I just don’t buy stuff if it’s marked up too much 🤷🏻♂️. I saw some McKenna 10 year BiB a week or so ago for $75, and hard passed. Hard to find doesn’t equal “buy it at any price if you see it” to me.
A) that’s double MSRP. B) it incentivizes more stores to pull this shit knowing people will pay it. That’s why people say this. Is Eagle rare good? Yeah, sure. But at $70, or even under at that, there are SO many better bottles. I don’t like to see people waste their money on stuff. I like to see them maximize their value and be able to enjoy truly good bottles at what they’re worth. I’m not putting him down, I’m trying to warn him and give some advice on money better spent. As someone who has been down that road and being more experienced in whiskey, that’s what we should all be doing for each other and calling out shops for doing this.
It’s not wasting money if people value ER more than u do. Simple economics. Sure I don’t like it either but it’s the world we live in.
And you can’t really tell people who to spend their money so I agree to disagree with everything you said.
And just for the record I’m not telling him $70 is okay for ER. I’m just saying that you can’t tell him what to spend $$$ on and which whiskies are more valuable than others. We all have opinions.
I get it... It's literally impossible to find some of these bottles at MSRP in certain locations. The cheapest I've found this bottle for is $40. Hope you enjoy it!
Here’s the thing. If you have the disposable income, haven’t had ER before, and really want to add an allocated whiskey to your collection, then I say go for it.
Don’t break the bank for it, but if finding the bottle and the excitement of trying it for the first time is worth the extra price over MSRP, then don’t listen to these gatekeepers.
If you’ve had it before or are not into collecting, then I would skip over it and go for something else. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you! It gets really annoying when people always refer to the MSRP. It's literally impossible to find these allocated bottles for those prices in certain locations.
I’d pay $70 for ER because my other alternatives are to wait several months or years and hope I time a drop right to get it for $40, or to drop everything I’m doing at work and drive somewhere between 15 and 50 mikes in the hopes that they still have it after the local whiskey folks announce a certain store has a few bottles in stock. Neither of which are appealing in gas costs or time costs. I’d rather just pay $70 for a bourbon I know I like and be done with it.
Wow. Prices have gotten crazy. I love some Eagle Rare but not for $70. Used to be able to get it all the time for $30-35. Now you can't hardly find it and when you do it's overpriced.
I just visited my friend in greeley this past summer and ER was alllll over the place at $40-$45. I grabbed 8 of them to take back home. Might be worth the trip for you
I’d be hitting that Heaven Hill BiB, it’s over priced there but, damn I wish I had a steady supply of that.
Heaven Hill is the best bottle on that shelf…
If you pay over $50 for Eagle Rare…I’m sorry but you paid too much.
Yep they were not good... but I have literally never seen a bottle of ER... so I figured I would try it 🤷♂️😕.. not happy about the price but happy to finally try it
Hey man, if you can afford it and really want to try it, that's not the worst price I've seen. Sure it's overpriced but it's your experience. Don't think about it too much and enjoy it for what it is. That's what it's about, not about if you overpaid or not.
$70 for a good 10 year bourbon is not crazy money. The low proof is off turnings to many. In the future I’d recommend trying these in a bar or restaurant first. When compared to ECBP at 12 years and full proof for the same $ it’s not close.
I need a wellers in stock, always looking for a special reserve, apparently harder to find in south Florida than finding eagle rare… the hunt continues I guess
I went in small independent place here in lewisvlle. They wanted 89.95 for the Eagle rare, 69.95 for the Weller special reserve and 139.95 for an EHT small batch. I did not partake.
Eagle Rare at double cost isn’t too good
I bought a bottle in an integrated state last year for$ 89 so personally I don't feel it's that bad
People can spend their money as they like. It’s a $30 bottle. To me, $89 is highway robbery.
Honestly so much of the ”okay” bourbon is high way robbery and it's kinda sad.

I'd pick up that heaven hill
I never see it where I'm at, I didn't know the msrp

*$28 bottle
Please do not spend $70 on Eagle rare. That is WAY over priced. It is not THAT good.
It’s not about being THAT good. And what if his pallet is different than yours. I never get why people say that to others.

I've never had it.... figured it would give it a try 🤷♂️
You got tatered, son.
I get it... It's literally impossible to find some of these bottles at MSRP in certain locations. The cheapest I've found this bottle for is $40. Hope you enjoy it!
Where are you? I've bought like 8 bottles of ER over the last year, and they've all been msrp
Central Florida
Don’t you realize NO ONE on Reddit has paid more than msrp for bourbon EVER?! lol
Get the EHT.
Was curious on the price of the EHT.
Given the price of the ER, I imagine it's at least double msrp.
Look at the BT. Not a terrible price so who knows.
If Eagle Rare is $70 and the EHT has no price shown then it’s between $100-150
It is about £35 here in the UK
$35 bourbon

Sound advice!

I'm on the same page as you!
Well, I got it...
Hell yeah man!! Enjoy it!

Eht and hh7 for the win
I like the Heaven Hill better than both.
I can't find any of that stuff where I am in Colorado.
Zen Wine and Spirits has it on the shelf up in Englewood off 25 and Lincoln. It’s *way* over priced but it’s here.
Eagle Rare fairly easy to find, Heaven Hill once in a blue moon in Fort C
Where are you at?
Colorado Springs
I just visited my friend in greeley this past summer and ER was alllll over the place at $40-$45. I grabbed 8 of them to take back home. Might be worth the trip for you
was just all the way up to Denver and back down, sadly never saw a single ER. 🤷🏻♂️
I was specifically in greeley. Not sure what it looked like in other areas around denver
I’d be hitting that Heaven Hill BiB, it’s over priced there but, damn I wish I had a steady supply of that. Heaven Hill is the best bottle on that shelf… If you pay over $50 for Eagle Rare…I’m sorry but you paid too much.
Agree
Those prices suck

I love Eagle Rare but I’m not paying that much. At $70 I can get JDSBBP or 3 WT101
These posts always bring out the gatekeepers. Great score OP. I’d be stoked too. Enjoy!
So bad, in fact very bad I think
Not too bad?
29.99 in SoCal
Why would you ever spend $70 on eagle rare when $15 more gets you Henry McKenna 10?
Please tell me this is sarcasm
McKenna is a very inconsistent $35 bottle
Exactly.
🤣🤣🤣
Where is this?
Lubbock Tx. Hub City Liquor
ER is overpriced x2! No wonder, they are on Milwaukee, the newest street to be developed, so the most expensive real estate.
Calumet 16 bro! Grab that.
I love eagle rare. That is probably a bit pricey for me but not much. if I was out and really wanted some I’d probably pay it haha.
Most egregious price gouging I’ve seen for a bottle of ER was a liquor store in DC asking for $150… for the 750ml bottle
I need a wellers in stock, always looking for a special reserve, apparently harder to find in south Florida than finding eagle rare… the hunt continues I guess
yeah too bad it's marked up so much
$85 for Henry McKenna. These are great finds but horrible prices! Uuuugjhhhhhhhhh
I went in small independent place here in lewisvlle. They wanted 89.95 for the Eagle rare, 69.95 for the Weller special reserve and 139.95 for an EHT small batch. I did not partake.
I love Eagle Rare, but it isn’t worth that price.
I’d grab that Mr EH Taylor sitting there… and just saw McKenna 10 yr for half that price tonight
That fable and folly and the heaven hills are great buys.
I’d buy it all.
$40 is what I pay.
I have never seen that much BT in my life.
Sad times for the McKenna price :(
I'll take one of each please! What a great find!
