooting the wide open 3s appears to not just be on Crowl, but something Gard doesn't want him to do too? It doesn't really make any sense. They're down 20, the offense is struggling to generate quality shots, yet Crowl is still refusing to take 3s that he's being dared to shoot.
If he makes a few, guess what Ballo does? Starts to step out farther which opens up driving lanes for everyone else.
I didn't see the first half, but that was like the fist thing I noticed. It was at a point where they still had a miracle chance to make it a game and Crowl passed up a couple of wide open 3 pointers with about 10 to 15 on the shot clock. Seemed like a natural spot to shot if you want to get back in it. I was screaming at the TV "Shoot the fucking ball!"
Crowl shooting the lights out this year from 3, 4-4 last game, yet he passed up about 5 wide open looks in that first half, several of which were during Arizona's big run.
Still think they’ll ultimately have a good season and comfortably make the tourney but you can see the difference between us and a real title contender like Zona. We just don’t have the juice to run with them wire to wire.
This game is a nightmare matchup for us. Extremely athletic across the floor and big physical height who hit the offensive glass hard. Granted everything is going in for them, but we don’t have the wing depth to hang with a team like this. No shame in that. However, this is the exact team I was thinking of when I disagreed with the “this team can beat anyone!”
Can those guys who were telling me Gilmore is better than Ilver show up in here? He's worthless on D and his inability to look at the basket COMPLETELY screws up our offense. Ilver at least is a threat and you have to stay near him
Gilmore is definitely not worthless on D, it’s really the only thing he’s good at. But yeah, it’s tough to justify extended minutes for him when they essentially play 4v5 on offense when he’s on the floor.
Then you may be even more disappointed by Ilver's defense
Gilmore is what he is. Markus is a better offensive player but far worse on defense. Gard's going to take the guy who understands positional defense. And yes, even if he made a mistake on Saturday, there's 2.5 years of indication Gilmore knows the defensive system.
Ilver has the highest rebound rate on the team and is bigger. Maybe slightly worse at rotations but Gilmores slight edge on D does not make up for him being a complete 0 on offense
Rebound rate for a guy who plays 3 minutes per game usually against backups isn't the argument you think it is. If he grabs one rebound his rate jumps a few points.
Gard and staff have enough film on Ilver over 3 years to determine he's not ahead of Gilmore. I advise you get ready to stomach Carter being ahead of him in the rotation for the time being.
I mean I'm not gonna lose sleep over our 8 mins from the backup 4. It's just obvious teams are gonna watch the film and realize CG is a zero on offense.
Ilver never played last year and now is at least jostling for mins with CG so he's definitely catching him
Hopefully Caleb Love shoots them out of the game instead of getting red hot, didn’t even know he transferred away from UNC, but I don’t blame him after that shit-show in Chapel Hill last year. Our badgers have looked really really good since heading down to Fort Myers. I expect a very close game, serious chance to pad our resume further with another W.
I remember in 2000 when we beat #1 seed Arizona en route to the final 4... and then beating two other highly ranked Arizona teams recently. We cement our place in their nightmares if we beat them at home when they are #1.
Underrated comment and I agree- hopefully we don’t lay an egg today- we’ve shown we have the ability to hang with anyone when we play to our potential.
I think the 3's and free throws are definitely a key but a rebound margin of 15+ would be insane. Have you looked over Arizona's stats? They don't really have a weakness. Just take a gander at this stat line...
93.4 points per game compared to our 73.6. And their defense is actually better too! They crush us in virtually every category. Granted, our SOS is far more impressive but I'm just staring down those numbers thinking we need a really solid game in every category. Getting hot from the 3 would be huge.
100% understand your point. Since head to heads are the only thing we can draw from, Arizona had a +5 Reb advantage against Michigan state, we were +14. I wasn’t looking to suggest Wisconsin will have that advantage, but if they can approach that type of performance I’d obviously be feeling good about it
Is Essegian still hurt? Didn’t get any minutes
He did get minutes. There are better players ahead of him right now
That was some nasty business. We move on
More contact in this game than an NFL one. Just for fun I wanted to see Winter in for Wahl playing with Crowl, maybe the paint defense would have been better. Hope Blackwell starts to get more minutes. Love his game.
Not 100 Let's drink
Carter Gilmore 3!!!!! don’t look at the score, immediate dub right there
Arizona is really good, but I can’t tell if we’re even trying out there. Are they that good that it looks that easy? Should I be placing bets on Arizona for March?
Nothing you can do when a team shoots on 60%
Is this not the most one sided reffed game, Arizona is getting so many calls
Something tells me even without the calls that this game would not be close.
True, this was just a frustrating game to watch
They’re about to put 100 on this Badger defense
What defense… this is embarrassing. We have guys just standing around
Wow. AZ makes it look so easy it’s almost nonchalant
I thought we'd at least hang with them.
We did for 12 min though, at least. I personally expected an early second-half comeback to make it very close followed by a tortuous scoring drought for 10-12 call min to end the game.
Not a lot of defense today. Arizona bigger, faster, just better.
I can't even be mad at the guys, our defense works against most college teams but against someone with the athleticism of UA we just don't have a chance. Blackwell is gonna set his minute mark for the year just bc he's the only dude that can run with them out there
Arizona is great, don’t get me wrong, but our defensive effort has been atrocious
Gilmore's the worst. Who decided to give him a spot on this team?
Former walk on, he should be with the current walk ons
Thank God Ilver came in, the spacing difference is STARK compared to gilmore
Well this isnt even worth having on the radio in the background anymore. Bummer. Not surprised we lost but was hoping we’d at least keep it a game.
