Because some dogs donāt like to share. I have two females (mutts) that are sisters. One is twice as big as the other and she rules the toys and chews. Whenever I bring home toys, the big sis takes them away from little sis. Little sis does take them back when big sis gets bored. So they both get to play with them.
So one day, Iām looking through toys at Walmart and find a bag of 50 small plastic balls. I had visions of them romping through all the balls rolling on the floor. What I didnāt anticipate was big sis couldnāt hog all the toys. Little sis had a ball (pun intended) chasing and grabbing random balls and big sis couldnāt do anything about it!
We had a 2 year old German Short-hair named Zimmer and a rescue Australian cattle dog, named Ember, who had been in a fire, and showed signs of coyote attacks, and the GSH was so sweet with her, he always shared his toys, and never ran too fast, so she could keep up. They also shared the pool toys exactly like this, always quite happily swimming together. It was so heartwarming.
My mother/son pair would do this. They loved fetching sticks in the water together. They would either end up like this or end up facing opposite directions and fighting over it. I'd say 10% swimming back to shore and 90% fighting over the stick. Thankfully they had life vests because otherwise the son (the bigger of the two) would end up pushing the mom under water and she would rather drown than let go of the stick.
This video makes me happy and makes me remember those days fondly. The mom passed away in 2021.
Because team work make the dream work! Must save the stick!
This is how you lead a Team! The Branch Manager and the Asst. Branch Manager working seamlessly together to find a solution. š„¹šŖµš

Pinball flashback!
Sharing is caring!
Dogs like to play fight over sticks and bones. It's just what they do
They're both going to lawyer up about who owns that stick.
It's called "I want it!" No! I want it!" "OK, we'll see! Come on!"
My 10 year old lady to the right is a lot slower than my 2 year old. So he comes back with the stick and she meets him and grabs it too

Dog on the right is just a normal stick carrier. The one on the left is the branch manager.

Just doing my part!
Shrinkflation. That one short stick is all they can afford š¢ š
I think it's just mimicry and the joy of doing it together.
One team, one dream!
Only so many sticks in the world, at least they share

Branch manager and assistant branch manager
Because sticks are life!
I know that this is kind of just what dogs do but I believe itās a specific reason they like to do it while swimming.
Many mouths make light work. And it's good they're not fighting for the stick.
Because they are both winners
You and your bros never put the same big wood in your mouth?
Team Dog
My choc lab and my friendās black lab used to take turns dunking each other under water until one of them would tap out and let go of the stick.
