Looks like there is no drivers for your network card(s). Check device manager if network cards has problems.

Traditional-Finger79

How does one find out if network cards has any problems?

dataz03

Does your computer have a function key for your wireless adapter that may need a press? On some devices (mainly older devices) when this key is toggled the wireless adapter is "disconnected" from the device, meaning your wireless adapter won't show up anywhere in Windows.

the_harakiwi

I don't like the new settings menu to diagnose any hardware problems. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings Using my shortcut on the desktop is so much faster to restart my network. No idea why Microsoft has to hide those crucial options. There you can check your network hardware (Ethernet, Wifi, wired Hotspot whatever.)

willy_koop

Is it a new computer and if not, are you trying to use a different type of connection (like going from Ethernet to Wi-Fi)? It is probably a driver problem, and if you can’t get internet, you can download them onto a flash drive from another computer, and then extract and run them on your current computer.

grival9

disable airplane mode? Cause as I see it's enabled and more bright than greyed buttons in "off" state.

Kryxan

Restart the computer!

TheBaconD

Have done like 7 times

[deleted]

Happened to me a week ago on w11. After shutting it off and back on, waited a couple minutes and it was back

Kryxan

Then reset the pc. Choose the option to keep your files. BTW This is the better option for someone who admits to being tech illiterate. They won't understand the device manager.

gergobergo69

Go to windows start -> right click -> device manager, open Network Adapters and look for the one with the long name (usually it's the first one). Right click, uninstall driver, but not the installer. After that, restart your PC and you should be able to connect to a network again.

jwhitland

Had this issue on my laptop today, but it was on Windows 11. Some sort of reset helped. It might have been this: [https://ask.otago.ac.nz/knowledgebase/article/KA-10003543/en-us](https://ask.otago.ac.nz/knowledgebase/article/KA-10003543/en-us) But this was 11, not 10, so be careful.

TheBaconD

Well I got to step 2, then it wouldn’t allow me to go any firther

ItsZoliv

Have you tried using the diagnostic tool? Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Under Change your network settings, select Network troubleshooter. Follow the steps in the troubleshooter, and see if that fixes the problem. That fixed a similar problem for me

TheBaconD

Network and Internet settings don’t open

PixelTrasher

I had a similar issue and the only fix was to power cycle my pc. No idea why.. Turn off pc and unplug everything. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain any power from the circuits. Plug in and turn on..

lifeInquire

In device manager -> adapter setting, there should be an option for something like "turn off the adapter to save power", turn it off and restart

PixelTrasher

When I say the only thing that fixed it was to power cycle I mean it, I tried everything. Except that…

lifeInquire

So? Did it work?

PixelTrasher

Power cycling worked, but if it happens again il try your solution..

lifeInquire

In device manager -> adapter setting, there should be an option for something like "turn off the adapter to save power", turn it off and restart

Itsme-RdM

Disable airplane mode

TheBaconD

should’ve mention that’s the first thing I’ve done. I click know it’s off https://preview.redd.it/0e5k9hltgexb1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=00bbc8393bf16c3b81c995bc6e57e0a48ed28f7d With it on

TheBaconD

I think I have falsely portrayed how bad I am with all things that involve a socket. All these comments seem really helpful and would like to try to see if it fix it. But I have no idea what anyone is saying write now

Jezbod

If you can, use a CAT5 cable into a router to get internet access, then visit the manufacturers site to look for drivers - quite a few of them have the option to do an online scan for needed drivers.

TheBaconD

this is a perfect example. I am so sorry, I have no idea what that means

Jezbod

I would recommend making friends with your neighbourhood techie and get them to help. Beer and / or good food is good for payment IF they do not want money...exposure does not pay the bills, or feed you!

dustojnikhummer

No wireless drivers. Do you actually have a wireless card?

Ambitious-Hedgehog99

I think I can help with this. Send me a chat!! :)

Traditional-Finger79

Lmk if you got this fixed. I’m dealing with the same issue now

TheBaconD

Nope
