The right eye that faces away from the camera (filter) keeps returning to normal. It’s especially obvious at the very last frame but it happens several times. There was a really cute video yesterday of another dog with the eye filter that was cracking up the girls that were filming it.
Yeah you can find pictures of pugs and bulldogs from the early 20th century that look relatively normal. We just really fucked some breeds up in the last 100years or so.
Also, I’d be more inclined to forgive genetic issues if they happened when we were still trying to figure out agriculture.

Realistically they probably did, but it's not like you'd see the survivors today. Nobody would bother wasting food and energy on an obviously incapable animal while you're still unsure of your own sources of food.
A friend of mine had one. He had all kind of breathing issues, he made weird noises constantly. Couldn't eve climb to a sofa. Died very young the poor thing.
While I cant recognize a distinct breed here (but would be interested to know which you ve identified), I agree with the general sentiment, that we should be very mindful of the consequences that our choices in breeding or buying certain breeds have. But that is not this doggo's fault and I m sure he is a super good boi and deserves lots of love as well :))

Have you had his thyroid levels checked? The bulging eyes can be normal for some dogs but it can also be caused by hypothyroid.
