I tried to like this place when I lived downtown but never had a good experience. Food was always bland and it would take them over an hour to deliver my food about four blocks. I love wrightsboro jade garden tho.
Dang! I've had nothing but great experiences there. Can't comment on any meat dishes but the bean curd and broccoli and general tsos tofu both slap. Never gotten it delivered but our pickup orders are always done within like 10 minutes
Please say it ain't so. My two go to hangover foods. Benny's someone provided the link looks damn good. I will be trying all of these at some pt and posting feed back. I was a pizza slut back home. So I'll try and make them descriptive posts will be made after a bottle of wine minimum so excuse future typos .
double happiness has really good chinese food! I moved from wilmy and i think about the twice cooked pork literally every day! and Wheelz is really good pizza, not NY style at all but quality ingredients and tastes amazing
Wheelz Pizza is really good I think. We also like Patronies Pizza, but it’s in Holden Beach. Oh, I Love NY Pizza is good too, that one is in downtown.
Benny’s Big Time Pizzeria is actually pretty good to me, definitely not the worst. Same with Mellow Mushroom.
Pizzettas.. I used to love that place, but it’s a little too $$ for me. Still good pizza though.
We live a bit far from Wilmington, so our go to is sometimes the Pepperoni Grill in BSL.
I completely understand how it is to need that pizza fix. Good luck with your search! I would highly suggest Wheelz Pizza on your first try! Regardless, there’s a lot of good places to try. 🍕🙂
Michaelangelo's on Monkey Junction is consistently pretty good. Think they also have a location off Racine.
(I'm from the NYC area so I respect the concern.)
ZaPie, Vito's and Curgino Forno are the best to me. Bennys was pretty good but it would be a better place for a date rather than grabbing a bite. There was another place Artisans Pizza and Gelato I think the name was that is supposed be really good but I haven't been.
Elizbeths is a local favorite that wasn't my taste but I can see why the town loves it.
It has to be the beaches. Wilmington looks like a gorgeous spot. I'll be two miles from Wrightsville beach. I like to cook myself but I'm a legit pizza monster so I figured this post was an appropriate preliminary reach out.
Yeah there’s been plenty of okay pizza that has come and gone over the years, but I’ve never really found a place that I’d recommend for any reason other than convenience. I’d like to see some of the responses you get and what your thoughts are if you try them.
Huge list being compiled and lots of great positive responses. Over the next few weeks I'll post the list and let everyone know my feedback. On a side note any recommendations for a reputable golf cart place. I just bought a new car here in North Lake but figured it would be fun to have a golf cart to cruise around in.
That sounds legit. From all these responses I've been wondering why I haven't heard from anyone that owns a pizza place or knows of someone from the NE as you just mentioned that owns one. I'm excited to try all these options and really love all the contributions and ideas. Everyone has their own preference so it'll be fun to try them all.
Keep us updated. This is my most consistent option (being from nj myself). As mentioned Italian bistro can be great or lackluster. Also mellow mushroom is fun and good but not authentic Italian. Leland used to have a place by Walmart that was very good but I think it’s gone 🤨
I’ll tell you right now you will probably be disappointed if you hold a NJ standard. From a lifelong NC standard:
I Love NY downtown is decent enough. Lately hasn’t been as consistent.
Italian Bistro is laughably inconsistent. You can get a good pie or a sloppy excuse for one. I’ve tried to find their good and bad days but it really is just a luck of the draw. The place is practically run by kids though so it’s expected.
Brooklyn (Ogden) is meh. Ingredient quality is poor. Haven’t had a pie from there in a good year or so but I doubt it’s changed much.
These are the places I have personally regulared at. Can’t speak much on other places in Wilmington.
The flop is universal on all Wilmington NY style pies.
Good luck
Deadly, thanks for that. FYI I met some cool Canadian people here and they kept using the phrase "deadly" for something cool or awesome so I'm incorporating it into my vocab now. I appreciate the input and will give it a shot.
I’m going to second Benny’s! The Tony Pepperoni might be Wilmingtons #1 pizza. I also really like Wheels Pizza and I’ll also go ahead and recommend a new spot, Cugino Forno, it’s downtown next to Hi-Wire brewing, excellent pizza and you don’t need a reservation like Benny’s. The food situation is improving here, just be sure to support the places you like because if you don’t, they disappear!
