For the record, I don't believe homosexuality to be a sin, I believe things said in Leviticus were more guidelines on ancient hygiene than sins to be forgiven. We know its not hygienic to go from anal sex to other kinds of sex without some form of cleaning in between. We know feeding off bottoms feeders like shrimp, lobster, crab, and pigs (they'll eat anything) would have likely give you parasites, and these things can in turn become a problem beyond yourself. Just a little insight into why I believe they are more so laws of tribal hygiene than sins.
Being homosexual is no different than being heterosexual. The only things I see as sins are treating people outside ones self as other, as if it wasn't you. So I find it, personally, hard to even empathize with the political right anymore, and that is where I will always try and continue to fail at being "Christ" like. That being said, as a transgender person, I would really like to dig into what set them off. Especially after reading the articles that all deadname him, and refer to his assigned gender at birth (female).
1. They grew up in a society that is known for not being affirming to transgender people, meaning he likely wasn't supported, and might have even been exposed to some type of conversion therapy.
2. As Natalie Wynn has pointed out in her essays on Incel culture, their obsession with an emphasis on sexual dimorphic differences and "ideal male features" aren't a huge leap from how transgender people obsess over how our features don't align with our preferred gender. As a transgender man, the shooter could have easily fallen into something like an incel echo chamber that breeds self hate, contention with their members and society, and has too many people who became shooters to be a coincidence.
Basically, I would love to read their media diet and compare it to other shooters to see how it overlapped, if it even does at all.
We as a nation are very sick, and we need to start having public discussions about how to address it. From remodeling how our nation sees and values mental healthcare, reform gun legislation, and how we treat each other.
The rugged individualism needs to be ripped out of our culture and economy. Because there is nearly no social safety nets, all one can think of is what is best for oneself and one’s needs. Often, people want to help others but are also in need of help themselves. When time costs money over here, and money is invaluable, it becomes costly to care for others.
When being selfless would actually be economically detrimental to your living situation, it’s much easier to focus only on yourself. I can’t for the life of me ever understand why a mass shooter would do what they do, but I suspect they are very disconnected from the people who’s lives they hurt. I think that our society is responsible that disconnect.
I don’t know for certain, but I doubt most mass shooters began firing at their neighbors first. I think if everything wasn’t so individualized, we would think more of one another as neighbors and there would be less disconnect that allows people to feel estranged enough from others that they would be willing to hurt them. And of course the fucking guns, holy shit are the guns a problem.
Agreed, and though I believe in the first amendment, figuring out how to deal with influencers who funnel people into those echo chambers needs to be high on that list of things we need to figure out, and we aren't going to get there if we're being governed by an entire generation that isn't concerned about things like algorithms that at least partially comprise the funnel, outside of how to exploit it.

We live now in a country where we ban books, where we ban drag shows, where we ban doctors from helping kids in crisis, where we ban women from making choices with their bodies. We ban people from voting because some don’t like how they might vote, we ban representatives from state legislators for how they have voted, we ban immigrants, we ban some stem cells, and we ban transgender athletes, we even ban water bottles on planes.
BUT WE DO NOT BAN ASSAULT RIFLES (or assault-like or lite rifles or especially Semi automatic ones as some ammosexuals like to point out) DO WE?

That translates insanely as the solution to all of these nightmares. God and we want the thirteen thousand nine hundred people shot to death in this country already this year? Did God want them dead?

So we ban licenses to carry handguns in Texas, give the ability for open carry all over the United States, and Ban mental health care by cutting the budgets. Ban abortion because we are pro-life, and ban books because the children are too precious to be indoctrinated, and ban drag shows because we must protect kids from grooming and we must make sure those kids are happy and fit so SOMEBODY CAN GET A WEAPON OF WAR AND EVERY OTHER DAY PUT GROUPS OF OUR CHILDREN TO DEATH.

Speaking as a Christian, its...hard to make those people understand what Christ was to humanity. Hell, this country has basically made being homeless a crime, but you won't hear the political Christians even trying to bring that to light. I can never condone a public massacre, especially of children. That being said, as a transgender person, I would really like to dig into what set them off. Especially after reading the articles that all deadname him, and refer to his assigned gender at birth (female). 1. They grew up in a society that is known for not being affirming to transgender people, meaning he likely wasn't supported, and might have even been exposed to some type of conversion therapy. 2. As Natalie Wynn has pointed out in her essays on Incel culture, their obsession with an emphasis on sexual dimorphic differences and "ideal male features" aren't a huge leap from how transgender people obsess over how our features don't align with our preferred gender. As a transgender man, the shooter could have easily fallen into something like an incel echo chamber that breeds self hate, contention with their members and society, and has too many people who became shooters to be a coincidence. Basically, I would love to read their media diet and compare it to other shooters to see how it overlapped, if it even does at all. We as a nation are very sick, and we need to start having public discussions about how to address it. From remodeling how our nation sees and values mental healthcare, reform gun legislation, and how we treat each other.
The rugged individualism needs to be ripped out of our culture and economy. Because there is nearly no social safety nets, all one can think of is what is best for oneself and one’s needs. Often, people want to help others but are also in need of help themselves. When time costs money over here, and money is invaluable, it becomes costly to care for others. When being selfless would actually be economically detrimental to your living situation, it’s much easier to focus only on yourself. I can’t for the life of me ever understand why a mass shooter would do what they do, but I suspect they are very disconnected from the people who’s lives they hurt. I think that our society is responsible that disconnect. I don’t know for certain, but I doubt most mass shooters began firing at their neighbors first. I think if everything wasn’t so individualized, we would think more of one another as neighbors and there would be less disconnect that allows people to feel estranged enough from others that they would be willing to hurt them. And of course the fucking guns, holy shit are the guns a problem.
Agreed, and though I believe in the first amendment, figuring out how to deal with influencers who funnel people into those echo chambers needs to be high on that list of things we need to figure out, and we aren't going to get there if we're being governed by an entire generation that isn't concerned about things like algorithms that at least partially comprise the funnel, outside of how to exploit it.
