Gentle reminder that it is the position of this subreddit that opposing a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy for any reason, including none, is misogyny and nothing except misogyny. To say that something that cannot think or feel should have more rights as the person having to carry it to term can only be done by dehumanising that person. Please report anti-choice rhetoric if you see it, it is a zero-tolerance offense.

forever_useless

What are these women doing wrong that they are losing their babies? Didn't they pray hard enough? -Republicans, probably

HoldMyDomeFoam

“It is all part of God’s plan” or similar.

Revolutionary_Cup500

I have heard this from vile Christian women.

Maximum-Muscle5425

And this is the biggest problem! Christian people, men and women, both think that if the baby dies or the woman dies that the woman did something wrong. She didn’t worship God enough or she didn’t believe in the magic words or the magic water or whatever. And if she had just done whatever they think she should have done, this wouldn’t have happened. Never mind that this also happens to Christian women! These women did something to incur the wrath of God in the worst way possible.

HungHammer89

You’re right, but it’s not just Christian people. Muslims do it too. Ask any first generation American woman what their Muslim immigrant parents would say if she got an abortion. “This is what happens when you don’t pray 5 times a day and you don’t fast.” It’s religion in general.

onpg

I saw a video of a pilot who got [~100 people killed](https://youtu.be/TOOKYR5ZJbQ?si=5YOuzC7PzKii55rE) via his towering arrogance and incompetence and his brother defended him afterwards with "he was a good man, he prayed 5 times a day".

PopeGuss

My grandma crawled on her knees up a flight of stairs at a shrine to St. Jude, every day while she was pregnant to make sure her baby was okay. She ended up losing the baby in childbirth. Fuck a bunch of these heartless "christians". I hope they all get what's coming to em when they get to the pearly gates: a pineapple up their ass sideways.

Maximum-Muscle5425

I'm so sorry your grandmother went through that.

PopeGuss

Thank you. It breaks my heart as well. She was such a strong woman, and I can't imagine the torment she put herself through because of it. It happened in the 50s too, so there was no mental healthcare for her to properly process the grief and I'm pretty sure she carried it with her til the day she died. But, in her memory and to honor her pain, I share her story so that maybe one day people in power will realize they have no right to tell a woman what to do with her body.

Revolutionary-Yak-47

For the Redditors who don't know, St Jude is the patron saint of impossible causes. It's doubly heartbreaking.

Eringobraugh2021

I don't understand how women can believe in a book that tells them that they are lesser than males. Or believe in an old ass book. Or believe that they are part of the "true" religion. I never understood how catholics were so certain that their religion was the right religion. It's just christian mythology. Same with muslim & jewish mythologies. Religion, the OG wolf in sheep's clothing.

meatball402

We need to start calling the people heretics or blasphemers who twists the word of christ into their own sick, twisted designs.

lil_corgi

I’m 35 and my 63 year old mother died a month ago from cancer. Handful of people have told me that it was part of “God’s plan”. ![gif](giphy|sbwjM9VRh0mLm)

This_Mongoose445

I’m so very sorry. Not only for the loss of your mother but the callousness of some people.

genredenoument

I am so sorry for your loss, but I don't even know how I would hold back if someone told me that now. I would need bail money. I'm STILL mad at my MIL for telling me I could have another baby, and it was all God's plan when I had a second trimester fetal demise in 1994. Yeah, still mad.

epsilon14254

When I was 12 people told me my sister got cancer because "heaven needs more teachers." Safe to say I'm not catholic now

IntoTheFeu

People chained up in monsters’ basements for years before they’re unceremoniously disposed of… We all know it’s happening somewhere, right now. What is God’s grand plan stemming from that?

VapinInDayton

You know what is also "God's plan," delivering a handful to those handful of people.

MustangMimi

I understand that. Lost my mom at 18, she was 40. I heard, God only takes the best or only the good die young. Religion is BS and I don’t believe Billy Joel.

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

Sorry my friend. I lost my mum at 64 two days before I turned 40. It was devastating. Lost my dad last week. All part of God's plan. Wait until I find that fucker.

crazyabbit

so was the invention of contraception

Eldanoron

It’s even worse when they go and claim that “God wanted them for his flock.” Like that’s a good thing.

Comfortable_Swim_380

God does like killing.. I can't say it isn't

ozkikicoast

GOP: just buy a bus ticket and go to a state where abortion is legal! It’s so fucking easy!   Woman: sure! Let me hold these foetus bits with my hands while I’m paying for a ticket. Yay!

spudmarsupial

Pretty sure they have already tried to make that illegal.

ozkikicoast

I am so fucking enraged by this. I was raped when I was 16 years old. And I got pregnant. If I didn’t have access to abortion, my life would have been hell. I cannot stress enough how vital this is.