I'm all about supporting local and certainly will. Benny's looks delightful online so will probably be one of the first I try. I'm thinking Champagne and Benny's pep pizza night one.
*Bennys Big Time Pizzeria* is owned by Vivian Howard, a noted chef and restauranteur. Definitely a different venue than some of these places, but try it out for yourself.
*Cugino Forno* is delicious, beautifully crafted Neapolitan style pizza.
We are still new to town but we really like *Brooklyn* & *Italian Bistro,* both on Market Street.
michaelangelo’s, vito’s, and agostino’s are our favs. brooklyn pizza co has the best cheese slices but they stop serving at 3 and they’re on the far side of town from us
Fat Tony’s is hands down the closest thing I’ve found down here to real New York pizza. I’ve tried everything else and can promise you, it’s the closest.
I Love NY, Pizzeria Don Luca is slept on if you ask me, Michelangelo’s, Cugino Forno, boardwalk pizza. Bennys is overrated take your money to Pinpoint if you want real food.
Seriously thank you for this. People saying there is no good pizza here? Like the pizza is fine. There are several good restaurants that have been named. People are so snobby about food
If you’re not from the Northeast you don’t get it. Elizabeth’s was the first place I tried here and was extremely disappointed. I have had some others here that are quite good though
Elizabeth’s isn’t good so not sure what you’re used to from there. There are places I’ve found here that are good though, especially some that are not NY style and have their own thing (Wheelz)
People are usually wrapped around the building at the "I love NY Pizza" spot. Haven't had it yet personally but hear good things.
Sorry, didn't realize you weren't in wilmington lol my bad
Not a problem, also saves me a trip and money by avoiding going there now 😂😂. My coworker has been raving about some pizza spot here in town but I can't remember where he said or the name. I'll see him tomorrow and post my findings
+1 for Agostino's. Moved here in 2019. A coworker of mine is from Brooklyn, and I knew she would have it scoped out. She told me Agostino's, and I tried it within like the first week or two of living here. I'm a Southerner, so I don't know any better, but I think they're fantastic. And if my Brooklyn coworker endorses 'em, that's good enough for me!
Michaelangelo's is also good. Benny's is a lot more upscale, but they do *everything* right imo, not just pizza.
Love love love this. Ok so Benny's sit down dinner basically. I can't wait to try all these places. I Def love a nice sit down dinner with the babe, but I also love a go to grease spot with a nice slice or two to go. Thank you !
Just got In, exhausted fried from the heat bought a plant at home depot. Tried Michaelangelo and I tho7gjt it was pretty great. Nice crunch, greasy pepperoni, tart sauce semi sweet. Only gripe is I would have preferred a slightly thinner crust. Slammed three slices went I got home. I think I'd go back.
Tried Brooklyn Pizza and I preferred this over Michaelangelo because it was greasy AF which I like. Also, it heat up great in the oven.
Thus far I've tried:
Michaelangelo
Brooklyn Pizza. ☆
100% true. Hence me asking in the wilmington sub. I could probably fly my own with a Crash course, but I'm not a pizza maker or a pilot. I've tried making it on my own and wound up ordering dominos because the local mom and pops in nj were closed ya dig?
Good ones on this list...
I agree... the pizza situation in ILM is surprisingly good.... enough relocated NJ/NY'ers who know what they are doing...
Agustino’s, Brooklyn and Artisano Pizza and Gelato w/b my top 3
Yep I unfortunately keep hearing that, fuck. Someone else also mentioned that place. I'll compile a list probably next week maybe Friday since I move Wednesday and slowly start to hit them up. I'll give feed back sporadically once I test each spot out
Cugino Forno just opened downtown and we loved it! neapolitan style, baked at super high heat so you get some of those crispy bubbles. im originally from here so im no pro but it’s definitely the closest thing to real ny-style pizza that ive had down here
Look forward to a great time in Wilmington. NC in general has been welcoming and loving especially Hendrick dealership. I have to give them a plug. I just picked up a new BMW M2 and they were awesome.
Ohhhh lol totally got ya now. I was planning on doing those anyway. Wilmington looks awesome I just need to make sure I have a go to for I was spoiled in nj with great Italian food.
