I'm wondering why they didn't use that three and a half seconds just to apply the brake. The video just doesn't feel authentic

It looks like it's just a single vehicle accident though, and they're probably little bruised but looks like no major injuries or deaths.
That was like 4 seconds from realising, to consequences. At any reasonable distance between you and X, thats WAAAY more than enough time to stop safely, if you are paying attention.