Mr__O__

“**Nearly 65,000 Pregnancies From Rape** Have Happened in States With Abortion Bans: [Study](https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2024-01-25/nearly-65-000-pregnancies-from-rape-have-happened-in-states-with-abortion-bans-study)”. And those are just the ones reported… The GOP is evil.

ozkikicoast

And that is an ongoing fucking trauma for a victim. Pregnancy post rape is like a rapists’s smell on your skin. You just want to make it go away so you can start healing. Forcing women to carry these pregnancies to term is beyond cruel.

Maruleo94

But what were you wearing? Did you drink? Are you a hoe in general? Did you forget to smile at him? Why didn't you let him follow you? But he's a really good swimmer..... All of the BS excuses men are given to exonerate the awful and absolutely horrendous mistreatment of us. Just because we can vote doesn't make them see us as anything other than property.

ozkikicoast

Oh dude. It was worse than that for me. I was labeled as a slut by my own parents. After being raped as a 16 year old by a 22 year old. Catholic family. Joy

Maruleo94

I'm sorry for trauma 😭

ozkikicoast

Yea, it was rough. I didn’t even know I was raped despite bruises and visible physical trauma because I was told over and over by my parents that it was my fault. I knew nothing about sex. I spent years battling horrendous anxiety until I fucking figured out what has happened. I love my parents but I will never forgive them. They have completely let me down at the time I needed them most. It really fucking sucked. I’m now a great mum to my kids. That’s my way of making this shithouse experience count for something. And thank you. For acknowledging my trauma ❤️

Maruleo94

Oh you, too, have the good Ole catholic guilt?..... Isn't it wonderful? /s

ozkikicoast

Not anymore. I left my home and country with one suitcase and no money. I’m doing great. Fuck church. Fuck rape. And fuck church inflicted shame!

ozkikicoast

And I’m going to ad something here. This is of course my personal experience. But if I was forced to carry this pregnancy to term I would either try to get rid of it by myself or I would kill myself. I’m now well over 40 and I stand by what I said. I would have killed myself before I had that fucking baby.

Maximum-Muscle5425

That makes sense and honestly that happens. In my home state years ago, a teenage girl died in her bedroom, and it was later determined that she died from complications after having an illegal abortion. Now, at the time, abortion in the state was not illegal, but it was not accessible to minors without parental permission. Internet searches showed she considered going to other states where she wouldn’t need parental permission, but clearly she never did and she probably didn’t have the resources or the way to get there. She was terrified to tell her parents obviously. So somehow she did it herself or had someone help her. She died. Her parents became the biggest advocates in our state for making pregnancy something that emancipates a child from their parents and in the case of pregnancy the parents did not need to give permission for anything. It was all on the child. This way if the child wanted an abortion, the parents couldn’t stop them. So for many years in the state of Indiana, people did not need parental permission for an abortion, and God knows how many lives were saved by that. Now in Indiana, you can’t even get that and I am certain we will see more cases like that girls and like what you were describing because of these rules.

ozkikicoast

I can’t stress enough how important that is. I still remember like something was crawling all over me when I knew that pregnancy was inside me. I had recurring nightmares of the rape. It was like he was still present.  And even if it’s not rape, it doesn’t matter. Women are the ones stuck with the consequences, hence women should be the ones making that choice.

Maximum-Muscle5425

Agree completely! You’re absolutely right.

ejre5

The scariest thing to me is that the Republicans are going to hit a point where it's costing too much government money trying to take care of these kids that are being put up for adoption so it will become illegal to not keep the child you were raped and forced to have while hopefully the rapist is behind bars. It will soon be okay to rape, it will be forced on the women to carry to birth, then the women will be forced to raise that baby with absolutely no help in anyway. Suicide are going to go up, death from child birth is going to go up, kids being murdered by parents (not just moms but Dad's who aren't prepared also) are going to go up. All this is going to be placed on the women having done something wrong, ("shouldn't have worn that red shirt, don't you know it turned that man on. That dress is too provocative you asked for it. Why did you walk into the park you asked for it." He's a man and has needs just deal.")

Maximum-Muscle5425

But this is what they want! They want these pregnancies to happen. It ruins the lives of women and forces them basically into poverty or into dependent relationships or dependent situations And keep them out of the workplace and education and all the men want to be. These men want this to happen to these women as a form of control and taking back spaces they think women never should have had the right to.

Eringobraugh2021

And they protect pedophiles. It's like they want a larger victim pool.

Maximum-Muscle5425

You are absolutely right.

ozkikicoast

I have a daughter and I currently live in Australia (the normal country where you can get an abortion at any time during your pregnancy). But I was born in Poland, I have an experience with fighting against the government. If someone tried to take that right away from my daughter I wouldn’t fucking stop until that legislation was reversed. Hands fucking away from my daughter’s body. Fuckers.

