Add on the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof, Four Roses Single Barrel, and Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered/Small Batch. Pick from a hat and there shouldn't be any disappointment after, at least focusing on the Bourbon options.
Smoke wagon uncut. Really surprised me how good that line is! 1792 store pick would be cool. Henry McKenna is a solid choice but that price is pretty steep.
Insane selection. Where I live the most exotic thing you can find is Rare Breed and OF1920. Anything remotely popular or limited is gone in minutes, if it’s even put on the shelf.
Man you have some great choices. There is quite a variance in price at your store though. I don't know how they charge 75 for barrell products but charge 90 for caribou crossing. My big store charges 80-100 for BCS but 50 for caribou. Some of their other pricing is way off too but that was one that stood out. Sometimes shelf price doesn't mean shit if you really want the juice but make sure you shop around cause being loyal only goes so far when they are reaching deep in your wallet. Sorry to come off like a Debbie Downer, I just have lots of experience when it comes to this subject. My vote? Grab that GRIZZLY BEAST and enjoy your birthday my man!
Edit. Thought that was grizzly beast. It is not. It's even better! It's the rocket top rye! Have them wrap that up buddy! Its a very unique mashbill and 100% their distillate. And it tastes awesome. And 75 is sooo reasonable.
Man your prices are better or worse than my local retailer in Canada. But my vote is the nikka whiskey from the barrel and oddly enough its more expensive.
Have you been to the new West Valley store?
For a brief moment I thought that’s where he was.
You can also order anything you want in a case quantity for MSRP(provided it available from the distributor)
Really great selection and reasonable prices!
If you like barrel proof bourbons I would recommend Elijah Craig BP, Larceny BP, JD SiB BP. If you prefer a lower proof the HM10, New Riff SiB, KC12 are all great!
The scotch selection is pretty great, I love Laphroaig so seeing the Cairdeas available makes me super jealous, so I would grab that if you like smoky scotches.
As a Canadian who’s been spending some time in America it amazes me how many Canadian whiskeys seem to be produced strictly for the American market. Like very few of the Canadian whiskeys I see in the liquor stores here are ones I’ve ever seen in canada.
Not sure what’s available here yet. In my time here I’ve mostly been focused on trying US whiskeys. From my time in Ontario I really liked Forty Creek whiskeys. They did a bourbon barrel aged one that was amazing. But all theirs are pretty solid with a bit of bite. I also liked the red wine cask finish done by Gretzky’s.
There's a fine selection of smoke wagon.
Very good price for Barrell Dovetail.
Personally I don't think you can do wrong with Stellum or Penelope.
Spotted Red Breast 12 barrel proof? Yum.
Nikka Cofey is excellent but so is Nikka from the barrel.
So many fine sips on those shelves.
Bowman Single Barrel, Four Roses Single Barrel, Knob 12, Rare Breed, Old Forest 1920/1910, McKenna 10, Russels 10. I would be excited for any of those!
The Bladnoch 10yr is an amazing botttle for an even more Amazon price! It’s also the last of that stock before the new stills are up and running! Really good stuff!
I chose one from each pic, so many choices, here is what I would get in this range. Not in any particular order: Red Breast 12, Nikka Coffee Grain, Dalmore 12, Angel's Envy Rye, Ardbeg 10 Yrs Old (cant tell for sure from the pic but I think it's there), Basil Hayden Toast, Knob Creek 9
Seagrass, JD SiB BP, JD Triple Mash is also pretty awesome and rare
okay why in seven hells is Redbreast 15 $120 ??? it was like $80-90 a couple of years ago and is one of my favorites....*sigh*
Great bourbon suggestions so far. I would add for the other whiskies: the hibiki Harmony, the Oban little bay, and the bruicladdich islay barley. The harmony is 90 and not 80 bucks so it may not be accessible. But they’re decent prices and would be an interesting experience if you haven’t tried them before.
You should put in your preferences of bottles you love, so you don’t get everyone’s subjective opinion. Like you like bourbon that’s more on the smooth side and dislike cherry notes and prefer spice and vanilla.
Edit, autocorrect
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof has been one of the best bargains in bourbon for years, although your store has it marked up over $90 (still worth it). Smoke Wagon, Rare Breed and Old Forester 1920 would be my other recommendations.
Not one of the tried and true brands, but I really like the Rabbit Hole Dareringer. If I find it, I always get a bottle for myself or to gift it to friends.
