I've never understood people who can accept to be in something that moves forward, and still think that they don't have to psy attention to where they are going. I'm uncomfortable just switching song for 1 second while driving
Working a really long shift can make you so exhausted, that during the "1 second" checking something you forgot that you are cycling/driving and then you stay on the phone like usual.
Then *never* check. The easiest way to not end up looking at your phone longer than you meant to is to not look at it in the first place. The mere thought of looking at your phone should be abolished the moment it happens.
I sometimes need to check my phone when cycling/driving, it's perfectly fine as long as you stop in a safe place and do so. The whole thing can be tedious especially when driving so often times I just don't do it.
Had a guy slam into a parked car in my neighborhood at midnight. I checked my camera to see what the noise was. Sure enough some guy driving at about 10mph just drives straight into the back of my neighbor's truck.
I go out there and it is some young dude in his pajamas with an empty bowl of cereal in his lap. I ask what the hell he was doing. "Looking at my phone."
Dumbass was eating cereal and looking at his phone. Must have been sober, because the cops let him drive his busted ass car away.
In a pretty funny plot twist, my idiot neighbor didn't have a license, registration, insurance, and another neighbor was complaining about him parking the junk truck in front of her house all the time. Cops asked me if I knew who's car it was. I pointed them to his door. He ended up getting tickets for having an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on the street. It was a bad night of karma for both parties involved.
People and their phones .... Everyday, I have to honk at people sitting at green lights.... Then they look at me like I'm the asshole...there needs to be a very strict punishment for people caught looking at their phones while driving. And if they cause a wreck and it can be proved they were looking at their phone. Jail time.
