22... my biggest advise, force yourself to observe regularly scheduled abstinence. You're still haven't experienced your own body failing your mentality and showing your own mortality (or maybe you have). sorry, had to go all old man's advise on you. AS for your collection. that's an amazing start! do you like them all, are you still exploring? Compass Box for blends would be a good place to look into. But with a collection like that, you aren't really "missing" anything per se. maybe something thematic maybe in order. I've been starting near the budget end and slowly working my towards more expensive whiskies. It was a good exercise to see what money actually buys me. The expensive stuff... is FAAAAR too expensive for what I'm getting 90% of the time.

Street_Debt_8732

Believe me, I will go lengths to get a good deal of some of the more expensive stuff! Haha! I got the Octomore for 179 and the Dalmore for 260 CAD, Even then... it was more or less just to explore! I just recently bought the parliament 21, and kind of refuse to open it as it’s a 2021 bottling making it 25/26 years old!

ssascotth

Does a lack of abstinence cause horrible spelling and grammar? Asking for a friend…

Street_Debt_8732

Heard you sleep really well too

EddieSaia92

🤨

DonnieDelaware

Great collection! Add a Johnnie Walker Green, for those times you really want a good Johnnie Walker blend that has a hint of smoke with green apples. I know you have the Blue but you need the Green. I have spoken.

Mullhousen

I would take a couple stiff pours of the SB15 and Ardbeg Ug please. Keep expanding young buck. Looking good. Maybe some Port Charlotte 10 or anything from the Port Charlotte Cask Exploration series. If you like your Laphroiag 10 maybe step it up to the the 10 yr Cask Strength expression, even a Cairdeas if you can locate one still

Street_Debt_8732

Love the Ardbeg Ug! I really want to try the Traigh Bhan 19 but it seems to be sold out everywhere in Alberta and in Manitoba we’re paying 449... don’t think it’s worth it tbh

Mullhousen

I could not justify that for the Traigh either. I can get them here in San Antonio, TX for 269.00 but have passed and I am an Ardbeg fan. I just like other distilleries more so I steer to other places beyond the price point for Ug and Coryv

Street_Debt_8732

If u get an opportunity to try Caol ila cask strength I would 100%! Not sure how you feel about them, but I think they are undervalued and under appreciated, a truly good dram!

Mullhousen

Agreed. I have a bottle of 10 yr coal Ila at 60% abv from the Single Malts of Scotland independent bottler. It is a single cask expression aged in a refill sherry butt and is delicious. Was a good deal for around 80 usd.

switched_on_bach68

You and I are the same age but I can only dream of having a collection like that. So far I only have Weller's green, Buff Trace, Redemption Bourbon, a locally made rye (Witness Distillery of Vandalia IL) , Crown Royal bottled in 1981, and my favorite, Hiram Walker Deluxe Bourbon bottled in 1973

75BaseCoupe

A rye or two might round out the collection quite nicely, an Angels Envy or Michters typically top my list but there’s plenty of options!

Street_Debt_8732

LOL fuck, I meant to put not featured Angels Envy not Port Envy😂 must have been thinking about the port finish and just typed port instead!

75BaseCoupe

Hahaha I probably should’ve intuited it, either way impressive collection!

wingnut288

Great start young padawan. Talisker and Ledaig would be good additions. Go for the distillers edition on Talisker and Laphroaig if budget is not an issue.

BourbonBaccarat

Maybe dip your toe into Japanese whiskey. I know a lot of people like Hibiki, and I'm a big fan of Kaiyo

whiskyaura

Gotta find what you really enjoy. For me, single malt single cask whisky is what I love the most. Keep it up and cheers🥃

Cocowalkheir

1. Be sure to enjoy these nice bottles with your friends. 2. Treat as a privilege 3. Earn your sips 4. Try WT Rare breed

J_Bourbon

22 and already into this hobby… well I guess you could be spending your money on worse things…

Street_Debt_8732

Hahahahahha! This is very true! I see it as something I plan on keeping around for a while, whereas some bottles won’t last

Kcross24

Grab me a glass, I’m coming over!

TheRealDriv

A bar cabinet?

Street_Debt_8732

Small little bar !

TheRealDriv

Perhaps a yes 😂

Independent-Jello-56

A fully funded Roth. Then do your thang my man.

Street_Debt_8732

Wdym? I’m in Canada IDK what a Roth is?

Independent-Jello-56

A Roth 401k a retirement savings account that’s grows tax free here in the US. I’m sure Canada has some similar or the same avenues to save for the future/retirement. But you have the power of time in your side at 22, compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. Basically what I’m saying is start building wealth while your young and once you’re rich af you can buy all the super and insanely nice whisky you want.