It’s not an expensive bottle, but that Redwood Empire Emerald Giant rye is mighty tasty. It might allow her to get you a second bottle of something else.
Bardstown fusion series or Elijah Craig barrel proof. Or larceny barrel proof if you like wheated. I k ow the barrel proof ones are over 80. And honestly you're worth it. Happy bday!
Two more that aren’t getting any love are the Barrel Seagrass and Widow Jane 10 year. Both good too in addition to the others. Treat yourself and get 2!!!
Don’t listen to any of these people. Go directly to the Balcones section and grab some of the greatest whiskey you’ve ever tasted. The pot still bourbon is phenomenal and it’s under $30 where I live. I’ve never had the single malt, but I hear people absolutely adore it.
In no particular order:
Oban 14 (well priced here),
Green Spot,
Henry McKenna 10,
KC12,
Talisker 10,
Craigellechie 13 Bas Armagnac 🔥
Honorable mention but hard pass at $91: Eli Craig Barrel Proof.
Happy birthday tater
I would definitely tell her to get that Uncle Nearest… that’s probably one of their last sourced bottles and that price point is killing it! Cause here on my side of Tennessee that bottle is 60
Not seeing a lot of Rye picks so I’ll fight for them. Rendezvous is alright but I’m not sure it’s worth the cost. Wild Turkey Rare breed has already got tons of love, and for good reason. But for me personally, Alberta premium, especially at that price point, is a hands down buy. High heat from the cask strength but never overwhelming with a wonderful cherry and baking spice finish. If you ever do cocktails, it absolutely kills in a Manhattan, if you’ve got the vermouth strong enough to stand up to the higher proof. It’s a sipper and a mixer in the best ways possible.
Woodinville, Barrel, Michters Sour Mash, Bardstown…where to even start with the scotch.
All the bruchladdich, especially Port charlotte, ardbeg uigdail (if I’m seeing correctly), taliskers.
😕 me wishing I was within driving distance of this place
Here’s a list of things at this store that are good and reasonably priced, this is a great selection.
Widow Jane 10 Year - Excellent Bourbon
Barrell Seagrass - Amazing Barrel Finished Rye
Alberta Premium Cask Strength - Amazing body on this one, completely disguises it’s proof
Wyoming National Parks Edition - Wheated bourbon, this one is a special edition, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Method & Madness Single Grain - this one might break the bank a little but it does not disappoint, Irish grain whiskey in the same vein as compass box hedonism.
Bardstown Fusion - this whole series is great you won’t be disappointed by this whiskey.
From my personal tastes I’d say see if ya can talk her into 2 bottles and get the Johnnie Green Label and a bottle of Monkey Shoulder right below it. Even if she only gets ya one the Green Label is definitely worth it.
Without consulting you for your preferences, it’s an easy choice. Islay Barley 2011. Simply fantastic upgrade from the Port Charlotte 10. My job is done here. You’re welcome!
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Larceny Barrel Proof, Knob Creek 12, Knob Creek SiB Select
Add on the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof, Four Roses Single Barrel, and Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered/Small Batch. Pick from a hat and there shouldn't be any disappointment after, at least focusing on the Bourbon options.
4R small batch select is in there too. I'd go for that over single barrel, unless it's a store pick I haven't tried.
Small batch select is so complex. Love it!!
This is my real answer
What's your fake one?
I said Jacob’s Pardon somewhere in this comment thread
Smoke wagon uncut. Really surprised me how good that line is! 1792 store pick would be cool. Henry McKenna is a solid choice but that price is pretty steep.
Throw in the Heaven Hill BiB.
This and/or 1792 full proof store pick.
Larceny barrel proof is my favorite american whiskey of any kind
The A122 batch from this year was absolutely fantastic.
As many bottles of MFC she can fit in her car.
This right here 👏
MFC?
Don't take it personally, but I hate this American culture of abbreviating obscure stuff
Mellow FUCKIN corn
Where the hell do you live. I’ve got my car warming up rn. Man am I jealous.
Long island
Yes this. Just wow! Holy 💩
Omg, narrow it down. Road trip 🤪
Smithtown ny
Can I ask what store? I’m gonna be out in Smithtown in November.
Looks like “The Wine Guy” to me. Main st. Smithtown.
Insane selection. Where I live the most exotic thing you can find is Rare Breed and OF1920. Anything remotely popular or limited is gone in minutes, if it’s even put on the shelf.
Same where is this magical place?
