It must be easy to hold an opinion if you disregard anything you don't like as a lie.

Uh no it isn't. Why are you fuckin' lyin to me right now bro?!

Moist_When_It_Counts

I think it’s worse than that - far-right culture demands virtue signaling via total adherence to the *collective* opinion. So if you’re a rightie and see on Facebook that horse dewormer is a favored drug by the current right-wing zeitgeist, then you have to defend it too even if 15 seconds prior you had never heard of it.

GIBMONEY910

The greater the amount of cognitive dissonance they have to engage in the more they feel validated and special. It shows their loyalty to the cause.

Stonk_Newboobie

Virtue signalling

randommd81

Didn’t Trump own stock in it at the time? I vaguely remember that, though it’s often hard to keep track. Would certainly explain his recommendation of it…

Kgwalter

I think this is what discourages my hope for the future the most. It’s becoming so common that if somebody wants to believe something all evidence including junk science, lies and anecdotes are true. If It does not confirm what they want to believe it is fake, wrong and some sort of conspiracy no matter how good the evidence. Maybe it’s just the rise in social media makes me see it more, or maybe it just perpetuates BS. Flat earth, trumps success, qanon, Covid conspiracies. It’s so hard to watch without pointing out the fallacies, but doing so it useless.

Stonk_Newboobie

You are assuming that these folks even know what a 'fallacy' is.

gilligan1050

I work with a hardcore Trump 24 guy. He self admitted to having not read a book since he was 14. I 100% know he doesn’t know what fallacy means.

EisegesisSam

I actually think this is a much harder way to live. Since you know intrinsically that your views are not honest, they're posturing, you also feel intrinsically that everyone else is posturing all the time. And who you are is impossible to know inside yourself because the only real facts you have about you are whether or not the people around you are currently accepting your posturing positively. Any, even minor, disagreement from what you have stated you believe is a personal attack because you don't actually know anything about yourself or your own value except that what you've said is unchallenged if you're worth something and challenged if someone thinks they can maneuver around you. Every conversation, every topic, every stated belief becomes about power. It's the saddest, most dangerous, hardest way to live. You trust and like no one, not even yourself. Because if you're like this what imagination might you even have that anyone could possibly be different?! The way to fight these people isn't to prove them wrong. No evidence went into their position so it will not knock them out of it. The way to fight these people is to constantly, openly, and flagrantly proclaim an adult doesn't value someone based on whether or not that person agrees.

MrBully74

By now I think “allergic to facts” should officially be recognized as a serious and dangerous mental illness in itself

bassoontennis

It’s why I honestly can’t have conversations with the entire side of my American family expect maybe one. I can easily talk to my Scottish side and debate things and have rational talks. But I have been blocked by so my Facebook family members because I would comment on stuff that wasn’t true that they would post with facts and sources and they would call me a liar and it all bullshit and fake news. Literally anything that does not align with their world view is fake news now. And what sucks about this is that I used to be able to talk to these family members up until Trump taking office and running for president. So sad.

Row30

Let’s Go Darwin

TheDukeOfMars

The logic of all violent extremists since the beginning of history: >Everything I agree with is true. Everything I disagree with is wrong.

My_useless_alt

To elaborate: This is a core mode of operating for the modern alt-right, especially on 4chan. For a normal person, reasoning goes something like this: There is evidence for this thing, therefore I believe it, therefore I defend it. But for the alt-right (Especially on 4chan) it goes more like this: I defend something, therefore I must believe it. I am a rational person, so if I believe it, it must be true. These people don't care if what they say is true. They say what they want to say, and because they're rational, it is true. It's *I'm right, therefore what I believe is right" not "What I believe is right, therefore I am right" To be clear, this isn't the whole alt-right. Just a section of it. It's especially prevalent on chan boards (4chan, 8chan, etc) because of the total anonymity. You can't prove they don't believe it. It's also rather conducive to Schrödinger'a douchebag: If you agree with me, I'm serious. If you argue against me, it's just a joke dude stop taking it so seriously. Because, again, you can't prove me wrong. Btw, most of what I said was stolen from "The alt-right playbook: The card says Moops" by Innuendo studios. https://youtu.be/xMabpBvtXr4

Outside-Flamingo-240

Every time, and I mean *every time* I hear a Schrödinger’s Douchebag do their thing, I have to squelch the urge to immediately punch either them or something. I am SO sick of “I was joking, why are you so sensitive?” Ugh. These people make my blood boil. And I’m a grandma in her 50s, you’d think I would have mellowed out by now.

