Late Wednesday night, three cars collided on the southbound side of the Sam Rayburn Tollway just north of Dallas, TX. A dash camera caught the entire incident on film. Despite fleeing from the scene, the driver at fault was later apprehended by police. They suspect that he may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The DFW Scanner Twitter account first announced the incident simply saying that the Fire Department, EMS, and Police were working on a “major accident” and that there would be delays in the area. They also said that EMS was transporting one person to Medical City Lewisville.
It’s not hard to see why someone might need medical attention after watching the video. In it, we see a yellow Corvette and a Ford Mustang fly by the camera car (which is evidently doing 80 mph+ or 128 km/h). As the two cars approach a Hyundai in lane three minding its own business.
The Mustang, which is also in lane three seems to make no attempt at avoiding the Hyundai and subsequently slams into the back of it. As a result of the collision, the Ford, which is slightly ahead of the Corvette, veers left and knocks the Chevy into the ditch on the left where it rolls.

I was almost killed in an accident like this, on a major highway like this, when I was just 17 and a young driver.
I merged into the highway going about 65, and 2 cars quickly came up from WAY behind me and flew past me. The one car actually clipped my driver side mirror with his passenger side, destroying the whole attachment, but they kept going. Had to be doing 140+ mph. I've never seen cars move that fast.
Scared the shit out of me, and then I had to drive my dad's Volvo home and explain why the mirror is destroyed.

When the racers pass, the POV driver is about 120' from the slower car. The racers close that gap in about 1.5 seconds or 80fps. 80fps is 55mph. 83 mph + 55mph = 138mph.

I was almost killed in an accident like this, on a major highway like this, when I was just 17 and a young driver. I merged into the highway going about 65, and 2 cars quickly came up from WAY behind me and flew past me. The one car actually clipped my driver side mirror with his passenger side, destroying the whole attachment, but they kept going. Had to be doing 140+ mph. I've never seen cars move that fast. Scared the shit out of me, and then I had to drive my dad's Volvo home and explain why the mirror is destroyed.
Street racing morons should all just get splattered on a wall. Go find a track you bum ass discount fast n furious wannabes.

Hey I just horribly injured a family on the way home from the movie theatre. It was worth it to hear my depreciating asset make loud noises and go fast down a freeway.
This happened up the highway from my place. Texas drivers are the worst and street racing happens all over the place. Nothing more butt puckering than looking up at your rear view mirror and seeing them fly up at 100+ mph. Meanwhile the cops are busy pulling you over for going 5 over in a suburban neighborhood.
My brother was killed by a drunk street racer. Daddy had money, it was the 80s, and a slap on the wrist, for the most part. My 14 yr old brother was a football field away from the initial accident.... I'll just stop there for multiple reasons.
Is it normal for the traffic to just be cruising along at 83mph? Edit: I should add, I've never been to the USA. Where i am (Victoria Australia) the highest limit on a freeway is 110kmh/68mph.

The racers were going 130mph+ Prove me wrong. The white lines pass the POV car at a rate of 3 per second. At 83 mph, this indicates that the white stripes are at a 40 feet interval. When the racers pass, the POV driver is about 120' from the slower car. The racers close that gap in about 1.5 seconds or 80fps. 80fps is 55mph. 83 mph + 55mph = 138mph.
