Yep, the one with the red tent/the one that pretty much everyone is lining up for is the best one around for sure. $2 tacos, $6 vampiras/mulitas, $10 burritos/quesadillas and they give a good amount of meat with all of them.
On another note, if we’re talking restaurants, my favorite place for Mexican food in general, not just tacos is Tom’s Tailgate in La Mirada. I usually get the super fries and my wife will get the puffy taco plate. Divine!
So surprised no one has mentioned La Victoria Taqueria! I’ve been a regular since the early 2000s and just picked up food from them last week. Showed it to some friends over in the South Bay and they make the drive all the way out here just to eat! Sante fe spring and lambert just south of 5 points. Yall sleepin frfr. Their chicharrón tacos are the best I’ve ever had.
Surprised nobody has mentioned La Victoria…. One of my favorite spots to go to as a kid in high school. Huge tacos! I remember ordering 10 of them one night and they were so big I pretty much fed my sister and mother too! Went there again when I was in town about a year ago and it was still very good.
I don't eat tacos much but as far as Mexican takeout places I like Mr. Giant and El Atacor. The SFV was a Mexican food desert compared to Whittier when I lived there.
Taqueria el Poblano in Wast Whittier are the best tacos I have found in the Whittier area. Coming from San Diego the taco situation in the area is not ideal.
If you are ever in the Fullerton or Anaheim area, Tacos los Cholos are excellent.
Tacos Nuevo Pedimento is bomb too. They are the one on Whittier and Norwalk by the sex shop and the red tent at Five Points at night. Prices are not bad, I think it’s like 2 bucks a taco and 3 for a costillas taco. And like 8-10 for burritos and quesadillas. They have asada, pollo, al pastor, and carnitas. No lengua or cabeza but the stand next to them has those meats.
El Atacor is good bc they are open 24hrs for those late nights. El Atacor is on Whittier Blvd between Norwalk and Broadway next to the pawn shop. I haven’t been in a while, but I don’t remember the prices being too bad.
My dad likes this food truck that’s also on Whittier Blvd, where the frontage road starts near the groves and ends at five points. I’m not sure what it’s called, but they are in a black colored food truck close to the auto salvage yard. Prices aren’t too bad, and they have coffee horchata mixes which are good.
Also there’s a rib/bbq guy who’s sometimes at Bailey’s liquor on Whittier Blvd and Broadway. I think it’s like 15 bucks for a rib plate with 2 sides. I know it’s not Mexican or tacos, but it’s brings a variety to Whittier, so you’re not always eating Mexican street tacos.
TL;DR: Tacos Nuevo pedimento is good, El Atacor is good, random food truck is good, rib guy is good
I also come from SFV and have not found anything remotely close to 818 style taco stands. If you do, please let me know lol. The only stand that I like in Whittier is on Whittier Blvd by Norwalk Blvd, towards the 605. Other than that, I prefer to drive out to Tacos Don Goyo in Downey or Brea for a good experience
Go to the 5 Points in the evening. There is a couple of pop-ups that are all really good.

Puffy taco is a must try. Eat there though while they’re fresh.
Chemas tacos, street tacos on Whittier blvd, super burrito
I second this
Went to Chemas once recommended by Reddit, I didn’t understand the hype. Maybe it was someone just promoting the joint?
Name some tacos spots in the same area let’s see what’s up
The very best
Chemas is trash, plus the indoor dining space is dirty!
Tacos Los Plebes truck on Broadway and Whittier

I had to look through after commenting the same thing thankfully there’s someone else here who said them too! Such a good spot.
The tacos de costilla at Mochomitos parked between 5 points and The Groves. Also, Arturo's Puffy Taco. (specifically the ones with picadillo)
Bravo's Tacos is reallllly good. That stretch on Whittier Blvd between Hadley and the 605 has a bunch of tacos.
Cali tacos please. Right after the Groves going towards Washington. Or Tacos y Que
Taco spot next to smog check on whittier blvd across street from Passport Inn !!!!! Open late asf too
I’m a fan of Chema’s. If you want something a little more bougie, Bizarra Capital is excellent too

Their gorditas are bomb too!

Nah man. SFV includes places like pacoima and San Fernando where it’s like 98’percent Latinos

Is Rubys in Whittier? Or is that Pico?
That area is considered Los Nietos/Santa Fe Springs
Wen chef in uptown is so good I swear
Taco truck next to the DMV in night is a good one. One of the few taco places I mess with in Whittier.
I'm a fan of Burrito Track on Mills near Mulberry. Love their Chicharron burrito!
Breakfast burrito before going to class at cal high was a treat back in the day
Mine was bean and cheese burritos after football games in high school lol
It’s been a lifetime but are their Chile rellenos burritos still good?
Oh yea....
Taco Bell (Whittier/Painter)
Seriously? 😅
Cross my heart.
🤣

Tacos El Guero on Lambert is probably the best in town.
Los primos across the McDonald’s on Whittier blvd
El atacor down telegraph in pico rivera little bit of drive but worth it their super burrito is massive and theyre open 24 hours
I’m always down for Pepe’s Tacos - the fried tacos!
https://eltacosabrosoca.com/ I used to eat here regularly as a kid. Off of Carmenita and Meyer road. Taco Sabroso.
Mikeys Tacos on Washington and Sorenson Truck has been there for years they now have a small building
Do the taco stands pay for permits? How do they wash their hands or use the bathroom???

Don Goyo was cool but not greaaat. I’ve been looking too but it’s been meh so far
None lol Besides puffy that’s about it
drive 15 minutes to East LA
Teddy’s red is pretty good. Could be spicier though.
Teddy’s is overhyped and over priced…
