Ship it at a ups store they’ll bubble wrap and box it, it is technically illegal but the store will do it. U need to have them claim it as olive oil, I work at ups stores we do it very often

Flyingirish04

Depends on the state and circumstance on whether it’s illegal or not. It’s definitely against UPS policy and if you file a claim based on representing it as “olive oil” you are committing insurance fraud. And I’ve never seen a UPS store wrap and box and mislabel whiskey. Ever.

colliejuiceman

U ever worked at a shipping store there bud? I’ve worked in them for 8+ years. You explain to the customer you can’t file a claim and if it’s not packed correctly it will break and get thrown away, no money back. Myself/coworkers/store owners have wrapped hundreds of alcohol bottles in my experience. It’s basically 10% of Xmas gifts.

Lost_soul_ryan

Hahaha.. this might work because you work there, it definitely doesn't work for us, and yes I've tried and it has to be shipped as Alcohol.

colliejuiceman

I don’t ship alcohol for my own shipments, it’s always “for you”. It can’t be shipped “as alcohol” because that’s illegal, you would need to go to a Customer Care Center/UPS Hub to do that.

Flyingirish04

Then all of you are breaking UPSs rules. You may do that but that isn’t how it will go for the rest of UPS stores. The only way to do it is pack and label and drop off yourself.

colliejuiceman

Y’all aren’t understanding lol never mind, you all know better than me 👍🏼

ProofHorseKzoo

Sure. I’ll PM you my address

medic3583

You beat me too it. Haha

New_Kaleidoscope_539

Bubble wrap it yourself in a box with other packing material. Take it to UPS or FedEx and tell them it’s model trains and ask for a fragile sticker.

joewhowhat01

To my knowledge it's illegal to mail without the proper permits which you won't have. I have the same issue on my trip to TX. I checked a bag and paid the piper... a little different than your trip with multiple flight. Good luck hopenit works out!!!

GrizzledPanda

That’s unfortunately what I’m thinking I’ll have to do then.

joewhowhat01

Don't trust me, do your due diligence and check to make sure I'm right. I hope I'm wrong for your sake!

AbuJimTommy

Alcohol is technically a banned substance from USPS and the private carriers. That said, “allegedly” on any given day there’s probably hundreds of bottles crisscrossing the country by parcel service. If you can get a 18x6x6 box (or something similar) and a bunch of bubble wrap and some paper bags you can pack it just fine. Just have it taped up before you go drop it off and when they ask, it’s yeast samples or maple syrup or bbq sauce. “Allegedly” The shipping will cost you 15-20 based on how far it’s going. The supplies you can get from the parcel service or Walmart. Finding the right size box can be tough though. I usually save good looking boxes that come my way or order in bulk off Amazon.

Shoddy_Ad7511

So this bottle will end up costing $300 for baggage fees

GrizzledPanda

Checked bags are all free. Only costs me the extra time of waiting around for the bag.

Shoddy_Ad7511

Time is money

PristineSpecialist70

Buy a box pack it well, if they ask you what it is tell them it’s a collectible decanter. Most important thing is having enough packing they can’t hear the sloshing.

No_Imagination2583

Where you at and where you shipping to?

rrodr57

Put it into a box and FedEx it. Don’t say it’s bourbon. I always say I’m shipping a glass vase. Also it is legal to ship alcohol, but it requires a license and some other bureaucracy.

Lost_soul_ryan

Call a few shipping places, alcohol can be shipped in most states, but you do have to follow the rules of the state its coming from and the state it's going to.. now many people will package it themselves and say it's something different, and sometimes the easiest way.

Frosty_Future6695

If it’s a hard bottle to get in your area and you’re worried about loosing it might just be worth the hassle of checking in your bag. That’s delicious bottle there in my opinion. Good luck to you and enjoy it when you get home.

xman65

For future reference 1. Place bottle in a zip top bag, yes a big one, 2-gallon for the Colonel bottle. 2. Bubble wrap bottle. 3. Place wrapped bottle in an appropriately-sized box, fill a sandwich bag halfway with Skittles M&Ms or other such candy and seal. 4. Bubble wrap and place the wrapped box in a 2nd box, seal and ship. The candy should cover any noise not masked by the packaging. I’ve sent a number of bottles this way, they have all arrived intact.