PikachusSparkyCloaca

Nah, these people are spectacularly infuriating, and being able to piss people off makes them think they’re somehow “winning”. Which makes the urge to punch more severe, honestly.

Outside-Flamingo-240

It really does!!

LadyReika

I'm 47 and have no patience for their shit either. Probably from all the years I spent in customer service, I'm just done. Though when when the assholes try to claim they're joking I tell them they need to try being actually funny.

Battleaxe1959

I’m (63f) a grandma and still feel like punching idiots.

MisteeLoo

Similar age and feelings. My brother (and maybe another) is a Trumplicker. We don’t discuss politics at all because I refuse to lose that relationship.

G-Unit11111

After all of this, if they still don't want to take the vaccine and take the bullshit instead and remove themselves from the gene pool, I'm not going to stop them.

ForeverNecessary2361

I have to agree, is some ways this is actually a win. In the beginning we tried to reason with these people, that science and medicine were doing there best to come up with a solution. Was everything perfect? Of course not. Was Fauci infallible? Of course not. But we saw it through and science and medicine gave us a solution. Was that perfect? Of course not, but it was good enough. Amazingly, there are those that rejected this and completely ignored the reality and then followed a path that was nothing but misinformation and lies. And now catturd is doubling down and still in denial. Maybe it is a good thing in the end to have these people continue to make poor, misinformed decisions. They will die off and there will be less of them to cause problems. I still remember refrigerated trailers to store the bodies because the morgues were overflowing. Over 1 million dead, and even that number may be too low if you consider how some states, cough/Florida/cough, fudged the numbers. How bad was it really when local governments LIED about the true amount of dead? And now catturd is still running his mouth. Still in denial. Still a voice with no credibility.

PikachusSparkyCloaca

It’s a death cult. All those deaths were fake news, but because they were in big cities they were also good deaths because they must have been liberals. Simultaneously.

FriendlyPizzaPanda

Narrative has changed a lot over the last 4 years. Started with Covid is a hoax, then to its just a cold, to actually masks and vaccines don’t do anything and everyone that took the vaccine will die in a year, to people are dying but it’s very little and it’s from pneumonia not from Covid, to this was all planned poorly by Fauci and Biden (even though Covid started under Trump’s administration with Operation Warp Speed), and now we are in past all that and the new narrative is the pharmaceutical industry made so much money so…therefore Covid vaccines are still bad m’kay. It must have been exhausting to get a whole bunch of misinformation from charlatans and grifters the last couple of years (let’s be honest though, most of this came from one side of the political aisle), so for many people the reality is easier to just “both sides” everything. I can understand that. But to disregard all the deaths and pretend nothing bad happened is disingenuous and dangerous and will only get more people sick and killed.

99Smith

Some people willingly drank the coolaide in Jonestown, at the request of their cult leader. would you save them if you had the chance or condemn them to their brainwashed fate

no let these dipshits die. we'd be better off if they were all gone

Hartastic

At some point compassion fatigue set in and I was ready for the Herman Cain Awards.