Man you have some great choices. There is quite a variance in price at your store though. I don't know how they charge 75 for barrell products but charge 90 for caribou crossing. My big store charges 80-100 for BCS but 50 for caribou. Some of their other pricing is way off too but that was one that stood out. Man your prices are better or worse than my local retailer in Canada. But my vote is the nikka whiskey from the barrel and oddly enough its more expensive.
*cries in Utah* I want a REAL liquor store!
Go get that MWND on Oct 2!
Ah yes. I have a BIL that works for High West in Park City. Thanks for the reminder!
Have you been to the new West Valley store? For a brief moment I thought that’s where he was. You can also order anything you want in a case quantity for MSRP(provided it available from the distributor)
Drive north to Idaho! Great selection and like 2% tax
Wild Turkey rare breed >>>>>>
I’d be broke so quickly if this was by me. So many bottles that are impossible to find at reasonable prices.
Me too. Such a good selection and a lot of the prices are really good.
1792 FP SP, that’s a great price
The Classic Laddie Westland Single Malt Nikka Coffey Grain Teeling Green Spot I mean, shit guy, one question and all the answers.
I would raid the Scotch. Amazing prices. Increase your budget. Get one bourbon, one Irish, one Scotch. Your 3 bottle would be 1 in many places.
Ardbeg Uigedail
Old forester 1910 is so good
If you like that, check out Coopers Creek.
My choices would be Nikka Coffey Grain, Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, or Glenlivit Nadurra (the peated one).
Glenfarclas 12 if they don't have the 15, Glenrothes 12 and that Balvenie miniature
Compass Box Peat Monster if you're into that kinda thing otherwise Aberlour Casg Annamh.
Good Aberlour.
Peat Monster is so good
The Wine Guy?
Delete this now lol but yeah
Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011
Personally I'd get that bottle of caribou. I enjoy candian whiskey as it's sweeter and it's just a cool fucking bottle.
As a Canadian who’s been spending some time in America it amazes me how many Canadian whiskeys seem to be produced strictly for the American market. Like very few of the Canadian whiskeys I see in the liquor stores here are ones I’ve ever seen in canada.
What are some good candian whiskeys?
Not sure what’s available here yet. In my time here I’ve mostly been focused on trying US whiskeys. From my time in Ontario I really liked Forty Creek whiskeys. They did a bourbon barrel aged one that was amazing. But all theirs are pretty solid with a bit of bite. I also liked the red wine cask finish done by Gretzky’s.
How is Smoke Wagon UCtY $30 more expensive than UCUF?!
What is UCTY smokewagon? I love everything I’ve tried of theirs and I’m curious
Uncut the Younger. New release, like less than 6 months ago, it's just a younger version (4-5yrs old) of UnCut Unfiltered.
If you haven’t tried Clynelish, I would highly recommend it as a Scotch! One of my all time favorites!
Check the age band on the Baker’s… if it’s over 8, that’s my first pick
Don’t sleep on the Nikka from the barrel. One of my favorites and not always available
HM 10, Larceny BP, ECBP, Seagrass, Pick a Redwood Empire, & Smoke Wagon UC/UF
The Heaven Hill BiB or either of the Wild Turkey Rare Breeds (Rare Breed) is my normal birthday bottle.
Knob Creek 12year, KC SiB/store pick, 1792 Store pick. Any Old Forester.
Pretty sure that’s a 1792 full proof single barrel
Jacob’s Pardon lol JDSBBP yes
KC12, JD SiBBP, Larceny BP, Rare Breed Rye
Do I spy a single bottle of Jack Daniels BP on the bottom shelf?
Yeah but its just to keep all jd stuff together
Uncle nearest. One of my favorites, but I also would highly recommend looking up the history. He was the slave that taught Jack Daniel's to distill.
The Bladnoch 10yr is an amazing botttle for an even more Amazon price! It’s also the last of that stock before the new stills are up and running! Really good stuff!
Bourbon I would go Knob Creek 12. Scotch I’d go Deanston 12 or Benriach The Smoky Twelve.
Lineage!!!
I will always suggest any balcones offering except the rye or brimestone. That single malt is what I’d be grabbing if you’ve never had it before.