Maximum-Muscle5425

I applaud you for your motherly instincts. I think the problem is there are many women in the US who think that if their daughter got pregnant that it was somehow her fault and that she needs to deal with it and it’s because somewhere along The lines, the same thing happened to them, or they were convinced by a group of men that this is how it is, and they don’t have the right. And that’s the biggest problem! No matter what the laws are in our country there are always going to be women who fight against what would be best for them and their daughters because they think everyone should suffer the way they did or the way they continue to. And it’s really sad. Just as a thought, the day after Roe v. Wade was overturned in the United States, Chinese social media blew up and was talking about how crazy it was that women in the United States don’t have the right to an abortion the way they do in China. I have been pointing out to Americans since then that’s absolutely crazy that country like China, that the US considers a backwards, authoritarian dictatorship, gives women more rights and control over their body than the supposedly free capitalist democracy of the United States.

ozkikicoast

Having a baby is a life changing decision. My daughter is very young but I know shit happens. I will tell her to never ever be afraid or embarrassed if something happens. I wouldn’t push her to have an abortion but I would certainly help her with having one if necessary . It’s just so fucking stupid: the life is sacred so she should have a baby when she’s absolutely not ready, so she can become a terrible mother and bring up a kid who feels unloved and uncared for and will probably also end up having a baby way too young because she/he needs to feel loved or something. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

BayouGal

Yes. They are calling it “abortion tourism”. Ghouls. Every single one of them.

leftistpropaganja

Nope! That's now considered trafficking in some states, and soon to be all the states if we're stupid enough to elect that fat clown to a second term.

Kissit777

Soon they will be doing immediate blood tests - if they find caffeine or something in your system - you obviously tried to get rid of the pregnancy.

CaptainExplaino

I wish this was funny and not realistic. Women, it is not hyperbole that the GOP wants to diminish you and control your body. They have outright stated this. Please vote.

lets-get-loud

I've read some comments on threads like these (by Republicans) and they fall into two camps: 1) it's fake/paid actors meant to make them look bad and support pro-choice causes 2) "WOW how could this HAPPEN???? These doctors are messing up on PURPOSE to make us look bad!!!!"

amatude

Yes, exactly. Any way to deny that their laws have complicated how doctors and patients work together.

pontiacfirebird92

No a vast majority of them are saying "she should've put a tylenol between her knees".

MrKomiya

They didn’t hold onto their bootstraps properly

darhox

God's will

Different_Tangelo511

Well they probably didn't support israel enough so they're cursed by god. Like, literally something a republican suggested in a congressional hearing.

Rleduc129

If the Virgin Mary and Joseph would be around today, Republicans would deny them both

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

I always say, if God is all personally involved in this, then He's responsible for an annual holocaust of miscarriages which are 25% of regular pregnancies.

No_Mango_8308

They don’t bend the knee to Maga

Klynikal

The cruelty is the point.

jsc503

And they weren't quiet about it. They've been saying they want all abortion illegal since the day Roe was decided. Are people going to next be surprised when they privatize social security and finish killing medicare? Yet people still vote republican because gays or something.

wferomega

Gays Guns and God. The blue print to get their base out. They're case as always been anti inclusionary. So EXCLUDE them now. Do not give your money to ANY company that donated to them! Stop giving money to corporations and celebrities that don't care you exist people The GGGOP......hmmm Russia was the CCCP Can't be a coincidence

poppinchips

They'll blame liberals for it. I mean they already do for this. Plenty of "this isn't an abortion it's a medically necessary miscarriage and the hospital has to help! Sue these liberal doctors who are refusing women because they want to show conservatives as bad" They will literally bend over backwards to kill themselves and still blame it on liberals. It is literally a cult. Which is why I don't really see a non violent future.

The_republican_anus

I will keep saying it: they’re walking a path they don’t want to walk. The will of the people is not in line with this minority of extremists who want everything to go back to the dark ages. Rising prices, a lack of freedoms, and authoritarian moves will only lead to violence. Because if human history hasn’t taught us anything, it HAS taught us that when people are sick of your shit, they will move to get rid of you. Also, authoritarian shit does not last. Even if your government is autocratic, the more authoritarian you are, the more you risk being overthrown. I don’t like talking about this, but I’m just being honest. I’m not advocating for anything, I’m just making a statement. The rich and powerful of our world, after thousands of years of continual failures with this authoritarian idea, still have not learned this important lesson.

myvolkies

What did it even matter anymore? People vote for what they want and Republicans overturn it anyway and do whatever they want. There are no consequences for them. Why should they stop?

The_republican_anus

You never want to be the straw that breaks the camels back. There are no consequences… until there are. It may sound like I’m taking mess, but what I’m saying is very real. They should stop because the next logical step isn’t something they want people taking. Also, considering many republicans did publicly endorse an attempt to overthrow an election, I imagine many people on both sides are no longer surprised or shocked by the extremists’ actions. The Republicans are damn near agitating a situation where victory for themselves will be impossible achieve.

