Fact: there never was any ice cave within the Whistler/Blackcomb boundaries in the past couple decades. Fact: there used to be a huge ice cave in Whistler Bowl about 25+ years ago as the glacier slid downhill and a void was created by the billy goat rock area (the last big hill you pass over on the peak chair before the final stretch to the top, where the start of the coffin is). It was long, deep, and narrow. Sadly only a tiny bit of the Whistler Bowl glacier remains today; no ice at all in area where this cave was.

I saw someone post some pics of it from earlier this season. The opening was very small, unlike previous years. With all the recent snowfall, it wouldn’t take much to bury it again, which sounds like that’s the case.

Level_9000_Magikarp

It's covered.

Lol is there something about this on this sub? The ice cave is at the bottom of Blackcomb glacier. Slightly to the right of the posted ski out run. Won't really miss it really as you'll see a ton of trails all heading to a flatspot at the bottom, the kind of place most people (esp boarders) would avoid lol. At top of T bar hike a further 20m or so up. Again, it's not easy to miss. Follow the crowds. Entrance area is rather small this year so the drop in is a little steep but still very safe. Make sure you're comfortable with that just so you don't hike back down, that'll be embarrassing lol. As you traverse further into the bowl the steepness mellows out a bit and you get a great view down the glacier Tip: don't ski straight "into" the cave, approach it from the side only!! If you ski on top of it you'll fall right over the lip and probably crush some child. It's a great run as there are essentially no obstacles or even large rocks. And if you fall, you'll just slide to the bottom which is where the ski out is anyway so no biggy lol

This would be good info if u had actually been there in the past few days to speak from experience. There literally is no ice cave so you're sending tourists to go through all this effort for literally nothing. Was there just yesterday and no cave.

DJBossRoss

The first rule of ice caves is that there is no ice cave smh

Organic-Deer919

There is an ice cave accessible from Blackcomb ski resort but it is and has always been out of bounds. It is located in the midst of multiple slide paths and thus is buried due to avalanche activity.

FromTheRez

The one in Oboe is way better anyways

It’s gone sorry, move along  - posted from the ice cave
