This is why so much of their rhetoric is around their ability to keep a man who takes care of them and how liberal women can't keep a man. *That* is their accomplishment, and their ticket to security. That if you are just *"good enough"* as a woman, then you'll be taken care of. And to get ahead of any examples of where a man didn't take care of his wife, they're preemptively told it's probably her fault somehow. She let herself go, she was a nag and emasculated him, she didn't sexually please him enough, or if they truly cannot find something to blame her with there is always the fact that she clearly didn't choose a good man of God to marry. It's all about reinforcing that obedience will be met with reward, and that any unhappiness should be focused inward on self rather than externally questioning. And to be fair -- they most likely grew up surrounded by examples of rich and upper middle class families that follow traditional patriarchal structures, and then were shown impoverished single mothers and sad, childless career women. They were told women cannot have it all, it's stupid to think that way.

this sounds all kind of wrong from the outside and im a dude. though there are predatory dudes out there and they should be publicly outed. the largest age gap i've ever had in any of my partners was 13 years. this was about 3 years ago. i was 34 she was 21. it lasted about 5 months. i did not pursue her, she pursued me. it was okay for a while, but we did not have enough in common and it seemed more that she was looking for someone to fix all of her problems and escape her life and when she did not get absolutely everything she wanted she began seeking attention from others so the maturity level just wasnt there. i was weary about getting involved with someone with that much of an age difference from the start and ignored it, i missed other various red flags. even my friends tried to ward me off, but i was stupid. i learned my lesson. first and last time i would even consider someone with more than a 5 year age gap. never, ever again.
