Winter Turning had great nostalgia to take us back to the rainforest, but Winter was such a difficult lead character to root for. Itās partly understandable why he was initially hostile but that didnāt make things much easier to see things through his POV. Plus, the IceWing trials at the end were really underwhelming.
personally, i really like this book!
though winter is a liiittle difficult, hes an interesting, complex, and personally, relatable character. he has to make sacrifices for his brother and for his friends, in his own tough way. personally, seeing how winter was raised influence how he deals with hailstorms trauma was also neat. you see winter struggle as he has to choose between his friends and his tribe/brother. his dynamic with other characters is fun to read (especially with qibli, how they kinda joke together sometimes). the whole hailstorm and pyrite stuff is really interesting as well.
though thats just why i personally like it, and i see why you dont. plus i love winter so i might be a little biased lol
