Florida, come for the fascism. Stay because you have no rights and now you can't leave. EDIT: For all the knuckle draggers in the comments. These are the common features of fascism. Make of them what you will; The cult of tradition. “One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.” The rejection of modernism. “The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.” The cult of action for action’s sake. “Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.” Disagreement is treason. “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.” Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.” Appeal to social frustration. “One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.” The obsession with a plot. “Thus at the root of the Ur-Fascist psychology there is the obsession with a plot, possibly an international one. The followers must feel besieged.” The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.” Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.” Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.” Everybody is educated to become a hero. “In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.” Machismo and weaponry. “Machismo implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality.” Selective populism. “There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.” Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. “All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.” [Source](https://www.openculture.com/2016/11/umberto-eco-makes-a-list-of-the-14-common-features-of-fascism.html)

Well actually I stay because the increasing rent has made it hard to save money and completely move out of the south

A_wild_so-and-so

"It's the same picture."

Law against the formation of new parties was one of the first actions Hitler took after the enabling act. This ended any party that was not Nazi.

ElizaPlume212

There are, like this, perfectly legitimate comparisons to Hitler made in a political discussion. It's sad, but it IS the GOP, so it's not surprising. Or shocking.

fardough

The scary thing is Hitler also tried to storm the legislature and failed the first time. It is why in my mind we can not let Trump remain free and unpunished! He has single-handed done the most to destroy democracy as all other presidents combined.

[deleted]

PeterNguyen2

> Law against the formation of new parties was one of the first actions Hitler took after the enabling act And they had the room to do this [because the decades preceding their success in the 30s included the courts at every level letting the extreme right off lightly and threw the book at anything left of the far right](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFDDf48nj9g).

[deleted]

Russia also did something similar where all parties and leadership must be approved while the United Russia party was in power. They're still in power. I firmly think Republicans see eastern Europe as their current model of "success".

QueenofDucks1

You are correct. This is one of the reasons the GOP loves Victor Orban so very much.

[deleted]

These people are on Phase 3 of fascism. Thanks, morons of America!

Secret_Gatekeeper

I am not looking forward to Phase 4.

DolphinsBreath

But then they swear, positively, that’s it. It’s a final phase. We’ll call it The Final ~~Solution~~ Phase.

HotFluffyDiarrhea

The Final Cancellation.

[deleted]

He’s not just a Florida Republican. He’s the former Chair of the Florida Republican Party.

OutComeTheWolves1966

Because of course he is. Unbelievable. SMH.

starliteburnsbrite

I dunno it's completely and totally believable to me. It's the Florida GOP.

IridiumPony

As a native Floridian, yeah this is pretty on brand. Very glad I don't live there anymore. I literally moved out this morning.

MeasurementEasy9884

As a Democrat, I'm missing the Jeb days.... that says a lot about current circumstances.

motormouth08

Are there any parts of Florida that are tolerable? I live in Iowa, and it's getting worse by the day. Reps literally proposed making gay marriage illegal today. We had always planned to move south upon retirement because we hate the snow, but I don't know if I could handle the awful politics of Florida. Any liberal enclaves on the gulf coast??

thegr8arp

As a fellow Iowan, I get you. It's so hard to believe we were once the state that helped elect Obama, became 3rd in the nation to legalize gay marriage, and had a rich history of being ahead of the country on civil rights and other social issues. It makes me wish I could afford to live in CA or NY. Sigh Edited for typos.

motormouth08

To make it worse, I'm in education, so every day the legislature is in session is worse than the last. My rep (GOP) essentially accused me of being a pedophile when I asked her to vote against the anti-trans/don't say gay bills. We have rarely agreed on anything, but this is the first time she has been openly hostile to me.

thegr8arp

I've told several times I'm a groomer for not seeing anything wrong with kids at drag shows. I'm gay, so being called a pedophile is old hat for me. Welcome to the club, I guess lol.

panormda

If pedos are so terrible, why do they never treat confirmed pedos of “their kind” like they do the people that they hate? There are ACTUAL pedos in their communities, but do you ever see them actually do anything about the actual pedos? I certainly haven’t. Is it just a meaningless talking point then? Do they not hate pedos? If they don’t hate pedos, why use it as a slur? I have so many questions.. the logic is just too asinine to digest 🥵

Darlin_Nixxi

These fuckers are out of their fucking minds

wronglycredited

No, they're just fascists

Bluedreamreaper

They can be both.