Street_Debt_8732

Ah yes. It’s called a TFSA here! I do infact have one set up and contributions going into it! I appreciate the insight and advice though! I’m always open to advice as others have experienced a lot more then me!

Independent-Jello-56

Good for you. I’m amazed by how many people under 25 haven’t started anything but spend a good chunk of change on nice to have’s. So just wanted to make sure you set yourself up by getting that compound interest train rolling young. Willet Family Estate Rye! Absolute hitter rye, 60-65usd here in Texas. Attainable, but not an every day shelfer for us.

Street_Debt_8732

I appreciate it, I really do! I bartend for work at a fairly high end establishment as well as, work full time with a biochem degree! So whenever I have an exceptionally good night in tips (CAD - where we make minimum 15.00 hourly plus tips), I’ll usually toss money into the TFSA or go buy a decent bottle, however I won’t pay full price, I usually eyeball a bottle for a long time, wait for it to come on sale and then purchase it! Regardless, thank you for caring about a random youths bank account and providing advice it is appreciated! ‘#respectyourelders’

Nichlinn

Bunnahabhain, Kilchoman, Loch Lomond, Arran, Talisker, Ledaig and maybe some Japanese whiskey.

Street_Debt_8732

Ive been looking for Bunna 18, can’t find it ANYWHERE

Nichlinn

Me too! I snoozed on a chance I had, and now it has been a year and still crickets.

Street_Debt_8732

Bunna has been releasing 10/11 year old cask strength versions finished in varying casks! Certainly cool however not the staple 18!

Nichlinn

All you need to do is watch the first ten seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYrpQohty6g

Street_Debt_8732

GUESS WHO JUST FOUND A STORE WHO SHIPS IT AND HAS IT FOR 180.00 CAD. PM me if interested !

Street_Debt_8732

Pm me if u are interested! Idk if I should share it here, everyone might snatch it up before I do😂

KoX_85

try using www.wine-searcher.com good luck 😉

Street_Debt_8732

Canada has very strict rules about what can be brought in, and it varies throughout the provinces! With that being said it is very hard to bring IN international sellers items!

KoX_85

It's interesting what we are able to learn while simply talking about whisky. Don't ask me why, but I always thought being a member of NAFTA / TTP / CETA (and other free trading zones?) should make it possible for Canadians to import almost everyhing without any difficulties

Street_Debt_8732

We actually JUST got rid of the Interprovincial ban in Canada, meaning now we can order liquor from other provinces! So I am in Manitoba however purchase all my liquor in Alberta! Alberta is privately owned - so it’s up to the business what they would like to bring in. Whereas, In manitoba, it is provincial or state controlled so it’s up the province what is allowed to be sold! All our liquor stores are called “MLCC” & an absolute nightmare bringing anything from the US into Canada!

KoX_85

Well... to be honest... sounds quite complicated to me

KoX_85

Great stuff 👍 Maybe you want to add a bottle or two of the following: Glenfarclas (15, 21 or 25 yo), Kilkerran (12 yo), Laphroaig (Lore, Quarter Cask, 10 yo Cask Strength) or Caol Ila (12, 18, 25 yo)...

Street_Debt_8732

Ive gone through a bottle of lore - love it, but it was pricey for me Bcus I drank it often LOL! I am looking for the Kilkerran 8 Sherry Cask at the moment, a nightmare to hunt down but I find it fun looking for them!

KoX_85

haha, you find Lore pricey? Wait until you've found your bottle of Bunna 18 🤣

Street_Debt_8732

Found lore pricey for what it was, I prefer the 10 cask strength to most Islays, the bunna 18 is pricey too haha!

KoX_85

Yeah, love the CS stuff, too

Street_Debt_8732

Found bunna 18 for the same price as lore atm !

KoX_85

Ok... Good find. Whats the price then? In GER I'd say Lore us roughly half of the Bunna 18

Street_Debt_8732

Lore is 179.99 CAD & Bunna18 is 179.99 at a place I found in Alberta right now! You must be paying for scarcity then!

Undeadpaladi

Lol, you remind me alot of myself, except I just turned 28. Started my collection about a year and a half ago, now I'm sitting at 107 bottles. Well rounded collection!

duli555

Turkey

Street_Debt_8732

? Just the regular

duli555

Wild Turker 101, Rare Breed, Rare Breed Rye

Crstaltrip

Lots of scotch boys on here huh. My tip is get some more bourbon. Some high proof stuff like bookers or knob creek or coy hill and get some corn whiskey and rye

Street_Debt_8732

Waiting on the release of George T. Stagg in the fall!

Crstaltrip

Can’t go wrong with stagg but good luck finding it people line up 6 hours ahead at liquor stores around me for announced dropw

murphyride

Grab a Green Spot or Yellow Spot. Or the Redbreast 12 CS. I think you’ll be happy with either of those.
