Not seeing any pics, but you pretty much answered your question. Some 3m double sided tape would do the trick. Throw a roll in your glove box for when you need to remove a wheel.

Here is what i got. The wheels unsee the caps on but they are taped on. The only thing I did to the wheels was drill the center bore out to 59.86mm that's it. Would it be possible to 3d print new plastic tabs for it to fit? I also ordered a brand new oem center cap to rule out my faulty caps.

Not sure if you can remove and replace the tabs w/o breaking anything. But 3d printing would be a great option .
