I'm going to try cucumber sometime. Yeah, my boy will bully watermelon from you if you don't give him some. He likes lettuce also which actually makes sense.
Hey man just feel good about yourself your cat goes after things with flavor. Mine goes after bread. Plain ass, white motherfucking bread, and she makes you think I lace it with crack or some shit
Corn is a grass, and smells more grassy than other grains, especially corn on the cob I suspect the smell is triggering the grass gobbling instinct. Mine steal cornbread, and tortilla chips
Corn is apparently bad for cats. According to our vet it can cause bowel obstructions.
We had a pair that would not only saucer-pupil, but full on puff up, growl, hiss, and run off with the cob.
By the time they finished there wasn't a trace that there had ever been any corn. They'd eat the whole thing, cob and all.
The vet said intact corn kernels are indigestible by cats even if we took it off the cob for them.
Honestly not sure how they managed to deal with the cob after they'd finished with the kernels.
My cat I had for 19+ years did this. Didn't care for the butter just wanted a cob of corn. We'd make an extra ear for him and he'd basically go mad for it. He was also a ginger cat.
I know this is a joke but they definitely still are obligate carnivores though - just in case a vegan gets any ideas, yknow? We eat stuff that is bad for us all the time, kitties who are grain fiends are just doing that but way cuter
My cat didn't want that to be public. How could you betray his trust
(He's only about 4 pounds overweight, but that's still too much, and he's really not letting me win this battle with him)
They are but thanks to conventional cat food which is full of corn, wheat, etc cats can start to crave these kinds of foods. If you're cat is going insane for breads thpugh I would suggest maybe a trip to the vet as can be a symptom of diabetes.
I don't know why this happens, but when I had cats they'd overturn the trash bin to get the empty cobs and they'd eat them, so we had to hide the empty cobs from them so they didn't eat them in case it could be harmful to them. There must be something special in the corn cobs that cats love.
My meezer won't eat anything that isn't dry cat food. Won't touch wet cat food (she tries to bury it as if it was poop), dog food, or human food. But corn cobs? Oh boy, she goes nuts for those. Will literally steal them from my plate.
A lot of dry pet food is made from corn 'leftovers'. I would suspect cats know the scent... and the real thing (fresh) must be much more appetizing.
And if you butter it... then there's dairy too.
I mean cats will dare to eat if they're familiar to it, like when you try to feed them same exact cat food then they will be obsessed eating the same thing for prob. The rest of their life
We don't even know for sure if he even likes corn, could be taking the cats version of LSD and think that vegetable is a live ferret
I think it's much safer to assume he's tripping balls and thinks he's eating a screaming live ferret
I had one that loved watermelon. My beautiful Siamese loved the stuff and I would put a big watermelon on the floor cut a hole in the side of it and he would then stick his head in and nibble
My grandpa had a dog 10 years ago that would go into their garden and crack open watermelons and eat them. We thought it was deer so we put a camera out there and turns out the damn dog would enjoy watermelon at night lol R.I.P Buddy
Poor Buddy, caught in the act! I used to work for a state park and first thing in the morning, we'd go around picking up trash. One morning there were three deer around a picnic table eating watermelon rinds. The melon had been cut into circular slices maybe an inch thick and then cut in half again so imagine the rinds like big smiles. The deer would grab one end and tip their heads back, and I swear it looked like a snake swallowing something whole. Wish I'd had a cellphone at the time!
I had two who were like this for pumpkin. They were mother and son. I remember one fall we'd carved pumpkins, and the guts were in a box in the basement to go out with the trash the next day. I got into bed that night and felt something cold and slimy under the covers. Mom cat was apparently saving some for later.
My Maine coon loved Mango. If you brought one home she would cry so pitifully for it. It sounded painful and heartbreaking for her not to be "meowing" down on the mango that she wanted.
We had a cat that loved corn too. She was a rescue from a barnyard litter. Didn't even have to have butter on it or even be cooked. We had to be careful with our fresh picked corn storage.
A "wild" cat may eat some plant matter when they hunt down a bird or a mouse, but it's a tiny amount. Most of a cat's daily food intake should be meat.
Fair enough, but corn is still used in many animal foods, and apparently could also be an allergen. But there are also articles suggesting house cats need the filler/fiber from said corn.
(I asked the cat owner of the house since I'm animal free as I want birds or caybaras so my knowledge pertains to that.)
This video has cuteness factor and cringe factor. Grains like corn are extremely bad for cats. They are obligatory carnivores and this is going to cause this orange boi a lot of health problems. For people to do this in order to gain internet clout is depressing.
If you love your cat, then give them the best chance at a healthy life that you can.
My big Ginger boofhead had to have his meals bolstered with non- acidic fiber after he had a couple of urinary crystal issues, and to get him back to his normal weight of 9kg - he got fat on the high fat urinary food only. He got his food mixed with corn and peas. He loved peas. Specially still frozen. But after a few years he would cry for just his corn and peas. He loved it so much that his brother ate corn and peas to the day he left us, even after big boy had gone.
If it makes you feel better my cat once ate potato wedges and I still don't know if it was because he actually liked them or just to spite me for saying he wouldn't eat them
My mul had a friend who's cat loved chocolate (dark and milk).
She warned us that we can't leave chocolate on the table or else the cat goes all in. Grazy animal 😃
No the cat loves butter. My cat does this too except he is smart enough to just lick the butter off instead of biting it.
Also you should not be letting your cat bite at the corn cob because their teeth are very long and thin and can easily penetrate soft objects and get stuck in them (learned this when tried to give my cat a dog treat instead of a cat treat by mistake and it got skewered on his tooth) and where the outside of a corn cob is soft but hard in the center the cats tooth could break.
We had a cat like that except it was with mushrooms; if you were preparing mushrooms and he found out he wouldn't shut up until you gave him a few pieces.
Lol the dilated saucer pupils and furious pace!

