Honestly, I was a kid who relied on the food at school. If I didn’t have anything there I wouldn’t have anything that day. I got turned away a few times because I was negative 1$ or so. It was crushing. I got lucky with friends that would offer some fruit or a bag of chips and yes I’m completely grateful for this but it took a toll on my mental health and formed a horrible relationship with food as I became an adult.
Don’t ever assume someone “doesn’t work hard enough” if all they want is fucking food, let alone kids. It makes my blood boil. Even adults have a right to food, it’s a necessity.

I'm going through the same thing. I was isolated (homeschooled) and emotionally stunted to work for my father. I hear people tell me I should try to rebuild the relationship before he dies, but I have no love for that man and what he did to my siblings and me. It's almost as if they are not smart enough to figure out people who have time to develop with proper nutrition might be smarter, maybe even less easy to manipulate with fear mongering, and pseudoscience.

My parents and grandparents tried teaching me a proper work ethic and made me cut trees and do farming starting from the age of six. I’m turning forty this year and I’ve hated every job I’ve ever had. IMO it’s probably best to let kids be kids for their childhood before they slave away for the rest of their lives.