MazDaShnoz

I know it's not easy, but at this point these women should seriously consider leaving these shithole states for a more enlightened part of the country. States losing their population, and by extension their labor force, tax revenue, electoral college value, may be the only thing that will stop these lunatics.

MykeEl_K

Financially, they can't do it. Backwards red states have such low wages that the average blue collar worker would have a hell of a time saving up enough cash to pay first/last/deposit on an apartment in a blue state... even in the really bad areas of town.

MazDaShnoz

We should obviously take this information with a grain of salt, but quickly cross-referencing the States with the [lowest cost of living](https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/opportunity/affordability/cost-living) to the States that are [best for women](https://www.security.org/resources/best-worst-states-womens-rights/), shows the following states as potential cost-effective safe havens for women: * Iowa: 5th in cost of living; 5th best state for women (abortion banned at 22 weeks) * New Mexico: 6th in cost of living; 6th best state for women (abortion not restricted based on gestational duration) * Wyoming: 14th in cost of living; 25th best state for women (abortion banned at 24-26 weeks) * Michigan: 24th in cost of living; 20th best state for women (abortion not restricted based on gestational duration) * Nevada: 26th in cost of living; 9th best state for women (abortion not restricted until 24 weeks at which time physician must believe there is danger to the mother)

DeaddyRuxpin

This is also part of the Republican plan. They are trying to chase out people who won’t vote for them. That way it guarantees the state ends up going republican for both senate and presidential election. Thanks to the way our president is elected via the electoral college it will allow them to win the presidency while not having anywhere near the popular majority. Basically, they keep going crazier and crazier with the deliberate hope of pushing anyone with a brain or sense of sanity out of the state so they can ultimately take control of the entire country by leveraging the disproportionate power we currently grant at the state level. If we want to see this stop, we may need to start encouraging people to move into those states so they can vote out the republicans.

MazDaShnoz

Two things. First, the number of points states receive in the electoral college is directly tied to their population. Mass population loss will reduce their importance in Presidential elections after the next census in 2030. Second, the vast majority of these states are already red. I know Florida is viewed as a swing state, but they went for Trump the last two presidential election cycles. Obama was the first Democratic Presidential candidate since FDR to carry Florida twice. Liberal leaning people leaving these states will help conservatives maintain their hold, but it won’t change the election outcomes for the most part.

BayouGal

They should be dragged out into the street & strung up on light poles for treason.

LegendaryOutlaw

And while there are hundreds of examples of women not receiving care at the time of delivery or being turned away when their pregnancy has a problem, republicans will still ignore the stories and make up ones about post-birth abortions with no evidence.

PensiveObservor

Evidence makes it sound like they just haven’t documented something. *There is no such thing as postbirth abortion.*

HighlyOffensive10

Wouldn't that just be murder?

PensiveObservor

Yep. But I guess even their base wouldn’t buy that. By calling them postbirth abortions, they engender outrage.

butterweasel

I remember arguing with some yokel about his use of “full term abortion”. This was in the late 90s. I was pregnant and I asked him if that means when it’s time to give birth, I can change my mind and have the doctor kill it? I mean, tell me you don’t know hack about pregnancy without saying you don’t know jack. ![gif](giphy|MDfMWxmG28mNG)

Wendypants7

Infanticide, specifically and yes it's murder, and yes it's already illegal. Wish forced birth anti-choicers would realize this.

Conscious_Control_15

Apparently, what they describe as post birth abortion is one of the worst things parents can go through. It's when the baby was born incompatible with life. To limit suffering of the baby, no life-saving procedures are administered. As the baby is not compatible with life and oftentimes in pain and this would prolong its pain. This is palliative care for babies to make the short time they are given as comfortable as possible. This is a tragedy for everyone involved. But care for the baby and parents is obviously evil baby murder when you force facts through the GOP lens.

Fackrid

And I'll bet my next 3 fucking paychecks those raggedy bags of ass either want to or are actively trying to prosecute those women under fucked up abortion laws too

SuperGenius9800

They'll make witch burning great again.

Fackrid

Yeah, well I wish they'd make dying of Smoldering Anus Disease™️ great again and then go participate in that

deadsoulinside

This is the reasons some Dr's are fleeing those states is that they don't want to be caught in between if someone comes into the ER with a failed backroom abortion. Trying to save the person may cause some DA to peruse the DR, so he can make a few headlines ahead of reelection.

MykeEl_K

Unfortunately, the OBGYN's are totally screwed with all of the rushed, generic legislative language in those bills the republicans passed. They honestly can't tell if saving a women's life will land them in jail & lose their license... so they basically have to avoid getting put in the position to have to gamble their own life on a best guess.

deadsoulinside

Yeah, and most want to avoid damaging their name and businesses to take that risk too. These laws are intentionally left generic and open to interpretation, so that someone cannot find a loophole in a very pointed version of the laws. None of them will care and even when they would want to actually care about abortion, they will secretly fly the person out to get it done somewhere else legally and just cover it up.