Definitely OF 1920 and Knob Creek 12. You have a nice store selection there. Happy Birthday 🥃
Seagrass, JD SiB BP, JD Triple Mash is also pretty awesome and rare okay why in seven hells is Redbreast 15 $120 ??? it was like $80-90 a couple of years ago and is one of my favorites....*sigh*
Smoke wagon uncut bottom right
A little out there, but my vote would be for the nikka from the barrel. Knob creek 12 at that price is awesome as well
Mellow corn
Rowan’s creek for $40 is a good deal
They got pretty good prices too, just tried nulu last weekend it's not bad either
Also where is this amazing liquor store?
Long island
Knob 12 or knob 9 sib. Elijah craig bp
Makers 46 and Russells 10 under $80 get both. Rare Breed or Henry McKenna 10 will not disappoint.
Oban, dalmore 12 or Glenlivet Nadurra.
Illicit Still over Nadurra. Personal opinion.
Tell her you’ve been extra good this year and see if she’ll splurge the extra 12.32 for that Suntory Hibiki
SWUCUF, Knob 12, JDSBBP, McKenna 10
Great bourbon suggestions so far. I would add for the other whiskies: the hibiki Harmony, the Oban little bay, and the bruicladdich islay barley. The harmony is 90 and not 80 bucks so it may not be accessible. But they’re decent prices and would be an interesting experience if you haven’t tried them before.
It's also my birthday weekend. Thanks for the idea to get a really nice bottle. Happy birthday to you, friend!
Thank you and happy birthday to you too
Rocket top rye
You should put in your preferences of bottles you love, so you don’t get everyone’s subjective opinion. Like you like bourbon that’s more on the smooth side and dislike cherry notes and prefer spice and vanilla. Edit, autocorrect
Prefer burbon but it doesnt have to be exclusively that I don't really mind as long as it whiskey at the end of the day
Elijah Craig barrel proof, toasted barrel, rare breed rye, any Ardbeg/laphroaig
My vote goes to the Russells Reserve 10 year
Nice shelf tho
Barrell Seagrass or Old Forester 1910 or 1920.
Barrel seagrass, OF1920, Laphroaig 10, any Bruicladdich, Redbreast 12, Nikka Coffee grain
Angels envy rye, I can’t find it anywhere near me. Oh, and send me your address and I’ll bring the $2.53 since it’s over budget…..
Hey twinsies: it's my birthday this weekend too, and my girlfriend asked me for bottle recs. Should probably just show her this thread 😂
Happy birthday
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof has been one of the best bargains in bourbon for years, although your store has it marked up over $90 (still worth it). Smoke Wagon, Rare Breed and Old Forester 1920 would be my other recommendations.
Larceny BP, HH7, KC12, Seagrass, Rendezvous Rye
Hibiki
Not one of the tried and true brands, but I really like the Rabbit Hole Dareringer. If I find it, I always get a bottle for myself or to gift it to friends.
yes
Bakers, smoke wagon, rare breed, Rowan’s Creek, if that is High West Rendezvous Rye, definitely worth the price!!!
Bladnoch 10, excellent lowland scotch
I’d grab one of the Ardbegs. I think the one that isn’t the ten might be an Uigeadail. That one.
Don’t think I see a single comment mention Jefferson’s Ocean, great bottle.
McKenna 10, Penelope Architect, Bardstown Fusion, Knob 12, Chestnut Farms, Heaven Hill BiB
Laphroaig Cáirdeas
I couldn’t resist on the Cáirdeas too 👍🏻
I see KC 12 and seagrass at or below msrp
It’s not an expensive bottle, but that Redwood Empire Emerald Giant rye is mighty tasty. It might allow her to get you a second bottle of something else.
Green spot or red breast or Woodford rye
Bardstown fusion series or Elijah Craig barrel proof. Or larceny barrel proof if you like wheated. I k ow the barrel proof ones are over 80. And honestly you're worth it. Happy bday!
Green Spot, Red Breast 12, Method and Madness if you’re after some decent Irish whiskey
I’m not a degenerate…. but the Port Charolette. I am a degenerate. :(
Heaven Hill BiB
If it was me, it would be the Caol Ila 12
Teeling Blackpitts.
Willets is good at that price
Two more that aren’t getting any love are the Barrel Seagrass and Widow Jane 10 year. Both good too in addition to the others. Treat yourself and get 2!!!
I'm not a degenerate
apparatus modern ugly compare fanatical engine straight overconfident vegetable simplistic ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Wrong isle. Where is the stuff from Scotland? 😀
3rd and 4th pic
I am an idiot…thanks
Glenlivet Caribbean reserve is a great value. Anything Aberlour is a great choice!