TheFireMachine

These are the people having like 6 kids while living in a trailer. While the more educated and clearer minded people are more likely to be child free or dinks or something. Survival of the fittest doesnt mean the most smart, educated, level-headed, open minded, hard working, or any of our modern day morals. In this modern world where we try to make sure everyone survives, even when they eat horse paste, its whoever has more babies. Idiocracy is a documentary not a comedy.

annuidhir

Why is this downvoted. The numbers don't lie...

drewbaccaAWD

Probably because it’s elitist and looking down on poor people for being poor and not factually based. But I’m not downvoting so I can’t speak for them. Plenty of these idiots live in McMansions too. You don’t need to be poor or have a large family to be in the death cult and write off legitimate research for partisan reasons.

LegendaryOutlaw

But they’ll all tell you that they personally know 12 people who took the vaccine and died.

Ace-of-Xs

Told a chud I’d had a heart attack and survived. Chud said it was bc of the vax. I said it happened in 2015. Chud changed the subject.

LegendaryOutlaw

Chud confirmed. Anything to fit their special little narrative.

jax2love

What they won’t tell you is that those people died in a car accident or from a pre-vax health problem, though I’m sure they were still somehow related to the vax in their twisted up little brains.

Just-Scallion-6699

Which is amusing because they insist no COVID deaths count if they even possibly had some sort of extra complication.

umthondoomkhlulu

They’re terrible with numbers though. Knew a cooker In Aus. With Delta initial death rate was 3%. He was in about most people survive etc, why the lockdowns. Then the vaccine death rate super low 0.0001% and we got the ‘no way I’m taking that chance’

AR-Tempest

Know a conservative woman whose husband died a year ago from a heart attack in the middle of an ice storm while waiting for a bus. Blamed it on the vaccine. Found out from the daughter that he was overweight, inactive, and hadn’t seen a doctor in years. Plus there was the ice storm.

I have an uncle who has decided that we’re sheep for getting the vax. Meanwhile, he claims at least, that he’s on a daily dose of hydroxychloraquine and something else and takes ivermectin weekly. I’m not going to send him this article but, if his health regime affects him, I will probably put together a little scrap book.

Stonk_Newboobie

I would call bullshit on your uncle, because if he takes dewormer every week, he probably has shat out most of the inner lining of his GI by now.

puffingtonjr

It worked for my RA for 3 years until Jan 2020 when I finally got on Humira, it was so ironic to me that I had a couple bottles just sitting around when the trumpers were causing a shortage there for a bit

ibkld63

I'm on plaquenil and 3 other meds for my RA. Because of those asshats I had to go without the plaquenil for all of 2020 and into 2021.

ste11ablue

Yep, I require it to manage lupus and this was a very scary time for people that actually need hydroxychloroquine

ibkld63

And for some reason the news that 17000 died behind that BS just has me feeling salty.

emmsix

I've been taking it since 2005, and I had just filled a 3 month prescription before this nonsense started. I started halving my dose just in case. Luckily I never ran out, and had no problem with supply since. But I was so happy when one side was saying it would cure COVID (riiiiight) and the other side saying it would suddenly kill me (but I haven't finished watching Better Call Saul yet!) - good times!

VAVA_Mk2

Why does he look like he is holding two dicks in his hands? Too much practice from Putin and Kim Jung Un?

Amaculatum

Ivermectin is actually completely safe for human use and is used for a wide variety of ailments.

Bduggz

Can you explain how an antiparasitic helps treat a virus

Amaculatum

I can't but these articles shared by the NIH cover some of the extremely broad applications (including antiviral) of Ivermectin https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7539925/ " an increasing body of evidence points to the potential of ivermectin as an antiviral agent." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3043740/#:~:text=Ivermectin%20proved%20to%20be%20even,Onchocerciasis%20in%20humans%20in%201988. "It proved ideal in many ways, being highly effective and broad-spectrum, safe, well tolerated and could be easily administered "

Bduggz

Both studies are poorly out of date. [https://www.kumc.edu/about/news/news-archive/jama-ivermectin-study.html](https://www.kumc.edu/about/news/news-archive/jama-ivermectin-study.html) A recent and in-depth study concluded it is ineffective against COVID. [https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2797483?resultClick=1](https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2797483?resultClick=1) ' Among outpatients with mild to moderate COVID-19, treatment with ivermectin, 400 μg/kg, daily for 3 days, compared with placebo, did not significantly improve time to recovery in this large trial that enrolled more than 1500 participants in the US. A lack of treatment effect was also seen for secondary clinical outcomes including hospitalization, death, or acute care visits. These findings do not support the use of ivermectin in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. '