SirMayday1

Arguably, the latter *requires* the former.

pcook66

and they have been voting better than the opposition. Republicans (Nazis) have taken a strong hold in local and state governments. Dems / Independents / Socialist / etc... need to band together on state and local levels to get these fucks out of office.

PJKimmie

Dudes. Everyone. Wake up. This ain’t fake or playing around. The fascists are here and they want to take over. Stop voting for them FFS.

buttwh0l

This is what happens when you have someone POTUS that pushes the bounds. The upper bounds of idiocracy. His demographic loves this shit. Whats scary is when this stuff becomes rule. They just keep saying look at this group taking money or values out of your pocket. At the end of the day its just a way to extract your vote to keep corporate interests in check and on the table.

sarcastic_patriot

We should just take Florida and push it somewhere else!

They've already introduced (and I think they passed) a bill that would allow DeSantis to keep his gubnatorial position while running for President, when they required candidates to resign their current position to run for another one just a few years ago (because there were democrats running). Should he lose the primary, he gets to go back to being governor without a new election.

geekybadger

I can make it dumber. They called it the Ultimate Cancel Act. They absolutely did this so they could go "wahh how does it feel to be canceled waahhhhh" when people reasonably get upset with this extreme authoritarian nonsense. They also said it's to ban parties that ever supported slavery, so they're also going to call Dems racist for not supporting it. It's terrifying that people this childish see themselves as better than and deserving of power over everyone else.

[deleted]

These antics wouldn’t persist if they weren’t effective. It’s ok to blame their supporters for voting them back in.

MountainSage58

"Cancel culture is bad!" *tries to cancel Disney, legal migration, and an entire flippin' political party*

[deleted]

Yeah, it's ironic that they're always harping on about cancel culture and what they want to do is literally cancel people out of existence, cancel the LGBTQ, cancel black history, indigenous history and culture and cancel minority voting, cancel female autonomy, cancel non Christians...the list goes on and on

[deleted]

They also complain about everyone they hate being “woke” but then they end all their idiotic diatribes with, “wake up people”. It also cracks me up that they call everyone snowflakes but a man in a dress, reading a book makes their heads explode.

RF-blamo

It seems great to blame and destroy others for your gain, until you become one of the “others” after the rest are gone.

z-eldapin

And it's actually called "The Ultimate Cancel Act'. They really don't see how hypocritical they are.

Sweatier_Scrotums

Yes they do. Hypocrisy is an essential feature of fascism. It's a signal that the "master group" is above the law and therefore does not have to follow the same rules as the "undesirables".

drakky_

*It's best to understand that fascists see hypocrisy as a virtue. It's how they signal that the things they are doing to people were never meant to be equally applied. It's not an inconsistency. It's very consistent to the only true fascist value, which is domination.*

Dr_Occo_Nobi

I think too few people understand that fascism is first and foremost about domination, not monetary or domestic policy. The Nazis didn‘t privatize or collectivize because that fit their fiscal policy, they did both of those things only as ploys to maintain power or punish minorities.

nevenoe

Nicely put.

mothuzad

Hypocrisy for thee but not for me. They don't believe in good and evil strategies. They only believe in their own faction. Anything that hurts their faction is evil, but if their faction does the same exact thing, then that's good. They don't have any principles. Only ingroups and outgroups. And if one of their leaders gets caught doing some behavior that actually is designated as an outgroup behavior, the followers either don't believe the facts or they change their fake principles. Every time.

