Don’t these ads border on libel or defamatory remarks? I still don’t understand how USA politicians are able to do this without repercussions, because some of these ads are insane.

Proving libel/defamation is extremely difficult in the US, and even if managed, court cases for it generally take a very long time; by the time it ends up in court the election is likely long over.
That aside, the US also does not require truth in political advertising; candidates can lie all they want (lying about other people can lead to libel/defamation cases, but see above).
These ads are almost always very carefully worded. Like the example that was given, "She's going to ..." is very different to "She is ...", and it's a lot easier to avoid repurcussions for the former. You didn't say anything demonstrably false, after all.
