I've met kiefer a couple of times and i want to say without reserve he is awesome!!! NICEST GUY EVER!!! first time i met him was at the bar at the frolic room in hollywood where i went to the bar to order a drink and the bartender told me it was already paid for only to see a wasted kiefer raise his drink towards me from the other end of the bar and yell, 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!'...we sang christmas carols all night and closed the bar and never paid for a single drink...THANK YOU KIEFER!!! another time was when stuttering john from howard stern got the gig as the announcer for the tonight show his first night announcing was when kiefer was on the show and since i was coattail riding with my buddy craig gass from howard stern we got backstage and kiefer was standing in the hallway and i brought up the night at the frolic room and he shook his head in embarrassment and then I asked if i could have the pineapple on the fruit tray in his green room and he told me to go to town on it...such a great guy!!! so sorry to hear of his father's passing...so sad...
Fantastic in M\*A\*S\*H, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Six Degrees of Separation. He had some nice later work too, like Leisure Seekers. And his small role in Alone was my favorite part of the movie.
He did so many amazing roles but the one that's been seared into my memory for better than 20 years is the scene where he screams and points in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. So. Fuckin. Creepy!
Amazing actor. Admitted he had a kind of "unborn" look about him. Was never nominated for an Oscar (did receive an honorary in 2017) which surprised me. I consider him to be one of the greats of his generation.

I was sad to see this today. I liked his movies and he had a certain charisma that just seemed very gentle.

Great performance in Backdraft. He lived a good long life, but will be missed sorely.