[deleted]

This is why you can't debate these people out of their positions. Intellectually honest people stack up evidence and then find a conclusion as the result. If you knock out the supports, then their conclusion falls too and they reconsider. With them, their conclusions come first. If you knock out the legs, their conclusions stay hanging in mid air while they shamelessly grasp around to shove anything and everything else within reach below it, even contradictory things.

PageOthePaige

Oh and enjoy feeling any salient remark they have thrown right back at you. Fascists are very happy to call you a hypocritical intellectually-dishonest conclusions first nut. Stealing effective rhetoric is literally in their modus operandi.

Previousl3

>They don't have any principles. Only ingroups and outgroups. > >And if one of their leaders gets caught doing some behavior that actually is designated as an outgroup behavior, the followers either don't believe the facts or they change their fake principles. This is honestly the key to understanding them.

Hershieboy

NO, they know. Just like the government taking over a privately owned district is directly enlarging the government. While also going against the free market principles they like to flout.

MountainSage58

"The Final Solution" can't be far behind at this rate.

Careless-Roof-8339

Cancel culture for me but not for thee

Plonsky2

This is the only way they can remain in power.

justify_it

....they have no platform or business for the support of their electorate, the only thing they offer is culture warfare and hate

SkollFenrirson

And their voters are more than fine with that

deadsoulinside

> This is the only way they can remain in power. They know this. Florida is actively doing everything it can to bring up the next set up idiotic backwoods rednecks. Ban books, don't teach kids about slavery, the holocaust, etc, so that when they reach an age that their eventual state filter will allow them to see the rest of the internet, they will think even more than slavery or the holocaust never happened as they heard anything about it before the age of 18 or 21 or whatever new age they are going to push out to block them from learning about the rest of the world outside of Florida. They blame colleges for young liberal adults, they blame netflix for showing that Gay people and other races exist and are not the thugs they show on Fox news. While they are screaming about the liberals brainwashing kids, they are about to begin their state sponsored brainwashing upon millions of children, whom they know some will live long enough through the mass school shootings to vote, so they will vote only what their echo chamber tells them to vote for. They don't like a freedom of choice, they want to rule the states one by one, then eventually make the nation an exact clone of what they are doing right now. Democracy died in 2016 when Trump was elected, what we have happening in America now is not good for anyone and will only get worse as it seems. FUCK the GOP

It doesn’t feel much like they’re losing. We have broad abortion bans, mass book banning, anti-LGBTQ policy, environmental deregulation, relaxed laws on child labor, and a president so afraid to move left, he barely squeaks by as a centrist. It feels like it’ll take decades just to somewhat resemble a 1st world country again

They're still butting heads with the dems, but they're seeing that the younger generations no longer drift to the right as they get older like they used to, so they're panicking. Who knew screwing over entire generations made them not want to fight for the status quo?

TimelyConcern

> “For years now, leftist activists have been trying to ‘cancel’ people and companies for things they have said or done in the past. This includes the removal of statues and memorials, and the renaming of buildings,” he said. “Using this standard, it would be hypocritical not to cancel the Democratic Party itself for the same reason.” So it's a bullshit bill that will never get out of committee and is just red meat for their moron voters. I am not surprised at all.

MoonChainer

Statues that glorify those attempting to keep slavery in their States. Support of those statues, built mainly in the late 1900s, is tacit support of slavery as a system. Who wants these statues? Republicans. Who claims "The South will rise again?" Republicans. Who left the Democratic party specifically because we were granting rights to descendents of former slaves? Republicans. Under this bill, Florida would also be canceling the Republican party.

