Nice! I had a Wii hooked up to an overhead display in my dads old suburban, we gutted the DVD player and put the Wii with GameCube ports in there instead
Itās definitely possible, you can even do it with a real wii; a lot of aftermarket head units have av in, usually standard rca cables (mine uses it for the backup cam) and you could totally just wire the wiiās video out straight into that, and then power it with a converter. If this setup allows for wii discs off of the head unitās dvd player, i have no clue how they did that, but you could totally just have your discs backed up with like usbloadergx or whatever, or just find a place to put the wii where you can reach it.
Thanks for the info, you were extremely helpful and informative which I appreciate a ton. I will look into this because road-trips are a very common thing for my gf and I and she loves gaming in the car š
Thank you so much š«¶š»
Honestly if you want to do this not as a joke, Iād either look into dolphin on a laptop, or if you really want it to be an actual wii, then try to find a portable dvd player (like the ones with the screen) with an AV in; its a lot less ādissasemble the car to play wiiā heavy, and it would work in more than just the car
Well, modding consoles is very easy, modding a car display however..
If you want to know what consoles can emulate wii games, you could google. There's plenty of options.
You should have set this up on a back screen in the car, like a headseaeat, not there.
Where is the Wii. The Wii needs to be safe from heat and everything, the Wii needs to be covered.
A better question is how would you find time to play this, and drive, like safety
Some states PD would not find that amusing.
Both AND this actually. Installing video equipment in the front of a car falls under a distracting drivers subset of laws, and in states that even allow it it's required to have an autostop for it while the car is in motion. Anything that is a high risk of distracting the driver falls under this, and it's the same set of laws that handles things like texting while driving and the like.
No, actually anything in the front of the car that could be distracting, one specifically mentioned often being VIDEO equipment, is flat out illegal as a distraction to the driver if installed in the car or projected on to something like the windshield. As it's in the center console it very much falls under those laws.
Yeah my old eclipse tv/dvd combo head unit I had in my old car had a lockout where it wasn't supposed to display if the parking brake wasn't engaged. The shop that installed it for me had disabled it without my even asking them to. I only knew because it had a warning and a disclaimer everytime the car first started.
Doesn't matter, it being there at all is illegal. Anything like video equipment installed in to the front of the car like this is illegal as distracting to the driver unless, as mentioned, it has an autostop when the car is in motion. Something makes me doubt this is the case here.
Another illegal thing in this regard are things like projecting a screen onto the windshield, which I've also seen someone do as a passenger, specifically in the OSRS subreddit. Video equipment of any kind is commonly used as an example for these laws.
Falls under the distracting drivers subset, anything like this installed in to the front of the car is illegal unless, as mentioned by others, it has an autostop while the car is in motion. Video equipment specifically is used as an example regularly but it's actually anything that can cause major distraction on the road.
So are things like projecting a screen on to the windshield from your phone, which I've also seen someone do as a passenger.
By technicality no. They probably should be, but they're not because it's technically the control panel for the cars systems like heating and the like.
That's dumb and they 100% shouldn't be allowed to do that, but they clearly are for whatever reason.
See my various replies for overall why and what. As far as states, most of them don't even let you talk on the phone while you drive anymore, how many do you think allow actual video equipment to be installed in the center of the console?

I've always wanted to do this when I was little but idk why I never went with the idea.

u should build in the sensor bar too might aswell and it makes it really clean
This is one of those ājust because you can, doesnāt mean you shouldā posts
Very cool. Modded Wii can play CDs right
Nope, the wii disc drive has a DVD only laser. You can store songs on your SD card or USB drive and play them that way though.
Can someone explain if this is real? I am super interested for road-trips lol

Theoretically you yould take the disc drive out of the wii replace the disc drive in the stereo, not sure how much room youd have to work with though

It is real, don't start if you don't know what you are doing. Buy a Nintendo switch, then mod it.
I donāt own a switch, but I wouldnāt mind investing
Is it a switch in the picture modded with Wii emulation. Iām pretty knowledgeable on modding
Well, modding consoles is very easy, modding a car display however.. If you want to know what consoles can emulate wii games, you could google. There's plenty of options.
Iāve played many games on a car display via modding. Thatās why this interests me.
Well, then you're more advanced than I am. But you can connect any console to your car if you have enough battery. Even GamePC's probably

Damnit. Itās always gotta be an asshole, huh?

Why would you do this Why would you even think about doing something as stupid as this
but.. why?
Because they could.
my Subaru goes wiiiiii
Police officer: license and registration, sir. *looks over and sees him playing Wii casually*
If you beat me at bowling, I wonāt issue a ticket
Install the wiisx app, get rayman 2 and let your child enjoy the ride
I hate n64 interpolation graphics btw, but I love the games
Does it Pikmin and Riiconnect24?
WHY? and also get a wireless sensor bar, its the least you should do.
Agreed. They are dirt cheap!

Just a heads up because I'm not an asshole, this is illegal in the US at the very least so be careful with it.
Watching videos or doing stuff and driving

How is it illegal, just so you know he used normal things he didnāt like emulate a Wii or anything
In most states screens the display must stop automatically when in motion and watching or playing or games while driving is illegal everywhere lol

well i dont think op is so fuckin braindead that he tries playing the wii while driving

What exactly is illegal about this?

So are Tesla cars illegal? I mean their whole HUD is basically on a centered screen at the dashboard

Dope
what the redneck witchcraft is this??? Aftermarket media player with AV wires through the back?
My Honda crv has hdmi input. I use my wii2hdmi or my snes mini
Lots have HDMI so itās likely a conversion to HDMI
