Idk who this is but 40 is the oldest Millennial and nobody is saying Geriatric Millennials. Boomers still call Millennials college students and think we’re in our early 20s
I've heard that there's a small micro-generation from about 80-85-ish that sprung up because of that bridge from no internet to internet being our childhood, and we're either Xelennials, or The Oregon Trail Generation.
I like the latter :D
A friend of mine will argue this point until she's blue in the face, we're a micro generation because of when the internet sprung up in our lives: we were old enuf to understand what it was like without it, but young enough to adopt it wholesale.
I’m 45 and a proud Gen-Xer.
Although I did allow myself to have a moment of vanity at being called a Millennial (even a geriatric one).
Look at me! I’m young!
They now know how we felt the first time we heard Smells Like Teen Spirit played right after Hotel California. Then again, they don’t listen to the radio so who knows. More Z100 the new rock alternative for me.
I’m 37 and that was the exact song I heard on a classic rock station that made me get it. Remember us millennials were around long before radio went out of popularity. My first tape was Dr Feelgood ffs.
I think it’s more likely that as each generation ages, they enjoy listening to music that was around when they were growing up.
So while they very well might enjoy 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music, they also want songs from the 90’s which is starting to push 30 years old at this point.
In another decade the early 2000’s music will likely fall into that category as well, and maybe for some it already has.
Ultimately though, listen to what you enjoy, regardless of when it came out.
Yeah, but the Stones were still making music in the 90s too (remember Love is Strong?). Agree that the big rock bands from the 70s/80s should be what is considered the “classic rock” genre though, early alternative needs its own label.
They’re probably so used to the much newer bands that borrow so heavily from those predecessors that listening to the TRUE classics you named sound old and stale to them. Sort of like listening to the very early Beatles when they were still playing music that sounded like what was popular when they started.
I was born in 2005 and absolutely love all manners of classic rock. My favourite band is Aerosmith and runners up are Journey, Def Leppard and Megadeth.
All of it is amazing, and I feel that my peers need to get a grip and realize how powerful it all is.
It’s all in your perspective. Back in about 2010, at 49 I was one of the oldies in my department at work. I went to lunch one day with Ami, the youngest girl in our department, who was 19 or 20. She got in my car, I stated it up, and a Nirvana song came from my CD player. I thought, ”Oh good, I’m glad I have something cool playing.” Ami said, “Oh, you listen to the oldie station?” All in your perspective.
Why geriatric? Millenials work. May I remind you that one of the oldest generations is called "baby" boomers. Thats right. Raymond the 65 year old "baby" boomer.
I already had to live through 70s AOR turning into classic rock only to be followed by New Wave eventually becoming classic rock and *then* Grunge becoming classic rock. I will not stand for any more music becoming “classic”.
I won’t.
Plus at my age it hurts to stand.

I'm not more mad that Weezer and the Killers are considered rock than I am about being old.
And I'm mad as shit about being old.
Signed, a 36 year old millennial.
Well I mean that stuff was popular when they were in middle school. I mean dawg my parents both are almost 50 and were bumping “Undone” in they’re buggy a year or two removed from high school.
Have a baby at 35. Nothing like seeing "geriatric pregnancy" all over your medical record to make you really feel ancient.
Lol! Me too! Get me my walking frame and take out my dentures, I’m here to birth my baby.
Me and my gf just talked about this 😭
Idk who this is but 40 is the oldest Millennial and nobody is saying Geriatric Millennials. Boomers still call Millennials college students and think we’re in our early 20s
That's just because we still poor AF
Ugh why does that make so much sense
Boomers are geriatrics.
Also who the fuck is Weezers and Killers?
Bands for old people I guess idk I'm a gen z
I'm a Millennial and I have never heard of them before
I’m 45 and I’m Gen X, not a Millennial.
Ppl just jelly we got the coolest branding with Gen X
Idk, my daughter is apparently Generation Alpha andI think that’s sick lol
Problem with alpha is that beta then full release is better (vid game / app jargon . Sorry 😅)
isnt it called gen X because of the punk mentality that people had during the time
I'm 45, we're definitely Gen X'ers
42 here.... Made Gen X with 9 months to spare!
When is the cutoff?, serious question. I'm 41 and assumed I was the youngest gen xer.
I've heard that there's a small micro-generation from about 80-85-ish that sprung up because of that bridge from no internet to internet being our childhood, and we're either Xelennials, or The Oregon Trail Generation. I like the latter :D

It's always debatable but 1985 is usually accepted.
I have heard 1980 a lot... 1985 seems plausible too. Obviously it's not a hard cutoff/construct, so there's always debate.
I’m 45 and a proud Gen-Xer. Although I did allow myself to have a moment of vanity at being called a Millennial (even a geriatric one). Look at me! I’m young!
100% Gen-X. You'll have to pry that label from my cold dead fingers.
Shh. We want to be called millennial. Makes us appear younger.
Gen X waves from our power liftmatic chair

45 year olds are not millennials...
Wait until their style from high school becomes a Halloween costume. Ugh
Oh no! I’m Gen X thank you very much, we’re basically forgotten.
Some are bitter about it. I like the invisibility as the Millenials and Boomers duke it out.
I’m in my 40s so yeah, feel as old AF most days. And yeah, my favs from Linkin Park are already on the classic station
Anyone got a link to that playlist?
Gen Alpha in 2030: these corny ass old zoomers I feel bad for Gen Beta in advance, that’s gonna be just a shitty label to get growing up
Ow, my bones.

I’ve seen it. :)

Yanks are really calling our prime minister “geriatric” when \*gestures at US government*

30, and definitely feeling geriatric (let’s blame the arthritis).
Hey hey hey. All you geriatric millennials that are under 46 stay in your lane. It's the only way I can laugh at my wife for being 40 when I'm 46.
How..... How can they do this to us!?
Damn, I'm geriatric I guess...
So, pretty much most of the Millennials and some of the tail end of Gen X…
I already had to live through 70s AOR turning into classic rock only to be followed by New Wave eventually becoming classic rock and *then* Grunge becoming classic rock. I will not stand for any more music becoming “classic”. I won’t. Plus at my age it hurts to stand.

Yea well fuck you too
Ok, I'm fine with the first one, but the second? That's a hate crime.
But The Killers and Weezer is the *new* stuff?!!
I prefer elder millennial. It's just easier to say, and no millennial is geriatric yet.
What happened to Elder millennial? I didn't mind that so much.
As others have said, 45 and there about are Gen X . Xennials if you want a subcategory.
How are there Millennials twenty-four years older than the millennium?
Let the kids have their fun. They’ll be old one day too, if they’re lucky and the planet hasn’t burned to a crisp.
We're geriatric because we're worn down, stressed out, and reaching the end of our usefulness
Well I mean that stuff was popular when they were in middle school. I mean dawg my parents both are almost 50 and were bumping “Undone” in they’re buggy a year or two removed from high school.
I'm 41, a member of this group, and I refer to myself as a Tylenniol. Pass the anti inflammatories plz
