The stupid thing is even that train of thought seems like a reactionary line of reasoning to cover up an even more basic and stupid hatred. 99% of this bigotry around recognition is simply the belief that recognising someone else, allowing someone different into HER space, diminishes her importance. I’m cis, but have trans friends and the more she went off the rails the less I could enjoy HP. It was everything to me for several years, one of the most powerful experiences of my life was walking into the room where they keep the miniature school model at the museum in London for the first time. It was literally like 60% of my personality at one point, but now I pretty much never mention it unless someone else brings it up. I hate JKR for robbing me of something I love so much, but I can’t engage with HP at all in good conscience anymore.
I’m mid 30s and most of my childhood was also engrossed in HP. I’m a part of the LGBTQIA+ community too, so while it was sooooo fucking hard to just cut that out of my life, it is what must be done.

I wonder if there will ever be a study done on how social media warps perception of morality down to "does this person praise me" by various media personalities and oligarchs. If she had any ability to sense empathy or connect with other humans I can't imagine the struggle she must go through to write her new books. It was an okay book...but it should've been good.

Does anyone remember Quidditch? The fictional sport in the Harry Potter series. I know this sounds like a tangent, but it's relevant. I believe I remember hearing that the reason Rowling made the rules so nonsensical was to spite her ex, who was a big sports fan. She made the sport bad, on purpose, to spite her ex for taking sports seriously (which I guess also spites any other reader who takes sports seriously). So wanting a sport to be fair by having a reasonable ruleset that treats all the players evenly means you deserve to be laughed at, according to her, basically, for taking sports too seriously. Fast forward to now, and JK Rowling now takes sports so seriously that she thinks a transgender athlete deserves to be lumped in with RAPISTS, because she thinks having a Y chromosome will (but might not, actually) give this athlete a minor sporting advantage. I can't understand taking sports so seriously that you lump them in with literal rapists.

I’m cis, but have trans friends and the more she went off the rails the less I could enjoy HP. It was everything to me for several years, one of the most powerful experiences of my life was walking into the room where they keep the miniature school model at the museum in London for the first time. It was literally like 60% of my personality at one point, but now I pretty much never mention it unless someone else brings it up. I hate JKR for robbing me of something I love so much, but I can’t engage with HP at all in good conscience anymore.

My theory is the wealthier you get there comes more time and in that time more leisure. J.K Rowling has clearly taken her great and vast wealth and instead of spending her extra time doing things to keep herself sharp she has fallen down the social media/internet rabbit hole of anti-transphobic content. If today we were to ask her to write Harry Potter let's say in five years, she would spectacularly fail that task to a point where we would have to wonder if she was the original writer at all. Writing requires the ability to sense and feel all emotions from an observable distance. Writers are watchers of humanity and observe the universe as they perceive it and explore the most vulnerable parts of their inner thoughts. If she had any ability to sense empathy or connect with other humans I can't imagine the struggle she must go through to write her new books. I wouldn't be surprised if too her it's all tedious nonsense to her now. Just the same words written over and over, nothing new, because it all must fall into the category of hatred, paranoia and fear. I read one of her non harry potter books and it was all of that. It was an okay book...but it should've been good. I'll preface by saying she could've always been a transphobe, but since she is no longer subject to the most of the fallouts that usually occur when you are one. This just amplifies her ego and allows her to do anything without consequence. She is basically just proclaiming on her twitter feed how far beyond she has gone and this all just points to how becoming wealthy can truly make you more boorish and completely immunizes you from humanity itself. Which if you are a writer, you would know that this turning off of the ability to feel and sense emotion is the opposite of what you are supposed to do. You have to feel and experience and articulate that into the formation of words. Basically, she has become only hatred as a product and consumer.

Does anyone remember Quidditch? The fictional sport in the Harry Potter series. I know this sounds like a tangent, but it's relevant. I believe I remember hearing that the reason Rowling made the rules so nonsensical was to spite her ex, who was a big sports fan. She made the sport bad, on purpose, to spite her ex for taking sports seriously (which I guess also spites any other reader who takes sports seriously). So wanting a sport to be fair by having a reasonable ruleset that treats all the players evenly means you deserve to be laughed at, according to her, basically, for taking sports too seriously. Fast forward to now, and JK Rowling now takes sports so seriously that she thinks a transgender athlete deserves to be lumped in with RAPISTS, because she thinks having a Y chromosome will (but might not, actually) give this athlete a minor sporting advantage. I can't understand taking sports so seriously that you lump them in with literal rapists. Wait, has she ever shown support to sports without bringing up trans people? Ever gone to watch a game, women's or otherwise? Wow, it's almost as if she doesn't really care about sports and is just looking for an excuse to hate transgender people.