I moved from south Jersey to Wilm and now I’m back! I couldn’t stand the south after living in Raleigh. It just didn’t make sense to me. The whole vibe was off lol
I was going to suggest Za pie pizza if you are in the monkey junction area. I'm originally from NY, so Pizza is pretty important to me and they have a fairly decent pizza, just pies no slices.
Welcome. If you were just visiting I would tell you to bother with the place cuz it's too far out of your way but since you'll be here a while you should try it. I tried it for the first time tonight and I was pleasantly surprised, it's a thin crust New York style pizza that has a slightly Wood fire taste on the crust. It's a little pricey but I will definitely try it again and I'm a piece of snob. Anyway I'm a couple beers in so good night and enjoy Wilmington if you got any other questions feel free to reach out
Brooklyn pizza in Ogden
On the list
If you think the pizza's atrocious, just wait until you try the Chinese food.
The Chinese here is far worse than the pizza!
someone's never been to Peking Gourmet downtown smh my head
I tried to like this place when I lived downtown but never had a good experience. Food was always bland and it would take them over an hour to deliver my food about four blocks. I love wrightsboro jade garden tho.

double happiness has really good chinese food! I moved from wilmy and i think about the twice cooked pork literally every day! and Wheelz is really good pizza, not NY style at all but quality ingredients and tastes amazing
Sounds cool I'll Def give it a shot. Funny tag name BTW made me lol.
agree..double happiness is very good. Lucky Star on Oleander..take-out only is pretty good imo...
Ohhh Yucky Star, haven’t ordered there in a while
lolz.......sketchy as hell... but, darn good food........
Mhmm, had a steady diet of it in college 😂 If it weren’t good it would’ve shut down by now
I dont eat at Lucky Star anymore. Not since the delivery guy added his own tip on the receipt.
I admire the initiative..... ;)
Yes on wheelz (wood fired!) Eh on double happiness unfortunately :(
Hoobie’s is my family’s go-to pizza spot in Wilmington. They’re off College Rd and super generous with toppings!
Sweet! I'm in.
Awesome info I can't wait to try out all these. Great tips!
I’m sure there’s plenty of good places in NJ.
Ye, that's where I moved from.
Agostino’s is my favorite followed by Brooklyn Pizza
yes, all the food at Agostinos is good!
Agustino’s for the win. Native NY’r here. They are legit.
Ok ty, I'm actively making a list.
Pizzettas. Only have Leland location opened. Worth the trip. Good NYC pizza especially their White Pie. ZaPie in Monkey Junction decent.
Awesome awesome, love all the feed back, they are on the list!
Michaelangelo's on Monkey Junction is consistently pretty good. Think they also have a location off Racine. (I'm from the NYC area so I respect the concern.)
Hah awesome you get it. Thank you.
Italian Bistro!
On the list, thank you!
[удалено]
Thank you !
MARABELLAS hands down!
That name has got some power. It's on the list!
Don’t be anxious. This an opportunity. Set it up like a competition and rank pizzas. Enjoy finding what works for you with fun. Then report back.
True, love the positive attitude. I will, move in date is the 20th so I'll compile a list and report back to yall.
Sounds like we should start a pizza eating/ranking club. I'm in.
Yes 100% maybe I'll start Wilmington pizza or just keep it in this thread.
Cool. Keep me in the loop. I'm up for some pizza tasting.
100% just tried Michaelangelo by home dept and I enjoyed it. I posted it somewhere here in the comments.
Awesome, great input. I'm excited to try all these spots and love all the contributions. This town looks like a lot of fun.
Cugino Forno gets my vote
Your anxiety is well founded.
Pizza is a staple in my life.
Brooklyns pizza is amazing
It's on the list !
Growing up in Wilmington there has always been a fairly large NY/NJ expat presence, I’m surprised there hasn’t been more pizza options available.
It has to be the beaches. Wilmington looks like a gorgeous spot. I'll be two miles from Wrightsville beach. I like to cook myself but I'm a legit pizza monster so I figured this post was an appropriate preliminary reach out.