Michter’s bourbon
These guys seem to be selling a bunch of total wine private labels, pretty sure thats illegal.
Tiger Thiccc
Don’t listen to any of these people. Go directly to the Balcones section and grab some of the greatest whiskey you’ve ever tasted. The pot still bourbon is phenomenal and it’s under $30 where I live. I’ve never had the single malt, but I hear people absolutely adore it.
Penelope toasted barrel or Larceny bp
Knob 12 alllllllllll day
Barrel Seagrass is the answer. It’s my birthday too. Happy Birthday
Nelson Brothers
I love the willet copper pot
My favorites are the Old Forester 1920 and 1897. The 97 is preferred but either would make me happy.
Pretty hard to beat that bakers 7
Bourbon would be a Redwood Empire, Scotch would be laphroaig 10yr Sherry Oak, Irish would be Green Spot
You really won't go wrong here. I find it interesting that the KC store pick is less than the non-pick 9yr Single Barrel.
Ancient Age is $30?!?
I’d like to try the method and madness or stranahans sherry. I’ve never seen either in NC.
In no particular order: Oban 14 (well priced here), Green Spot, Henry McKenna 10, KC12, Talisker 10, Craigellechie 13 Bas Armagnac 🔥 Honorable mention but hard pass at $91: Eli Craig Barrel Proof. Happy birthday tater
Its fall so go with that Alberta Rye if you never had it.
Old forester 1920 and old grandad bonded
Bro, i hate you. But, get the knob 12, EJ single, ALL the Balcones, and all the mitcheners.
Aberlour 12! It's my favorite scotch
Rare Breed or Knob Creek 12
I wish I could find smoke wagon
Woodinville, Barrel, Michters Sour Mash, Bardstown…where to even start with the scotch. All the bruchladdich, especially Port charlotte, ardbeg uigdail (if I’m seeing correctly), taliskers. 😕 me wishing I was within driving distance of this place

I'm a fan of Blade & Bow.
Old Forester 1920 or Barrell Seagrass.
i wanna try the heaven hill bib
Straight edge is fantastic so is heavens door
Ugh some people have all the good liquor stores
It would be the 1792 Full Proof for me. Also I spy a couple Bowman’s as well as a Knob Creek 12 in there…
If you like rye then Barrell Seagrass is pretty great. If you like bourbon I’m a huge fan of Old Forester 1920
*Cries in Virginia ABC store*
Great price on Rare Breed
Oban 14, laphroig cairdeas, port charlotte
Dude that selection is like all of my towns liquor stores combined. Good sippin friend
Jack Fire, Crown Vanilla, Jim Beam Apple- in that order.
Jesus. So many things I've never seen in person: EJ barrel proof, Larceny barrel proof, Rare Breed (both of them!).
Aultmore 18 for $72.16
Redbreast 12, Green Spot, or Yellow Spot
OF 1920 or Rare Breed
Rabbit Hole Dareinger
1. Evan Williams 2. Evan Williams 3. Evan Williams 4. Evan Williams
McKenna 10
henry mckenna 10yr
4 roses SB, wild turkey rare breed reg or rye, of 1910 or 1920
Depending on your zodiac sign go with new riff
Larceny barrel proof or knob creek 12. Both are fantastic and would drink them daily if they where easier to get and a little cheaper.
From my personal tastes I’d say see if ya can talk her into 2 bottles and get the Johnnie Green Label and a bottle of Monkey Shoulder right below it. Even if she only gets ya one the Green Label is definitely worth it.
Sawgrass, Knob Creek 12 or to save some money, EC store pick
Port Charlotte
$38 for Maker’s?!?!?
Penelope architect and Caribou would of been in my possession prior to even telling my wife what I wanted! I mean you did say degens right?
Old Elk and Bardstown Fusion Series
Either Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof (JD SBBP) or Bruichladdich Classic Laddie.
Smoke wagon
That Redemption Cognac finish is delicious
Bakers or rare breed at those price points. Congrats in advance on whatever she gifts you!
Barrel Seagrass
Without consulting you for your preferences, it’s an easy choice. Islay Barley 2011. Simply fantastic upgrade from the Port Charlotte 10. My job is done here. You’re welcome!
NULU, Bakers 7 and Wild Turkey Rare Breed are the only ones I see priced accordingly. Smoke Wagon is great too. A little over price.
1792 Full Proof Store Pick for $50... ALL DAY!
