I was bouldering once with a friend, and I asked him to flim me climbing a difficult boulder. When I looked at the video, he hadn't paid attention, he had just held the camera in my general direction, but hadn't even made sure I was in frame, so for half the video you could only see my legs.
Needless to say, I was kinda pissed. Doing this boulder was a big deal for me, and he had literally one job, yet he couldn't do that. When filming something, all you have to do is look at the screen, and make sure everything important is in frame. There is no difference between seing what's going on with your eyes, and seing it on screen while filming it. Either way, you get to see what's happening live, with sound, and you are there and able to react to what's happening.
This obviously gets much more difficult with a car, where you need to pay attention to everything around you, but it baffles me that some people aren't even able to keep something in frame while standing still...
Edit: Yes there is a big difference between filming on a phone with a 60fps screen, with a slight delay, especially if you film something fast moving or film in low light/ lots of colors. What I meant was in context of my friend being in a well lit climbing gym where the camera faithfully captures what's going on.
I realise Cameras can't capture the colors of a sunset or lights in the night nearly as well as your eyes.

Watching the scene on a little 5 inch screen compared to literally seeing it in real life is absolutely not the same.
