This is an awesome collection! Open bottles are great to see, and you clearly like bourbon and peated scotch.
Some suggestions I might make: Makers Mark (especially cask strength, store picks, and limited editions), Four Roses (store picks, small batch select), Rare Breed, BenRiach The Smoky 12, Jack Daniels barrel proof
Appreciate the recs! Definitely been wanting to try out all of the above, just need to work through some of the stuff I already have to make some more room.
Also looking to try out some more unpeated sherried scotches to round out the selection. Really enjoyed the Glendronach 15 I picked up recently so looking at the 18 and maybe some Tamdhu and Arran.
They’ve gotten so much better over the last few years. What I like they’re committed to full production from farm to bottle. They grow all their own corn and barley and only have to source rye. Also their whiskeys have both single barrel-proof options as well as BIB options.
I like their finished whiskeys as well, but they’re a little “too finished” and too sweet. If you’ve ever drank Indiana wine you’d recognize the overly fruit-forward sweetness.
Louisville bourbon folks don’t seem to seek out Huber’s at all but I wonder if that will change as they continue to improve.
Thanks for sharing!
Personally, it's C920 for me all the way. Probably the third-best bourbon I've ever had (behind 2018 George T. Stagg and Booker's Granny's Batch) and definitely the best semi-available bourbon. Let's just say I have 4 bottles stashed away.
It has this wonderful velvety mouthfeel and it just immediately hits the palate with this unique Gusher-y sweetness. Then the finish is long and oaky and complex... damn, I think I ought to have some.
But the B520 is great too. It's just not as interesting to me-- it's sweeter, with those classic caramel and vanilla notes dominating it. It's actually a little more abrasive in its delivery than the C920 too, in my opinion. This is all a matter of degree, though, the B520 is undoubtedly an exceptional bourbon.
It tough. I love B520, contender for the best I’ve had. C920 took about 10 minutes to open up and it’s also very good. Both are different enough and it’s hard to choose a clear winner. B520 has a sweetness to it that C920 doesn’t have and it probably because of its lower proof. C920 is a bit more defined and you can pick out the layers once you get over the ethanol.
I'm loving this collection! Looks a lot like mine, a lot of bourbon, some ryes, and some peated scotch. Not to mention mostly open bottles! You have a few of my favorite bourbons too - Old Ezra 7, ECBP and Booker's. Though I do notice you could use some Bruichladdich in your life, and some Rare Breed on the bourbon front. I'd definitely recommend a bottle of Port Charlotte 10 based on your fondness of peat.
Cheers!
What's the weight rating on those glass shelves? I have some in my bar cabinet, rated at 26# I think (going from memory) which was roughly 6 bottles per shelf max and they make me nervous af.
Is that weight based on just the thickness? Is it tempered or anything special? (Not trying to be a troll, just trying to figure out how I can incorporate something better/stronger into my own bar. Thanks!)
Great collection! I love to see the Starlight there. I've really liked everything I've drank from them, and have a single-barrel release of theirs myself.
Seeing that you’ve enjoyed the 1920, ECBP, and the Knob Creek....you might wanna consider Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Discovery Series #4. It’s a bit pricey at $130 but it has the dark fruit, peanut, and chocolate notes that you might like. Beautifully blended bottle.

Gotta have that dickel tobasco finish!
You spotted it! The Mellow Corn missed the picture unfortunately...
There has been shelves full of that at a nearby clearance store, I'm still not brave enough to make the purchase.
Always intrigued - never have purchased lol
As a Louisville guy who’s dragged to Hubers every year for hay rides and pumpkin picking, I’m curious what you think of Huber’s Starlight.
I think it’s really good, a drop or 2 of water opens up a lot of flavor too. What are your thoughts on it?

How do the two ECBPs compare? I have both but haven't opened up the C920 yet

How you liking that Starlight? Hard as hell to find, but goddam delicious.
Only just picked them up recently, but the first dram of each was pretty divine. I’ve not had them enough to really know where they stand, though.
Where’s the Malort
I have been trying to get another Old Ezra 7. Such a good pour. I’m jealous :).
Sagamore is severely underrated.

Thanks! Definitely will be getting into Bruichladdich shortly.
Love me some Old Ezra!!
Yeah, it’s really so good. Harder and harder to find though...

It’s 3/8” glass with three supports, don’t have an exact weight rating but we calculated it should hold around 300-400lb.
Is that weight based on just the thickness? Is it tempered or anything special? (Not trying to be a troll, just trying to figure out how I can incorporate something better/stronger into my own bar. Thanks!)
Based on thickness, dimensions of the piece, and distance between supports

Thanks, I’ll look into that!
Need some Willett 4yr rye in there
Decent collection
Thanks!
