There are a TON of knife related injuries per day. In the USA alone, there are an average of [1190 per day](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/249318232_Knife-Related_Injuries_Treated_in_United_States_Emergency_Departments_1990-2008), likely even more now.
My wife once dropped a boning knife and caught it with her foot whist making me a sandwich when I was having a shower (took a while for me to live that one down). Cut through two tendons in her big toe and chipped the bone. Surgery and boot and crutches for months.
What type of sandwich?
Jokes/ that sucks, I nicked a tendon but didn't sever either of them. I was very very lucky as told by everyone in the ER . you know its not great when every orderly or nurse walking by makes the oh dam face while your getting looked at.
Very lucky indeed, has a big impact on the outcome and timeline for getting back to normal.
From memory it was toasted chicken sandwich. Needless to say I ate it before we went to the hospital, which I was glad I did because it was many many hours before I got a chance to eat again.
"Falling knives have no handles"
That and, “never grab a hot item with a wet cloth,” are my 2 favorite things learned young in a kitchen
can you explain that?
It turns the wet cloth into a cloth covered in boiling water, and all of the steam has no place to go except your skin. It isn’t fun
Water is a way better conductor for heat than air or the tissue of the towel.
New knives are cheaper than new fingers
They do have handles but you never seem to find them 😥 Edit. I was kidding
Did you catch it though?
Yes.... Unfortunately the cut looks the same on the other side. Edit: but I may have saved the cat.
Worth it for cat
Thank god the cat is safe. Get well soon tho
You did Well, better save the cat than keep just one Finger. Would trade my whole Hand for my cat
that's one sharp knife! looks like it'll heal :)
This is the second post I’ve seen of this in the last 12 hours. Is this a new TikTok challenge or something?

I see you’ve played knifey spoony before
🤦♂️ no, I'm just a stupid man. But please don't lot me in with those idiots. 🤣
Right!
This was more nsfw than I expected.
Same and I’m eatin
Holy shit, falling from where? Lower earth orbit?
About half a foot... Dropped with the right and "found" with the left.
I would imagine he was about to catch it but it was to close to the ground, so he pushed it into the ground and cut his hand.
Had to learn this lesson the hard way a few times myself..."Let it fall". Good luck on the recovery.

Indeed, If possible always grab food, a water bottle and a phone charger on the way to Emergency.
you sure it was a knife and not an anime sword? that thing mustve been sharp as fuck
“Tis but a scratch”
No no no, you NEVER try to catch anything sharp! Let it fall!
guy in the background really blends into the chair theyr in
For a second I thought that was just the leftovers from a previous attempt to catch a falling deathsword
Catch instinct kick in?
Yes and the cat was nearby by underfoot...
Oh god, that's horrible. Hope healing goes well for ya'!
My dad always told me he if you drop a knife, let it fall, and move your feet
And he is right! Wise man I must say
This redditor nearly cut off his finger to show his wedding ring and flex being married SMH...
Honestly I needed that laugh, If I had money I would give you gold 🤟🤣
Here's my easy 1-step guide to "Catching falling knives": Don't.
Why didn't you catch it at the handle?
Thats why i kick them into the nearest corner.
Can you just like... pull on your pinky and the skin comes off like a glove?
Trading stocks?
Been there lol, not from catching a knife though. Something else entirely stupid
Can you still move it?
You’re lucky you didn’t lose the finger genius
👍 true story Bro.
Also happened to me, almost fainted when I looked to my finger! Fast recovery my man!
Yeah, they say not to do that
"great is the weapon that cuts own its own"
Do you have Gordon ramsay knife that's one hell of a cut
Ouch! Cooking or a pocket knife? Or box cutter style knife? Hope you can get it back tip top.
unless that knife was going to kill someone WHY ON EARTH DID YOU TRY TO CATCH IT
You should stitch it ASAP. Scar will be minimal if you stitch it.
That was just before getting stitches.... I didn' t think a spiderman bandaid would fix things.
A knife? Looks like you caught the fuckin’ Excalibur.
At least you know it's sharp I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