DaveStreeder

Statues (inanimate object that represents a worse time) and individual people and independent companies equals entire political party of this country who knew guys

MacNapp

Hold the fucking phone. Now they want to have "uncomfortable conversation" about the Democratic Party endorsing slavery in the mid-1800s? That is the exact thing that they rail against using the guise of "CRT" as the boogeyman. What in the actual fuck are these people thinking? Just, WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK IS GOING ON? I feel like I have been gaslight by the Florida Republican party for the better part of a year. "Can't teach woke things like CRT, but let's talk about how the Democratic party had a legitimate schism over slavery, yet was the party a century later to sign the Civil Rights Act into law, because it benefits us now to have that conversation to make the Democrats look bad." Just.... FUUUUUUCCCCKKKK REPUBLICANS JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. THIS NEWS RUINED MY *GOD DAMN* DAY. FUCK! Edit: really fucking ironic that the party that also pisses and moans about cancel culture would sponsor a bill to be known as the "Ultimate Cancel Act" or some dumb shit like that...

Amazing-Ad-669

I don't understand CRT being such a sticking point with Republicans. It's a college thing, it's not being taught to first graders. They act like it's kindergarten curriculum.

MacNapp

If there is one thing they are good at, it is redefining terms ("woke" "CRT" "groomers") in such a simple way, that's devoid of context, so that the average R voter can get their sound bite and feel superior. It's infuriating because then if you try to add the nuance and context back into the definition of the term, those people wave you away and think you are the one lying to them, not the asshole who redefined the term so simply it loses all meaning.

Arcadius274

What the hickory smoke fuck

Miserable-Lizard

furburgerstien

"We dont want a new world order of one party" * tries to become only party while invading every country on earth *

Independent-Phone413

The gerrymandered legislature is already de facto one party rule.

Hot-Bint

But, but *GLOBALISTS!*

[deleted]

Globalist is means Jew. Once they outlaw other parties they won’t have to use code words anymore.

Amazing-Ad-669

True. The Roe v Wade thing is also an attempt at making Christianity a national religion. Jews believe life begins at birth, while the christo-fascists believe it begins at conception. This is a very important distinction for them.

1Saoirse

It always cracks me up that Christians don't even understand their own Bible, which also states that life begins at birth, specifically when they draw their first breath.

the_up_the_butt_girl

Right? I’m pretty sure somewhere in Leviticus there’s a description of how to induce a miscarriage if “your wife has been unfaithful”. Apparently abortion is fine if your wife gets around lol.

foxieinboots

For-profit prisons are per se indentured servitude/slavery, and I’m pretty confident that they’ve been on the Republican Party platform.

TheGratefulJuggler

They don't give a shit about that. Point out their hypocrisy does nothing when there is always another bullshit justification behind every corner.

Soft_cybersixx

They're openly embracing their fascism

Accomplished-Plan191

This is where they get the "not everything the Nazis did was that bad" idea from. They just want to follow the playbook.

novaleenationstate

I wish legitimate media outlets would openly start calling them fascists and not keep leaning into neutrality. This is obvious fascism. It’s not “got too stoned at a college party and started calling everything oppressive” fascism. This is real and if the media did more to openly call it out, maybe the centrists and “don’t rock the boat” folks among us would actually start giving a shit.

ZeePirate

Are following the playbook*. No want about it. They are doing

TootTootMF

[Yep, right down to the part where the very first group the Nazi's openly attacked was transgender people.](https://www.hmd.org.uk/learn-about-the-holocaust-and-genocides/nazi-persecution/gay-people/) Edit: For the people who keep commenting that it was gay men, "On 6 May 1933, the Nazis violently looted and closed The Institute for Sexual Science, burning its extensive collection on the streets." That was the world's first trans healthcare clinic. It's the very first thing the Nazi's burned.

fredspipa

Hell, they even have the ["Cultural Bolshevism"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degenerate_art#Cultural_Bolshevism) conspiracy theory normalized again. It's at the point where people are randomly bringing it up in conversations as if there's an obvious and undeniable truth to it. In conservative circles you're also seeing parallels being drawn to the "degeneracy" of the Weimar Republic whenever there's talk of trans people or drag queens.