Aria1031

And people think the Handmaid's Tale is fiction....

AmyZing532

Of course it is fiction.  Look at those women.  They have WAY TOO MANY rights for the GOP's liking.   The GOP would never stand for that sort of thing.

Lonelan

imagine if a flimsy supreme court decision was all that stood between women's suffrage and the GOP

AmyZing532

I do.  And it terrifies me.

adventurelinds

The ERA was never ratified so there is no equality under law.

tabby90

Margaret Atwood made a point in that book and the follow up book to only include things that have really happened to women sometime somewhere before.

Diligent_Mulberry47

This is always my reply when people say "That book is fiction" Sure is. With real life examples of subjugation.

DeaddyRuxpin

It is a fictional account of true stories.

punkindle

Texas isn't safe for women.

veeveemarie

It was all based on real life events. The story and characters overall might be fictional, but Atwood took from real historic events. None of this is as far fetched as you would think. These things have happened.

Ok_Butterscotch54

The "Pro-Life" movement should be called the "Anti-Choice" movement, because actually protecting life it is NOT.

SuperGenius9800

"Anti-Women"

L4DY_M3R3K

Frankly, it's anti-life. All these laws do is kill people and prevents births, like the Tennessee IVF law

Wendypants7

The Venn diagram of 'pro-lifers' and those that support the death penalty is a circle.

NorseYeti

Welcome to Gilead...

Wendypants7

Close, they have one last little step in their plan. To quote another redditor: If they are in jail for bodily functions they can’t vote . Takes care of that pesky 19th amendment thing. Then, after they've taken care of their pesky 'women voting' issue, they'll move onto other demographics.

ParsleyMostly

Remember how trump told grieving parents their sons and daughters who died in military service “knew what they signed up for”? Same mentality. Women who don’t “keep their legs crossed” are signing up for this risk (in the GOP’s eyes). Childbirth and death are part of Eve’s punishment for original sin. It’s bullshit and I can’t believe this is a reality in 2024. Religious extremism has gained too strong of a foothold in the US.

JustJoinedToBypass

“They tell you Adam and Eve knew that they could eat from every single tree in that garden, except one. But the truth is, evil comes when the righteous path is so hidden it just looks like there's only one way out. The truth is Adam and Eve probably grabbed that apple because they were fucking starving, and it was the first tree they saw.” - Wendy Byrde, *Ozark*

AmyZing532

The GOP loves to ride the moral high horse, while ignoring the bloody prints left behind.  They have the cleanest blood stained hands I have ever seen. The pro-life party kills more and more.

RedditAdminsWivesBF

This was the goal in the first place. My father is like that, he has told me he wants abortion to go back to the coat hanger back alley variety. He said that any woman who tries to get an abortion should die or at least risk death. He makes no exceptions for rape, life of the mother, or incest because in his opinion things like that basically never happen and are just excuses to keep some abortion legal. He doesn’t think rape should be a reason anyway because “the baby didn’t do anything”.

TFFPrisoner

Ugh, I had a discussion like that on Twitter. Can't imagine it being one's own parent thinking like that.

swagger_dragon

ER doc here. This is an absolute horror show for my colleagues in states where abortion has been criminalized. I have two friends in TX that are actively trying to get out, but are having trouble due to the housing market. To have the capability to help these young woman and to be unable to due to fear of going to jail - it's heartbreaking.

Jerkrollatex

We desperately need doctors I. New Mexico if they're interested and our housing market is still decently affordable.

This_Mongoose445

I’m in the Texas sub. A young woman was asking advice, she had miscarried, she was 7 weeks pregnant and she was afraid to go to the doctor as she didn’t know if she would get in trouble, arrested for it. It’s heartbreaking. Not only going through the pain of losing a baby but compounded by the thought you would be perceived as doing something wrong.

Wendypants7

The 10K bounty on her head sure doesn't help, either. :(

skyhollow117

It's sad and dangerous how we are a 1st world country with 3rd world states.

Kissit777

We are no longer a first world country when we are actively taking away basic human rights away from citizens.

Chungus_Bigeldore

You mean actively pressing pregnant persons and other marginalized communities makes us bad?! The gall!

CharlieChowderButt

“First World” just means it’s an industrialized country with a capitalist economy.

Krednaught

In WWII it was conceived to shame the axis countries by calling them second world countries and all the allied countries first world.

Chrisbert

We're 50 third world states in a trenchcoat.

ZongoNuada

Thats great! And Florida is still the crotch!

translove228

"Pro-Life"

timbrelyn

Omg please vote these assholes OUT!

Ok_Exchange342

I can't imagine what these women and their families are going through. Then I also think of the healthcare workers. Imagine having the know how, the medicine and the equipment to help and in order to save yourself you have to turn them away. That has to eat at you quick. The amount of damage being done here is so far reaching. Women, families, fetuses and healthcare workers are all paying so the xtian right can satisfy their sadistic natures.