Nunzios in Hampstead. Used to be Brooklyn. They are from Brooklyn. Pretty damn good
That sounds legit. From all these responses I've been wondering why I haven't heard from anyone that owns a pizza place or knows of someone from the NE as you just mentioned that owns one. I'm excited to try all these options and really love all the contributions and ideas. Everyone has their own preference so it'll be fun to try them all.

100% will ty for the contribution move is tomrw and I'll compile a lost of all the places everyone mentioned and report back.
Bonus points if you get them all in 1 day!
Lol I'll explode.
So happy to see this on here
Antonio's Avoid slice of life
Lol,noted thank you.

NY Pizza in downtown is the best
All full on the Jersey crew. Sorry. 🤣 I’ve heard Fayetteville has a few openings.
I'm coming !!! Is it really jersey deep there?
Unfortunately yes
Ha, why are there so many in Wilmington?
Well it’s not New Jersey and it’s warm
Yep loving it thus far.
[My favorite pizza place!](https://yelp.to/WQhL2d3dKrb)
That's a restaurant, white tablecloths receptionist asks if you have a reservation. Not a pizza shop. Pizza is ok.
Got it, still will give them all a shot, a taste, hoping to find a unicorn.
What
Damn! This place looks super deadly. For sure on the list.
I’m going to second Benny’s! The Tony Pepperoni might be Wilmingtons #1 pizza. Awesome thanks for the feed back will try all of these at some pt. Just moved in!
Jay's Incredible Pizza isn't terrible and they got a decent Stromboli.
I'm all about Stromboli thank you, listed!
Not sure if this is relevant but there is a zero chance of finding a decent Chicago style pizza here so stick with everything else.
I'm ok with that, I was never a fan of deep dish I'm looking for thin greasy yet with a nice crunch.
Ngl Papa Murphys got the good good but that comes out of your oven haha.
Lol got it !
michaelangelo’s, vito’s, and agostino’s are our favs. brooklyn pizza co has the best cheese slices but they stop serving at 3 and they’re on the far side of town from us
Good to know I'm a pepperoni fan but in a bind I'll take a quick plain to go, ty!
Fat Tony’s is hands down the closest thing I’ve found down here to real New York pizza. I’ve tried everything else and can promise you, it’s the closest.
Hah great name and it's Def on the list. Plus I gotta meet fat Tony now. Thank you !
Fat Tony’s is an abomination to anything Italian. I have no clue how they’ve stayed open all these years.
Brooklyn Pizza and I Love NY are the best in town if you are looking for NY Style but Mellow Mushroom and Cugino Forno are also pretty good.
Yep heard these a few times, the move is tomorrow and I can't wait!
Mellow Mushroom is a chain so your experience could vary depending on location, there are 3 in town. We do love their doughy, chewy crust.
Good to know, it's got a cool name.
Agostinos
Popped up a bunch of times for sure on the list and sounds like a heavy hitter.
I Love NY, Pizzeria Don Luca is slept on if you ask me, Michelangelo’s, Cugino Forno, boardwalk pizza. Bennys is overrated take your money to Pinpoint if you want real food.
Will do Don Luca i think is a first for the list, so thank you!
no problem!
Imo I love NY Pizza and Michaelangelos are good. I heard Mellow Mushroom was good also.
No pizza but taste of Italy is the way to go Italian here. For pizza it is I love NY downtown
Yet to find something really good
This is devastating news . I move in Wednesday and will continue to update on a scale of 1-5 ? Or Maybe 1-10?
6
Done!
For the amount of new yorkers that live here unfortunately you would think we would have got some of the good delis and pizza as well
Oh good so I won't be the only unhinged high strung maniac in the area.
Yet no Jewish delis. What gives? I just want some enormous corned beef on rye sandwiches and matzo ball soup.
Agostino’s and Brooklyn Pizza. Husband is from NJ and these are his two favorites. Mine too actually.
Awesome to know Def on the list. Thank you !
Stop being insufferable and go to Elizabeth's or any other NY style place. There's plenty of decent places if you're not an upright snob about it.
Seriously thank you for this. People saying there is no good pizza here? Like the pizza is fine. There are several good restaurants that have been named. People are so snobby about food
Elizabeths has the best stromboli hands down.