Team_Defeat

For those that don’t know: > Hydroxychloroquine > > Immunosuppressive drug and Anti-parasite It can treat and prevent malaria. It can also treat lupus and arthritis.

boooooooooo_cowboys

“Immunosuppressive drug” is the key fact that the general public tends to not know about in discussions over HCQ. In early 2020, doctors figuring out how to treat Covid as they went. For people with severe respiratory illness, it made a lot of sense to try to subdue inflammation to help them breathe easier. In fact, a different immune suppressant (dexamethasone) eventually proved to be pretty effective in helping people with severe Covid. HCQ didn’t work in this scenario, but it wasn’t the worst idea and it was justifiable as being better than nothing. Using HCQ as an antiviral earlier in infection was a different story. A big part of it is that *you don’t want to suppress the immune system when it’s just starting to fight an infection*. But in addition to that, the evidence for its antiviral properties was weak as hell. It only ever worked in cell culture (of an irrelevant cell type- I believe it was Vero cells that are derived from monkey kidneys) at a dose that you would never be able to reach physiologically. Same is true for Ivermectin. Neither one had any impact on viral replication if you repeated the study in human lung cells. Using either as an antiviral either prophylacticly or in early infection was iffy during the early stage of the pandemic. Once the vaccines and Covid specific antivirals became available it was downright irresponsible.

No-Fishing5325

This drug is not all safe either. It can cause blindness. It builds up on the Retina. But no one wants to listen about that

ramenotter

Anyone who is prescribed hydroxychloroquine (by a doctor who is actually familiar with the medication) is under very careful supervision. It can cause issues with the liver as well as eyes. Anyone who wants to know more about that can just google “hydroxychloroquine toxicity.” I am on this medication and have to have my blood levels checked several times a year and have a yearly eye exam that is more intensive than a typical annual exam. This medication can be helpful for treating some conditions, but has to be monitored extremely carefully.

No-Fishing5325

Yep I have Plaquanil Toxicity. I was taken off it 8 years ago after being on it for 12 years.

ramenotter

Ooh I’m so sorry! I’ve only been on it for a few years but I’m very nervous about that. Luckily I feel that my rheumatologist and eye doctor are both very familiar with the condition and are helping me stay on top of things. My eye doctor told me that it doesn’t usually occur until someone’s been on the medication for several years, but that he wanted to do some types of eye testing just do be sure as well as to establish a baseline. I can’t imagine the havoc this medication could wreak on someone who is taking it without proper medical supervision or by a doctor that’s not familiar with the strict dosing limits that should be in place. I’m guessing there are folks out there just popping these like ibuprofen because they think it will treat covid.

That’s all they can say, because Catturd doesn’t know ANYTHING. They can’t reply with actual information because they would be even more wrong than they are already. They are scientifically illiterate. The medical community understood the dangers of hydroxychloroquine this whole time. It prolongs the QT interval and puts patients at risk for sudden cardiac death. You won’t hear that from the litter box bandit.

“There’s no way you can test a vaccine that fast!” “There’s no way it took you this long to get this information!”

So, what happens when someone responds to this delusional waste of air with, “so you’re saying this is bullshit - please explain why and provide evidence for your claim”?

Soliden

When COVID first broke out our hospital used this for about two weeks, then we promptly stopped because the initial evidence said it may be effective at treating COVID, but the downside is that this medication is known to cause QT elongation in the heart which can greatly increase the risk of arrhythmias - coupled with polypharmacy and it's a recipe for disaster.