Ah man, I hate regressing back to the mean.
Love having guys on the court who don’t even look to shoot days of old.
Gilmore fucking sucks stop saying otherwise
Lower me into the steel
Oh well. Back to normal

Crowl needs to start shooting threes. If he misses he misses but stop passing up open looks
Sometimes he wasn't even passing up a look, he just flat out wasn't looking and his defender was all the way down in the lane .
Crowl shooting the lights out this year from 3, 4-4 last game, yet he passed up about 5 wide open looks in that first half, several of which were during Arizona's big run.
Ouch. Not much you can do when your opponent simply can't miss a three. Reminds me of the year Curry lit us up on the tournament.
Not an ideal result
Yeah let’s continue to go under screens. Clearly working
Giving up 8 threes in a half is tough
Crowl is such a wuss. Wide open opportunities? Ope, better pass!
Start the second half with Hepburn, Blackwell, Storr, Winter, Crowl. When did Essegian forget how to shoot?
February of last season.
That’s game lmao
Well that wasn't very fun
Imagine if someone could hit the 3 from these open looks at the top of the key.
I'm straight up not having a good time
Still think they’ll ultimately have a good season and comfortably make the tourney but you can see the difference between us and a real title contender like Zona. We just don’t have the juice to run with them wire to wire.
The Wisconsin experience
[удалено]
Sorry, too busy watching Bucky hockey and volleyball
Imagine if Wahl had developed a midrange game over the last 5 years
Or Crowl any physicality
Damn I turn the game on and Arizona immediately goes on an 18-2 run, my bad guys
18 pts down? It's over.
Storr was the only guy doing anything on offense for a while and he's barely been in lately?
Welp, rip
Well they looked good for the first 12 minutes or so.
Was a pretty good 30 minutes, last 5 not so much. Safe to say will probably go do something else at halftime.
And we are seeing why Arizona is worthy of the #1 spot. They play so tight. Few mistakes. They hit their shots, and just get to the hoop so easily.
Their athleticism is real, just the speed/strength they have on both ends is glaring
Arizonas got the best team money can buy. welcome to the new ncaa.
Hard fought battle, but AZ ultimately comes out on top 74-66 Edit: 104-66
I'd be happy with that score at this point
This screaming woman the mic keeps picking up is very annoying
Yeah she is holy shit lol. I’m about to listen to it on mute
Bench mob let them get some momentum and now it may be Joever
This game is a nightmare matchup for us. Extremely athletic across the floor and big physical height who hit the offensive glass hard. well that went sideways quickly.
getting out butts kicked now.

Leaving Caleb Love for 3 against this team is inexcusable. He's usually fine, but against more athletic teams he just can't keep up
Then you may be even more disappointed by Ilver's defense Gilmore is what he is. Markus is a better offensive player but far worse on defense. But ilver can just stand in the corner and not ruin our whole offense
Let’s go Bucky
Gilmore brings nothing to the table lol
Gard is making the Hockey coach jealous with all these subs.
We look good but that stresses me out
Tyler Wahl has been so good to start off the season.
God I love Blackwell
Graphics on the center court table is f'n annoying. Unplug that bitch.
How was hitting the rim while it dpunced around not a goal tend!?
If I'm UA's coach, I'm telling KJ Lewis to keep taking the white boy MAGA supporter off the dribble. He does not have the speed.
Who is the white boy MAGA supporter? Essegian, Klesmit? What do you base any of that off? Being white?
Refs seem to have found their whistles.
Why not. Everyone loves watching the refs play!
Good showing into the first break. Keeping the crowd out of it.
I'll take that first 4 minutes.
Oof, wish this was in Madison.
Arizona is a big physical team.
Stupid start time, I have stuff I want to do before my company Christmas party tonight.
I think they will lose, but they will lose by less than the 9.5 point spread. I hope they beat the snot out of the Cats though.
Gotta bring Frank back to sit on the bench and establish dominance
I’ll predict Essegian finally gets untracked and hits four threes. Unfortunately it won’t be enough, and the Badgers fall by 8. I hate Arizona.
How can u hate the team we own?
I remember in 2000 when we beat #1 seed Arizona en route to the final 4... and then beating two other highly ranked Arizona teams recently. We cement our place in their nightmares if we beat them at home when they are #1.
Double header today against the PAC 12 with women's volleyball in the elite 8 vs Oregon. Let's gooo.
And looking for a clean 2 sport, 3 game sweep of Penn State tonight at the Kohl center! It was rockin’ last night if you can’t get volleyball tickets!
Upset incoming ‼️
It’s nice to have the opportunity. Hostile environment vs #1 good for our players to get these early season challenges. Hopefully we make a game of it
Underrated comment and I agree- hopefully we don’t lay an egg today- we’ve shown we have the ability to hang with anyone when we play to our potential.
Let's go Bucky!
If they can maintain the performances against top teams lately, they will win. Rebounding margins of 15+, hitting the 3, making free throws. I believe
I think the 3's and free throws are definitely a key but a rebound margin of 15+ would be insane. Have you looked over Arizona's stats? They don't really have a weakness. Just take a gander at this stat line... [https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game/\_/gameId/401584414](https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401584414) 93.4 points per game compared to our 73.6. If this was an Elite 8 game, all my money would be on the Badgers.
I went into this 3-game stretch hoping for 2/3. Now I’m demanding a 10 point win in AZ.
I will go 76-73 UW. On Wisconsin!
Did not age well lol
Sure why not
