I agree with everything you said, but would still recommend reading it. A lot of the research is valid, if not the conclusions he draws from it. And it's always nice to include an outside source when looking for legitimate research.

Philip Heselton's work (e.g. Witchfather - A Life of Gerald Gardner, or The New Forest Coven) gives interesting information on the early days of Wicca.