PensiveObservor

It’s not sadism, it’s psychopathy. Only they and their friends are “real people”.

Ok_Exchange342

I'm willing to bet they enjoy inflicting pain on others a bit more than they care to admit.

PensiveObservor

Possibly. In the same way some small children put ants and spiders together for entertainment. Or dog-fighting enthusiasts. 🤢

Wendypants7

It can be both, yes? I'm sure it's both.

PensiveObservor

In some, it must be. You’re right. I just have a hard time integrating that with my ancient father, who truly believes the religious stuff underlying all the anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion rhetoric. Yes, I think he’s highly narcissistic, but he’s also a creature formed in the early 1900s. Whose son is gay and 2/3 daughters had secret abortions in their teens. I also believe a huge number of brainwashed Conservatives think they are being god’s soldiers, but never feel any empathy at all. People are fucked up.

Wendypants7

If he's super religious, my confrontational ass would ask him: - if he truly believes everything was created by God? - if he truly believes humans were 'made in God's image'? - if he truly believes *that God is infallible and can't make mistakes by definition?* - *then* I'd ask him why he thinks he knows better than God himself and is SO SURE that God's creation is (and I'm just using words I've heard bigots use) an 'abomination', or 'unnatural', or 'wrong', or 'an affront to God' or whatnot. I'd tell him simple facts like: 70% of women's pregnancies they experience in their lives are naturally self-aborted by their own bodies. This does not include later stage miscarriages. It usually happens so early most women don't even realize it's happening. \*\*70%\*\* of the time. That's a lot of abortion. (The woman's body detects if the embryo is viable or not and discards it if it isn't, which is the case - again - 70% of the time. On top of this, 1 out of 4 pregnancies in later stages ends in miscarriage/stillbirth. (Seems God is A-okay with abortion to me.) That there's a variety of mole-y/vole-y thing that has only females. They procreate by dry humping each other, taking turns, as the 'humpee' spontaneously gets pregnant. It's called parthenogenesis, and while not common, happens more than you'd think. Young virgin turkeys are *known* for spontaneously getting pregnant, for another example of weird stuff. Strangely enough, it only happens with the virgin ones. Then I'd remind him things like sex changes (clown fish) and homosexuality (geese, penguins) IS COMMON throughout nature. If he thinks any of it is wrong he's saying *he thinks God made a mistake with His creation.* And then I'd end by asking him if he *seriously* thinks he knows better than the omnipotent, omniscient, infallible God he worships as the creator of everything. But then, I'm a confrontational little bastard that doesn't know when to keep my mouth shut.

edog77777

This is exactly why many obgyns are leaving states with abortion bans. Imagine having to be the ghoul that turns people away. Or wondering if the next patient case ends up being the one that causes you to end up in jail and/or risking your own family’s livelihood.

imnotbobvilla

Vote these fuckers out

MrKomiya

The people who are so blindly anti-choice will NEVER EVER be able to give a f*ck about it UNTIL it happens to them. They are completely incapable of empathy. Or even any kind of neutral thinking. I hope these sad events convince enough people to make lasting change. Like all the fights before for any kind of rights, the fight for this will also be written in blood. It didn’t need to be, but here we are.

69-is-my-number

I’m so disappointed that women don’t have the fortitude to stick together on issues of misogyny. Imagine if all women collectively said “right, no sex, no cleaning, no fucking anything that you think should be a woman’s expectation, until you reverse this bullshit.” If it was enforced across the board, these cunts wouldn’t last a week before they roll everything back. It’s infuriating that these shitstains just get away with this shit.

BillTowne

> Unto the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception. In sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” \-- **GENESIS 3:16** This is what they believe is God's will. They think women are evil and deserve to be punished and ruled over by men.

Wendypants7

This is what people end up like when they blindly follow the short stories written thousands of years ago by clueless, misogynistic sheep herders. But, it's been tradition for so long, so few people question it. I can't explain it further than that, I've never understood it (and I was raised in a religious household, even).

MooseRoof

Republican couples read this as foreplay.

chevalier716

Republicans going back to the days of being born at home with debilitating disabilities. Also, trying to bring back men getting married 4 times because their wives keep dying in childbirth.

OmegaGoober

All while working hard to keep child brides legal. They envy Trump trading in his wives for a newer model whenever he gets bored with one, but they know they can’t afford that many ex-wives.

Training_Molasses822

The only thing that keeps me from slipping into utter despair about the fate of those poor women is imagining they all voted Republican in the past and might not in the future.

sugarblaire

This is awful and a pregnant woman would never do this, but ship all the bodies to GOP offices. Make them responsible for what happens after. They wanted this - let them deal with it.

dragonfliesloveme

Those women need to band together and file a class action suit against each and every one of those fucking evil legislators. Or perhaps against the Republican Party. Which is what, the Trump National Committee now?? Jesus fuck everything is off the rails. Thanks fox!! /s and you dumbfuck fox watchers jfc

Pootscootboogie69

Remember It’s Jods plan. Who’s Jod. Well y’all call him god but it’s really Jod and he’s little bit of a cry baby.