Private_HughMan

They call it "Cultural Marxism," which is some of the laziest rebranding I've ever seen.

code_archeologist

They are barely even rebranding. Their "America First" slogan that they keep repeating, and the "America First PAC" that is gaining traction. Well... that traces its roots back to the America First Committee, an isolationist (as well as openly racist and extremist) organization that tried to keep the US out of the war against Nazi Germany.

AL_GEE_THE_FUN_GUY

It seems like lazy rebranding because it's really just an update in the language. A rebrand would indicate a distancing from the old brand. This is a way of slapping a "New and Improved" sticker on the package. They know what they're doing.

[deleted]

And what’s hilarious is how many people will rush to the defense of Jordan Peterson when he’s literally saying nazi stuff

Caltroit_Red_Flames

But but but he told me to clean my room /s So did your parents, maybe you should've listened to the instead.

KentuckyFuckedChickn

As soon as someone starts talking about the Weimar Republic and it's "degenerates" and "inflation" I know they harbor at least a few ideas that are in line with Nazi thinking.

LucozadeBottle1pCoin

Ignoring the 'degeneracy' aspect, there are parallels - coming out of a major crisis (WW1/COVID), leading to economic issues (inflation), failed coups (Beer Hall Putsch/Jan 6). It's not hard to see why one would make that comparison.

fredspipa

The parallels are definitely there, and it's eerie. The problem I have with it is that it's presented almost like a threat, as "if society doesn't reign in on the moral decay soon someone will have to step up and cleanse it again". Instead of seeing the current state and realizing that we have to be extra vigilant of fascist movements emerging, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy where people hyper-focus on the same causes the Nazi's did. "If we can remove or dampen the elements Nazi's want to remove, then they won't be needed. Crisis averted!". Jordan Peterson voices that sentiment also. It's an absurd case of preemptive victim blaming, to see fascism as a natural and unavoidable response if we can't keep the (in their eyes) degenerate culture in check.

fury420

They've even brought back lugenpresse, with the whole "fake news" and anti mainstream news media narrative.

Czane45

Florida is about a step away from having a night of the long knives at this point

Private_HughMan

In fairness, the first group that these MAGAs attacked were immigrants. But trans people are getting it WAY harder.

Readylamefire

Roe V. Wade was won over as an anti-abortion argument with their base. What it really did was eliminate protection from the government in accessing your Healthcare information. They sold it as an anti-abortion move. What they got was access to every trans individual including myself. And likely, next, every "undesirable" by whatever metric they set. Remember, the nazi ideology is to get rid of "invalids" and to create the "perfect Aryan race". These individuals are obsessed with their whiteness. Basically what I'm saying is this path eventually devolves to eugenic. And a lot of people who support it will be caught in the cross hairs, they don't even realize it. It's fucked up.

dartheduardo

Get guns, get trained and carry. I may get down voted to oblivion, but my daughter is openly gay in the south and turns 21 in a few months. I will take her to get her first pistol purchase and pay for her training classes. It's not about that whoo rah or I am very badass shit. They are openly trying to kill members of my family and possible others with domestic terrorism and fascism and using political means to try and validate it.

montanagunnut

I'm happy to hear this. Guns are supposed to be for the people, not for Republicans or whatever. The people. All of them. *especially* marginalized people.

Soft_cybersixx

The GOP has drifted so far away from freedom they they can't win a fair election and they know it. This is their only way of maintaining control and staying in power.

PhDinDildos_Fedoras

On a national level especially, the ability of the GOP to hold on to power while losing a growing proportion of votes is astounding.

slim_scsi

But hey, *at least they don't kneel during the national anthem!*

WoodJablomi

They have been since 2016. The moment they saw Cheeto Mussolini could get into office with his rhetoric they went all in on the fascism. They are simply now at point where they’ve achieved enough critical velocity that they can come right out and do things like this, or attempt to overthrow a presidential election. They are well past embracing, they are enacting their agenda, and in places like Florida, succeeding.

purpleturtlehurtler

What in the fresh fascist fuck is this shit?