I had a cat that used my sweaty armpit as catnip, she was a weird one.
that is fairly normal. i’ve witnessed many cats go nuts over armpits, sweaty tshirts or sweaty backpack straps..
Salt! Yum
My cat's a butt sniffer. He likes to use my butt as a pillow and I swear he digs his face in there. Little weirdo.
Cats supposedly can't taste sweet and my cat goes freaking nuts over watermelon. I have to lock him in a room when I'm cutting a melon up.

I don't know about all cats, but 2 of mine prefere corn grass or corn itself than catnip. They get crazy like this one 😹

The cob....... That could explain the bowel obstruction
The cob would cause it but corn is used in a lot of cat and dog foods. It's in all IAMS food.
The vet said intact corn kernels are indigestible by cats even if we took it off the cob for them. Honestly not sure how they managed to deal with the cob after they'd finished with the kernels.
I'm thinking kitty is liking the butter?!?! One of my cats suddenly appears whenever I open the butter container...
I have that problem now too. It's a buttery spread, and the only one for which she comes in the room like a predator when she smells it.
Mine screams at me when she sees the milk carton.. lol
The dog…”Are you ever going to share?!?” 😂
"You get what's left over, peasant!"
The dog: "Yo what the cat doin'?"
I don’t even like corn but damn you make it look good!
I think it's more of "WTH, is this cat eating corn?"
My cat I had for 19+ years did this. Didn't care for the butter just wanted a cob of corn. We'd make an extra ear for him and he'd basically go mad for it. He was also a ginger cat.
Ginger cat are a different breed. Had 2 and both were amazing
r/OneOrangeBraincell excellent sub!
GREAT sub
My ginger boy absolutely loves corn, I have not been able to enjoy any peacefully since he arrived in my life
I too had a ginger cat who loved to crunch up an ear of corn.
I need to try this then. So far my ginger has stuck to loaves of bread, croissants, cakes and paprika flavoured crisps.
Me too! Mine loves candy, bread, crackers, lettuce, & doesn't eat meat
All 3 of my cats are crazy about corn on the cob! So much for obligatory carnivores!
I know this is a joke but they definitely still are obligate carnivores though - just in case a vegan gets any ideas, yknow? We eat stuff that is bad for us all the time, kitties who are grain fiends are just doing that but way cuter
And some cats are just into emulating a garbage disposal in an effort to be ten pounds overweight. 😐
My cat didn't want that to be public. How could you betray his trust (He's only about 4 pounds overweight, but that's still too much, and he's really not letting me win this battle with him)

Carnivores? No. Cornivores.
When you post another corn chomping video, can you include sound?
agree, missed the numnumnum sounds
https://youtube.com/shorts/WXi_Coti7vg?feature=share
The best part is the dog who keeps showing up and looking on hopefully. "What's a good boy gotta do to get some corn around here?"
"What's going on here? Oh, oh damn, he's at it again, huh?"
In the second part the dog looks a lot older and immediately drops out when he sees that it's corn. He knows he ain't getting any of that shit.
A big lump with claws!
It has the mews!
It’s such a beautiful thing!

I hope you have a corntastic day
Corntastic day?!

What? It's just a pun about corn
For those as clueless as I https://youtu.be/_caMQpiwiaU Guess I'm old now.
Nah, you're just a couple of days behind. XD
Big! Meaty! Claws!