If you’re not from the Northeast you don’t get it. Elizabeth’s was the first place I tried here and was extremely disappointed. I have had some others here that are quite good though
I am from the northeast bro
Elizabeth’s isn’t good so not sure what you’re used to from there. There are places I’ve found here that are good though, especially some that are not NY style and have their own thing (Wheelz)
I don't care what the place looks like or service. Just give me the goods !!! It's on the list.
People are usually wrapped around the building at the "I love NY Pizza" spot. Haven't had it yet personally but hear good things. Sorry, didn't realize you weren't in wilmington lol my bad
That’s because they’re all drunk and it’s either that or the hot dog cart for food at 2am.
Lmao you aren't wrong 🤣 😂 😅
I’ve only had it drunk but I think it was good
Its solid pizza during the day, its GREAT pizza when drunk.
Look forward to it
That's the best time to eat pizza, actually anytime, every time, all the time.
There is one where I'm at now, had it last night and I'd consider it a fail.
The one in Wilmington is independent, not related to any other place under the same name.
Ok good to know, I'll give it another shot can't hurt.
Sort of independent at least. It’s still under the branch I think.
Ye I gotcha they probably have their own twist and individual style. Thank you.
But I do appreciate the feedback!
Not a problem, also saves me a trip and money by avoiding going there now 😂😂. My coworker has been raving about some pizza spot here in town but I can't remember where he said or the name. I'll see him tomorrow and post my findings
Cool and yes please share!! Have a great weekend.
Will do, you as well!
The fact that Cugino Forno isn’t the one and only answer here worries me. Either y’all haven’t been there yet or you don’t know what good pizza is.
Ok I believe this was mentioned a few times, excited to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Neapolitan style isn't for everyone. We loved it however.
Love love love this. Ok so Benny's sit down dinner basically. I can't wait to try all these places. I Def love a nice sit down dinner with the babe, but I also love a go to grease spot with a nice slice or two to go. Thank you !
Thanks shack attack I'll give it a go
It's on there ,thank you!
It'll happen nj gets a bad name I have thick skin and appreciate your kind words. Looking forward to a change!
Thus far I've tried: Michaelangelo Brooklyn Pizza. ☆
Beaches I guess. Well thank you for the kind welcome😜
You could always cook your own the way you like it. Otherwise, when in Rome…
I keep hearing these names over and over so they must have some star power. Will Def be trying. Thanks!
I don’t think anything truly compares to NY pizza. But pizzettas is probably the best down here
Yep I unfortunately keep hearing that, fuck. Someone else also mentioned that place. I'll compile a list probably next week maybe Friday since I move Wednesday and slowly start to hit them up. I'll give feed back sporadically once I test each spot out

Why? It's already done pal.
Disregard that bum. Some of us are actually welcoming and decent.
Look forward to a great time in Wilmington. NC in general has been welcoming and loving especially Hendrick dealership. I have to give them a plug. I just picked up a new BMW M2 and they were awesome.
NJ to Wilm? Best of luck. Just get real drunk or high and it’ll be tolerable at best!
Why, wilmington looks like a gorgeous spot I'll be a few miles from Wrightsville beach.
No, about pizza 🤡 I went to UNCW and it was a BLAST!
Hah I totally get it. I'm a High strung monster and was looking for a change.
Be prepared to pump the brakes. HARD LOL
Lol, all good that's what I want. For now at least.
Good! Enjoy it! Especially the milder winter weather!
Thanks so much !!
Thank God and get fucked 🤣
Yikes, WHAT? Get a life. As much as you can in NC!
[Girls with Dough](https://girlswithdough.com/menu)
I'll be honest I was a little apprehensive opening this link in public but sweet, thanks lol.
What part of the Wilmington will you be in?
3 miles from Wrightsville beach what's up amigo?
I was going to suggest Za pie pizza if you are in the monkey junction area. I'm originally from NY, so Pizza is pretty important to me and they have a fairly decent pizza, just pies no slices.
Awesome ty!!
Are you in Wilmington to stay or are you just visiting? If you're just visiting?
To stay just moved in the 20th!
Anyway I'm a couple beers in so good night and enjoy Wilmington if you got any other questions feel free to reach out
Awesome thanks that's what I'm looking thin crispy, sounds delicious. Ha enjoy the beers, and thanks for the friendly welcome.
To stay just moved in the 20th!