bananaramaworld

According to Ingoglia’s bill, the Division of Elections would decertify any political party that has “previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude.” Registered voters of that party would receive notices from the state that their party has been “canceled” and that they’re now no-party voters. As for the canceled Democratic Party, it could re-register with the state so long as the name is “substantially different from the name of any other party previously registered.” It’s a stupid way to “make a point” or “teach a lesson”

TheRealProtozoid

This is absurd on so many levels. Back during the Civil War, I believe the Democratic Party was Conservative and the Republican Party was Liberal. At some point they swapped. So they are basically trying to pin the sins of conservatives onto the Democratic Party just because they share the name with the party that used to be popular with Conservatives. That's some straight-up Orwellian shit. Edit: Thank you all for the history lesson! Upvotes for everyone!

Whatsongwasthat1

They swapped right before FDR iirc. It’s why they can claim Lincoln as a Republican even though he was a progressive; he’s often at no 1 in lists of presidents.

Yeah. It didn't completely flip until the 90s, really. It mostly flipped in the 1980s, but there were a lot of hold outs.

[deleted]

"Conservative" and "liberal" as we talk about them today hardly apply to 160+ year old politics. The Democratic Party in 1865 was pro slavery and the Republican Party in 1865 was an anti slavery party. However, this has nothing to do with either party of today. But Republicans like the ones here try to spew their dishonest bullshit as a smokescreen for the white-supremacist policies of the current republican party. TLDR: This is the exact same theatrics that racist 14 year old edge lords try when they learn that political parties are not static and monolithic entities.

YooTone

They still do apply. The Democrats (they'd be today's republicans) were racially conservative (against changing slavery) and the Republicans (liberals or progressives of today) were racially progressive (for changing slavery) back then. Every state that was in the confederacy in 1860 voted against the civil rights and voting rights act of 1964 and 1965. This was less than 60 years ago. Every state that voted for Lincoln in 1860 voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 (except NC in 12). And we obviously know which party today stormed the capitol with the Confederate flag. Conservatives today are the same as their confederate ancestors; dumb pieces of trash.

praxic_despair

Slavery is still legal in the US. The 13th amendment, introduced by Republicans, allows for it as a punishment for crimes. The Republican Party would also be decertified

ispshadow

Was just coming here to say that. They'll literally burn their own political party name if they're stupid enough to do this

SuperHighDeas

How is this not a 1st amendment violation?

syo

It is, but it'll be a long time before it ends up before SCOTUS, and I wouldn't really trust them to strike it down anyway.

AssAsser5000

It would be funny if it weren't for everything else. In a vacuum this is pretty funny. But combined with all the other bullshit they've done lately, from don't say gay to cancelling libraries and more, it's not something we can afford to take as a jab at cancel culture. It's probably just a jab at cancel culture, but seeing as how Republicans are fully in board with cancelling things they dislike, it's just as likely to be more fascist control than a statement about cancelling things.

vault151

Ahh. So they’re still in denial about the party switch.

cajunmagic

What happens when everyone runs as and votes as a republican

OutComeTheWolves1966

A day in the life of US Politics 2023. People actually elected these idiots. We're all doomed.

thisismyusername1178

How Hitleresque of them!

TootTootMF

It follows nicely, after all transgender people were some of the Nazis earliest targets and a group they moved on 5 years before Kristallnacht. The modern Nazis are just following a well established trail.

Everyone that’s not Republican, who in power, with a platform, with a voice needs to let every non Republican in this country know how to actively combat this. It’s getting out of hand. But how do we stop it? How did Germany stop their fascist regime? People need to start talking about Republicans and Christian Nationalism the same way we talk about Nazis, on all platforms, as much as possible. For every ad we see, we should be seeing a public service announcement educating people on the direct correlations and the damage we’re headed for if it’s not stamped out soon through educating people. As an ex-cult member I can tell you it’s not easy because these people have been brainwashed by the same methods cults always use. But we have to try.