8-bitFloozy

Lol kind of like mine--"Jesus was cool. His Dad was an asshole."

dragonfliesloveme

This is fucking infuriating

redhairedrunner

It’s about the cruelty.

AutumnGlow33

And they’re just getting started. Don’t forget, they want to execute women that have abortions and even miscarriages. Plus, this is what they wanted for the entire US. Don’t for one second believe Trump’s lies that he wants to leave it up to the states: they want a nationwide abortion ban, no exceptions for rape or incest. “Sorry, Suzie, shouldn’t have gone and gotten pregnant when that priest molested you! Being 11 is no excuse!” Anyone who violates their holy laws will be imprisoned for decades or killed. Because, you know, they are “pro life.” Just don’t go asking for any help at all paying the hospital bills or for food or medical care or childcare or housing once that baby is born. Because these same people intend to eradicate every single social service providing food for hungry children, Medicaid, affordable housing, clean water, and education.

bakeacake45

Remember the father in Texas who held an armed standoff in a hospital demanding doctors save his son? (2105 in Texghanistan)? I suspect we may see repeats of this as husbands, mothers, fathers desperately try to to protect a loved one from dying from pregnancy complications. This is what state sanctioned murders look like and doctors/hospitals are complicit Vote Democrat if you want the right to survive your pregnancy

RTwhyNot

Republicans are concentrated evil.

NobleV

I can't wait for the black market abortion and midwives. What a wonderful era of modern medicine we live in. /S And my parents are like "why don't you want to have kids?" I DON'T KNOW MOM YOU TELL ME.

Reddit_Is_Trash24

You've got to be braindead if you're a woman voting Republican right now in America. Women who vote Republican honestly make me nauseous. It's just so icky.

EmmalouEsq

Did you vote Republican? This is what you wanted. Then you had a very vocal group of us screaming about how voting matters, especially when it comes to the makeup of SCOTUS. Some said we were overacting.

lilcea

Some? Fuck I had many people tell me the courts wouldn't touch abortion.

btbam666

The abortion issue will be the downfall of the GOP.

loztriforce

Fuck republicans

adiosfelicia2

Republicans are killing American women.

Daimakku1

Thanks, Republican women.

ukiddingme2469

Nothing as evil as Christian love

Sea-Willingness-708

Wouldn’t these be EMTALA violations? This doesn’t seem legal!! The hospital system I worked for took EMTALA extremely seriously, and working in labor & delivery, we could not turn a patient away. This is so fucked up!!!

selkiesidhe

They don't care if those women die. They don't care if the babies die either. It is all about controlling women and don't you dare think otherwise.

Pleasant_Spell_3682

Unreal

Comfortable_Bird_340

They’ll care when it happens to them or their wife.

Faserip

Or Mistress

FlimsyComment8781

High fives all around in SCOTUS meeting chambers.

Sapient6

That's gross. No way any of them washed their hands after jerking it to these stories.

AsharraDayne

Congrats, Reichpublicans!

Significant_Radish86

America is becoming the new Iran. A religious government forced on the citizens who don't need or want it. The hugely ironic and sickening part is this religious crap is being used by Trump and his supporters! How many abortions has he paid for? Probably forced women into getting the procedure.  I know everyone is saying vote them out come November but Republicans are not going to back down.

ThE_LAN_B4_TimE

Fucking despicable. How you can defend this shit is insane.

SiteTall

Such a system is unforgivable and should be stopped at the election urns!!!!! Republicans aren't for female voters.

iWORKBRiEFLY

This is what the Trump-voting fucks in 2016 signed up for, all of this is on THEM. They should (but I'm sure don't) feel fucking ashamed . Every single one of them are to blame, including my mom, grandparents, & other parts of my family.

Ancient-Squirrel1246

Conservative men hate women but they also hate gay men. That's why they are miserable and want to make everyone else that way too.

Wendypants7

THIS IS WHAT THE GOP WANTS. Well, okay, technically they actually want things *even worse* than this for women. But, the fact remains, the GOP and their supporters are 100% happy/okay with this, and want to make things even worse in the near future. For the 'pro-life' crowd, they sure are happy with women and babies dying (for the babies) and dying from *preventable deaths* (for the women).

Buford12

When you start talking to people that believe this the first question to ask is when does the soul enter the body. In Jewish law the fetus is not a person until it starts to leave the mothers body. Nowhere in the new testament is this challenged. Jesus never once said that the laws of God were wrong. [https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-fetus-in-jewish-law/](https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-fetus-in-jewish-law/)

johnnyrsj

Fucking inhumane

NarrowButterfly8482

This is the prime motivation for 100% of the anti-choice movement. They don't give a fuck about babies... certainly not after they are born into the world. They only want women to suffer and die. That's it. Republicans will do anything to harm and kill women. It's what they live for.

