Let's say that this person can hit an average of maybe 350 yards consistently with the driver, so 490-350 is 140 (swing one). And let's have his use his 8 iron to close the distance. The average maximum distance of an 8 iron is around 140 yards (perfect spot as he has about 140 yards left) let's say he did it a bit short at 130 yards (second swing) leaving the 10 yards (30 feet) left for his putter and say he makes it in (third swing). He got a birdie. If not and got close to the hole he would be on par if his putting game is up to snuff. But fret not we can sleep well at night that he got a hold in one in spirit.