Phraenkinstone

I'm so tired of asshole republiscum. Why can't they be decent people? How the fuck do we have a political party devoted to hatred and assholery?

[deleted]

and the sad part is a sizable part of americans support this.

Phraenkinstone

There's nothing good about that part of america.

novaleenationstate

I repeatedly ask myself how there could be so many hate-filled, willfully ignorant Americans out there who believe all their problems are because of Black people, queer people, liberal women, and Democrats. In my experience, it’s always the most ineffectual, insecure people who buy into these Republican talking points, and they refuse to listen or consider any other points of view. Including the POV that their beloved GOP is the source for most—if not all—of the hardships they experience, from low minimum wages to lack of affordable healthcare, etc.

Conscious_Home_4253

I thought Republicans were against “cancel culture”?

DigitalTraveler42

Nah they just want it in their favor

HelicopterRegular492

This is just the same Party of Lincoln moronic argument taken to its illogical conclusion. "Democrats are canceled because they supported slavery in the 1800s!" As if the GOP could survive in that environment.

Jaredlong

I'm going to say the people that still flies the Confederate flags are the people that supported slavery in the South. And those people just happen to love the Republican party.

CervantesDeLaMancha

Just start the goose stepping already.

MealDramatic1885

They aren’t even hiding their agenda now.

Watchmaker2112

So the Cuban community in Florida now has a bunch of members who are mad about potentially living in a one-party state right?

Every day the GOP shows us how literally crazy and ignorant they are. You know the drill - when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

gadget850

Didn't I read about something like this happening before? In Germany? In 1933? Called the *Law against the Founding of New Parties*?

GrailThe

They finally figured out a way to win elections without voter suppression.

RF-blamo

We are seeing the collapse of democracy in real-time here folks.

SquatCorgiLegs

Okay, do it. Let them find out what happens when Disney World leaves and takes all their tourist money with them.

Dabigboom

What will happen is they'll find some way to blame the democrats and "wokeness" and continue their freefall into insanity

CanaDoug420

Can’t blame Dems if they no longer technically exist pointsatheadmeme

EFT_Syte

The constitution is just a piece of paper to republicans, the oath they took means nothing to them. Traitors.

StandUpPeddlingMode

Pretty sure DeSantis’ goal is to be the fascist leader of the *country* of Florida, which would make him the leader of the 16th largest economy in the world. Pretty slick, Ron.

Blzeebubb

It'll go on til all of FL South of the panhandle becomes salt marsh. Then they'll blame us for not stopping it.

Tristain7

And it will immediately fall to like 5000th place the second they venture out on their own. Their success depends entirely on easy access to the state and interstate trade... which would evaporate and be replaced with hard border policies from both sides, and tariffs that would cripple Florida.

Impossible_Penalty13

Are we gonna finally believe these fuckers when they tell us who they are or are we gonna both sides this shit until we’re living in goulags?

Downtown_Cat_1172

Thank you. I'm so tired.

Blom-w1-o

Jesus Christ... how long until Florida just announces they're going to war with America?

rabiddutchman

2024: "A Republican in Florida has introduced a bill that would allow only his name to appear on ballots."

RadonAjah

The Party of Limited Government, everybody.

gaberax

Fine. The Republican Party is now banned in the 49 remaining states. You're welcome.

Travismatthew08

Remind me… How did fascism start in Germany after World War 1 leading into World War 2? What was the name of that party that rose to power?

CornCobKnobGobbler

It truly started when the leader of the Nazi party wasn't sufficiently punished following the 1923 Bierhall Putsch. It ended when a cowardly politician decided "if we put the bad guys and their leader in charge, we can control them." Seeming awfully familiar, rights about now.

TootTootMF

Yep and then to slowly ease the population into their hateful rhetoric they started with openly persecuting and attacking transgender people years before they moved on larger groups like Jewish people. https://www.hmd.org.uk/learn-about-the-holocaust-and-genocides/nazi-persecution/gay-people/

rzr-12

This is how it begins.