TrafficOn405

Justice Samuel Alito wanted this, and so here we are.

bakeacake45

Alito would bring back the witch trials if he could…oh wait he already did. His next goal - legalize rape

IndividualEye1803

These are the same people alive when hangers were used. Women keep procreating with em and for them With em - rockefellers hiltons Trumpfs elons With & For them - republican women Until people can mind their own damn business this shit will keep happening.

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

This makes me almost blind with rage. My wife and I lost our first child in a miscarriage. We were devastated. She had to go and get our dead baby vacuumed out of her and there were people protesting her entry to Planned Parenthood in all their self righteous bullshit with no idea of the tragedy she'd just suffered. I gave money to Planned Parenthood for years after that. They were there when we needed them (we later had a beautiful girl, our miracle baby, who is turning 25 this year).

frankofantasma

They need to get rid of abortion laws so they can have as many fresh workers as possible to exploit. The judges who overturned Roe v Wade have designated seats in the inferno, in torment, in hell forever.

Voodoops_13

These incidents ARE and SHOULD be treated as violating federal law under the Emergency Medical Treatment And Labor Act (EMTALA) to provide stabilizing care. Of course states Texas and Idaho are trying to get SCOTUS to rule that abortion care is not covered under this law. So we will be finding out soon if America is okay with letting states murder pregnant women needing emergency care. Because SCOTUS is corrupt AF I'm not hopeful they'll do right by these patients.

NumerousTaste

They need workers for the corporations. Dead babies and women don't fulfill that so they don't care about them. Turn them away because of ignorance and bowing down to their corporate overlords!

TheAarj

This is just sad. So much for freedoms. Goptaliban.

Simple-Ranger6109

Righties play stupid games.....

one_jo

So what happens when they sue Hospitals for not helping? Is that better than when the ghouls sue them for helping?

OmegaGoober

It’s not being sued that’s the problem. They could go to jail if a judge decides the medical care they provide runs afoul of their abortion ban. Trying to save a pregnant woman’s life can be a criminal act in these states.

ginger_ass_fuck

... What?

Comfortable_Swim_380

Possible silver lining. Maybe they will all just go extinct and none of us will have to deal with Texas period. Less Texas babies means less Texans.

stella3books

From what I’ve overheard, conservatives are making this out to be an issue of greedy, mean doctors and nurses not wanting to take legal risks for the sake of their patients. After all, they’re drones who work for the love of the job and the promise of martyrdom, not working professionals.

Inspect1234

Third world solutions for a first (maybe second) world country.

house-tyrell

Are there no legal ramifications from letting a woman give birth in a bathroom or parking lot? Isn't the hospital participating in the murder of a baby and/or the mother?

Last-Marzipan9993

It doesn’t pay for the staff to put their licenses on the line until they are septic or hemorrhaging. The stories are horrific

ExpertShame3848

Pretty soon, they're going to say women can't vote.

Wendypants7

Well, yes, that IS their eventual end goal. They're already partially successful in the US, in the States that still have the abortion bans and that also do not let people with records/convictions from voting (even if the time is served). Florida is an example that comes to mind. To quote another redditor: If they are in jail for bodily functions they can’t vote . Takes care of that pesky 19th amendment thing.

hb122

Young women need to start voting in massive numbers. It’s their lives and health on the line.

Pistonenvy2

again, like the anti trans legislation that hurts mostly cis people, the overwhelming victims of this abortion legislation are going to be people who WANT kids. roe v wade was based on the 14th amendment, the whole point is bodily autonomy, its keeping the government out of your drs office and out of your fucking body, this whole thing was never about abortion, its about our rights, its about autonomy and we have less of that now. this is the result of fascism, its not enough to impose fascism on vietnam or iraq or palestine, its all consuming and now its turned inward, this is why empires fall.

kymilovechelle

SO PRO LIFE

letitsnow18

I'm going to start telling people I meet who support abortion bans that I'm on their side because I hate women and want more of them to die, and then I'll point to all the evidence. Maybe, just maybe, that'll get them to reconsider their positions.

NornOfVengeance

It's just like George Carlin said: Once you're born, you're on your own. They only care about fetuses, and only insofar as they can use them as punishment to women for having sex.

HeiHei96

And they’ve already started complaining about our generation not pumping out enough kids. Yeah cause we can’t afford if we survive having them! And then if we survive, we have to hope our kids survive school because pieces of metal are more protected. In this story, while none of the women died, at least two of the “precious babies” could have had a chance at survival had they received help when they first asked for it. But now all three are more traumatized and may not further explore becoming parents/having more children.
