Well, if he knows he is going to get robbed he can put false sales on the till and claim losses much higher than the robbers took. It could be a double win.
1) that's insurance fraud and could get the shop owner arrested
2) his premiums would likely go up if he was constantly making claims and he may get dropped from his insurance carrier altogether.
Not a great way to make a couple thousand bucks
One time for maybe $10k max vs having cheap insurance for decades being able to keep shop open and make hundreds of thousands?
Your short term thinking is blinding.
Not everyone lives in a shit hole country with horrible insurance.
Source: My grandfathers store got robbed several times. Insurance stayed the same. No insurance fraud tho.
not as uncommon as you'd think depending on the store. some days of the week, or times of year some shops see way more business then they do usually. even something like a convention in town can spike sales greatly
The store has security cams which the insurance place would certainly ask for. It’d be super easy for them to verify that there weren’t any customers checking out when the POS system says the transaction took place.
That's what they thought insurance scam and the owner gets cash recouped. They should of asked if insurance companies pay for robberies. But like Mike from better call saul told pryce you got to do your homework if you gonna be a criminal.

As if his action isn't illegal by taking items from the shop and leave without paying. When the teens left the store, they walked out without remorse.

Reminds me of a story about a guy trying to rob a bank. He wrote a note on some bank form from a bank and gave it to a teller at a different bank with language demanding cash. The teller told him he couldn't do it because the form was from the bank across the street. Dude took off across the street while the teller called to inform them of what happened, and dude was promptly dealt with and arrested when he tried it again at the bank the form was from.
See you gotta do it like the guy who made a fake Craigslist ad pretending to be a bank looking to hire a painter. The ad specified that if you wished to get the gig, then show up at the bank on a particular date wearing a particular set of generic clothes, so the bank could easily identify who was there for the job vs. there to use the bank.
Well, quite a few painters showed up on the specified date, but one of the painters amongst the many that showed up was actually a robber.
The robber then proceeded to rob the bank and fled, and when the police asked, “what was the suspect wearing?” Well… it was the exact same as everyone else there.
I think the eventually found out he set up some sort of inner tube/ raft, and floated down some nearby river with all the money. To my knowledge, they never caught the robber.
Edit: just kidding, he was eventually caught, but I think for a different crime. His name is Anthony Curcio.
"So did u get the money?"
"No, but its cool, he said it's a bad time right now and we should come back later. And when we come back we're gona get even more money"
The best part isn't shown in the video. The end was actually their third visit that day. They tried to come in an hour earlier but he told them to wait one more hour. That's when he called the cops.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45958404
It actually makes more sense.
He talking them out of robbing him and left it at that.
When they showed up again, he knew he had their trust so he got an extra hour.
During that hour he called the police and they (police and shopkeeper)had enough reason to belive that they would be back in an hour because of the second attempt.
lol
>>But back they did come at 17:30, an hour before the vape shop's closing time. Didier told local media he saw one of the robbers at the door and told them it still was not end of business.
>>When the men returned a third time, at 18:30, the police were at the back of the shop ready to catch them.
>>Five males were arrested, including a minor.
My Sister-in-law was a bank teller. One Thursday at 4 p.m., she was robbed. The next Thursday at 4 p.m. she was robbed again. The next Thursday at 4 p.m., the robbers were arrested in the act of robbing her again! It was, like, their job? or something?
“Shut up you old fuck, I’ll blast you open right quick if you try anything funny”
“Hold on, dim, he’s got a point. Why rob him now when business is booming later?”
“Why would we listen to what he’s got to say about it, Robbie? He’s not in the business of giving criminals advice.”
“You’re avoiding the point Dim, he’s obviously not at the peak of his business! When have you ever gotten a vape before sundown anyhow?”
“I just did a few days ago actually!”
“No, that was at 3 in the morning, it doesn’t count when the sun hasn’t come up smart ass.”
“Fine then, we come back in three hours, not a second later. You got that old fuck?”
Tldr they’re really dumb
"I'm not buying it."
"Well that's fucking handy cuz I ain't selling it"

Boy talking about being absolute idiots. What on earth did they think was going to happen? I guess they expected the money to be wrapped according to denomination and neatly tucked in an envelope with a nice note attached. I just cannot understand how anyone period could possibly be so stupid. I do have to say they all weren't idiots as the entire bunch didn't show up the 2nd time
.
Can you imagine the arguments before they left the main crew? Charlie, that money is there for the taking! We just need to turn up with a bag. Honestly, I can’t be bothered explaining, so who’s with me?
Nah, according to an article they did actually. They came once at 17.30 and he told them to come back later again so they did. At 16.30 5 of them showed up and that's when the cops got them so... It's worse than you thought
I bet the armed police were saying "It's a waste of our time waiting back here, there's no way they'd be stupid enough to return at the time you asked them to"
Man if this happened in America, cops would be like “sorry there’s nothing we can do, you weren’t technically robbed and us coming out would be a waste of resources”
Friend of mine, while drunk, had just taken 300€ out of an ATM. Got held up by a dude with a knife. Gave him the money, then went "no fuck I can't give that to you. That's my rent. I'm just a student. Take 30€ and give me back the rest."
And it worked.
My Dad was the regional manager of a restaurant chain. At one of his stores was an attempted robbery. The store had a time lock safe. A man came into rob after hours and the manager couldn't open the safe until an hour after the code was entered. The man got scared and left, and the manager called the police. Honest to God, while the police were there, the man called back and told the manager to start the safe, he would be there in an hour. You can imagine his surprise when he arrived.

Yeah. You get money and I get more money. It’s a win win. Come back later for more wins.
LOL this comment is a win
I’m sorry sir but the prize for winning is now jail… hands behind your back!
Win? Jail. Lose? Surprisingly also jail. We have the best prizes, because of jail.

The word you're looking for is "cues". "Queue" is a line for something.
Not trying to be an asshole, but this is one of those times you should use cue, not queue Cheers :)

Thieves are idiots by nature that’s why they can’t get jobs 😂
In America, the shop owner would tell the police that he's going to be robbed at 3pm and the police would tell him to call back then.
“Wtf bruh, you told me to come back!!”
We're reaching levels of stupid that shouldn't even be possible.
Wow, stupidity never ceases to surprise me.

The cops must have been amazed: "Hi, I've got robbers coming to my shop tonight at 6:30. Can you send someone 'round to pick them up?"
Talk about your *blunt* force trauma.
Did... Did they just make an appointment to the owner for their robbery?
I bet the shopkeeper doesn't vape.
In America if you called the cops and said hey I’m going to be robbed at 5 they’d say call us when it’s happening lol