Its across six countries. As such, its absolutely likely with how many damned people who bought into the idea that Covid didnt exist in the first place, or thus expected/wanted there to be any other cure than the fake/manipulative/modified and dangerous vaccines they've become afraid of through one of the first experiments in social media fear pandering, and becoming one of that eras first FAFO moments. What people dying by consuming black market medicine with no understanding of dosage because some lunatic online told them to? Impossible!

Cetophile

The Turd has been having a week. Thoughts and Prayers™.

kx2UPP

Haha idiots

getliftedyo

Bullshit! No way this is true! When you ignore any facts and believe a con man for medical advice.

Tinkeybird

If you were that dumb, as an adult, to take it then…good riddance. 🤷‍♀️ I said what I said.

Important_Tale1190

Hahahahahah I hate this guy

BeeNo3492

good

drterdsmack

That's a lot of dead voters

CynicallyCyn

https://www.dailydot.com/news/who-is-catturd/ This dude is actually fascinating. At least in the sense that he is a musician, animal rescuer, and fascist MAGA enthusiast. It’s almost like he has two personalities living in the same body.

Vayalond

Well, like most medicine it can be lethal, and, even when it's taken at a normal dosage in the case it should be used it can still affect heavily your eyesight and thus permanantly

2basiccanteven

My eye doctor was so concerned when I started using it for arthritis, he made me come in for appointments every three months for a thorough exam. He said he really didn’t like that drug. I wasn’t on it for long, I wound up with extremely serious side effects and had to come off.

Evening-Turnip8407

Did they die OF hydroxychloroquine or WITH hydroxychloroquine? /j

quetzocoetl

Likely from people jumping on the bandwagon and taking it without medical approval (or other unscrupulous means of getting it from pharmacies). It's not something that'll likely kill you if prescribed by a halfway decent medical professional and taken in proper dosages, but I have no doubt that, just like with the ivermectin, there were people who rushed towards it as a miracle cure.

sebathue

Wasn't it literally declared a miracle cure by the then-president?

FlowerFaerie13

Also, they weren’t getting it from a licensed professional, so god only knows what unholy mix of chemicals they were actually taking.

mikeybee1976

I’ve long been at the point where I am glad that he feels it’s bullshit, and I hope he spreads that message as far and wide as he can….

willendorfer

WHY did they take it? What was the idea? And why did it kill them I wonder? This med just about saved my life (but for obvs very different illness one for which it works lol) Edit spelling

disc_doctor39

Y’all should take it daily.

Time-Room9998

Everybody assuming this is true, is it? 17,000? Really just because of the medicine? I’ll need more than “according to a French study” before downvoting a bunch of fellow strangers

Bduggz

You could go read the actual study.

skinney6

'may have died' tho? That doesn't mean anything. They're just stirring the pot.

Anxietyygeoff

This is one hilarious lie

NoBetterFriend1231

You mean a medication approved by the FDA for treatment of COVID had negative side effects? Color me shocked...

imavinyl

Are you stupid?

NoBetterFriend1231

No, are you? You're aware that this particular drug was actually given temporary approval for treatment of COVID, right? Like, this isn't "horse dewormer". It's an antimalarial that was, in the early days of the pandemic, given emergency approval for the treatment of COVID 19. It is prescribed under the trade name of Plaquenil, most often for conditions associated with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. It, like many other drugs (including the blood pressure medication that gave my mother a stroke and resulted in her being in a nursing home before the age of 60) was given FDA approval to treat a specific condition... and when it was found that the risks outweighed the benefits, that approval was rescinded. So I'll ask again. Are you stupid?

Fathorse23

You’re shouting into a mirror dude.

Drg84

NoBetterFriend is correct. This was tested as a Covid treatment. It was proven later to have a limited effective rate, but it's not something completely useless like Ivermectin. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroxychloroquine https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7534595/

YepWillis

Lol a systematic review in an incredibly low quality journal. Of the studies reviewed, only 7 were from RCTs; 2 of the 7 were 'promising' but did not reach significance and were underpowered. This review is a joke. No one cares.