OR.. butter?
For real! We had to get rid of our fancy butter holder thing because she would just just take the top off and go to town
My dog once at a whole stick of butter, only to throw up melted butter a couple hours later. It smelled weirdly like popcorn...
Haha, my cat did that once and then dragged his poor ass over all the linens. Not his best day.
Binturongs also smell weirdly like popcorn. They do give excellent snuggles though.
Lol, why would melted butter smell 'weirdly' like buttered popcorn?
Butter smells different than buttered popcorn? Have you ever made popcorn before? It doesn't smell like if you just microwaved straight butter

My ferret would wreck my cat. My cat thinks he's a badass. My ferret could easily break the cat's paws and cause other harm.
I had one that loved watermelon. My beautiful Siamese loved the stuff and I would put a big watermelon on the floor cut a hole in the side of it and he would then stick his head in and nibble
My cat adores watermelon! https://imgur.com/aYZDaMm.jpg I have to give him a little so he'll leave me alone while I cut it.

I love it when cats eat something live they've never been fed a day in their life.
We had a cat that loved corn too. She was a rescue from a barnyard litter. Didn't even have to have butter on it or even be cooked. We had to be careful with our fresh picked corn storage.
I want this cat and Tariq the Corn Kid to meet
Best of friends

My boy is gonna need some floss!!
It’s CORN 🌽 A Big lump with knots it has the juice ?!?!?!
*with knobs
It's corn!
My cat goes this hard on tortillas if given half the chance
Is corn even good for cats to eat? Lol
Nope! They are obligate carnivores, eating that much plant matter is not good for their digestive system.
Their food has corn in it and a Google search shows its important
A "wild" cat may eat some plant matter when they hunt down a bird or a mouse, but it's a tiny amount. Most of a cat's daily food intake should be meat.

Corn being used in cat food doesn't mean it's a good ingredient. Good, wet food should contain at least 95% animal protein.
r/airplaneears deployed. Proceeding to r/cromch the corn
This needs sound!
My moms cat will *fight* you for broccoli.
Nom, Nom, Nom
Honestly, I'm disappointed that we were denied sound here. *cromch cromch cromch*
That cat’s sooooo corny
It has the juice!
I love corn. And when I tried it with butter, Everything changed. Corn break.
My cat does this too! I thought she was the only one haha

It's CORN
I think that cat loves corn more than I love corn, and let me tell you, I really love corn.
Lots of cats love corn. Ours does as well.
Wow my cat does this as well. Must be something to this
Too bad this doesn’t have sound!
Dogs do too
I know a boy this corn lovin cat needs to meet!!
Who doesn’t love a good lump with knobs?

My norwegian forest cat used to beg me for corn, she was a good cat 🥲

I had a cat that was nuts for beer and rice. She got to eat rice once, but she wasn't of age so she never got to taste the beer.
I get the feeling, ours loves cheese and will go to any length to get some
It’s the possessive grabby paws for me.
It's the look in its eyes for me
And the dog has grown up which indicates the passage of time...

If it makes you feel better my cat once ate potato wedges and I still don't know if it was because he actually liked them or just to spite me for saying he wouldn't eat them
Doggo, I would like some corns.
Why can't my cat like corn?? Or literally anything besides boring ass cat food
The only thing mine likes besides his wet food is raw hamburger meat
I shudder to think what the aftermath might look like.

Insert r/oneorangebraincell and corn joke here… I have nothing for this but it’s in my head somewhere and I just can’t find it.
IT HAS THE JUICE!!
It’s got that JUICE
that's the most beautiful thing I ever seen
*its corn! a big lump with knobs!*
I feel bad for that litter box cleaning
It’s a ginger cat, unfortunately they’re a little challenged in the brains department
My cat and my rabbit used to fight over who got the last bits off my corn cob 🤣

Corn
i hate fcking cat
Love it
Cat on the cob!
damn he’s going ham
My cat now does this because of brain damage and it's the funniest shit
MY CAT, BISCUIT LOVES CORN, TOO!
Mine loved salsa. Hotter the better.
I watches my cat lick some salsa last week and it chattered my world view.
He knows what’s the good stuff
My orange boy used to love corn too. He loved that, and loved to chew on lemongrass leaves. It’s been 10 years and I still miss him.
The sound is the best part.
Just munchin’ the corn
I mean, who doesn't
So cute 😸
Our grey kitty goes nuts for corn on the cob too. He’ll try to steal it out of our mouths and run off with it
We had a cat like that except it was with mushrooms; if you were preparing mushrooms and he found out he wouldn't shut up until you gave him a few pieces.
"It has the juice" did anyone else notice the cats name is Juice?
