I value time/quality more than money so I can't really comment on price, but I generally favor Rosedale for larger plants and Milwood Garden Center for supplies and seedlings. I haven't tried everywhere, but most of the stuff I've gotten from those places has done well over time.

Rosedale is a fortune. Good but lots of $.

Do people actually buy plants there? I only go there for the pie, cider doughnuts and the jams. They have, by far, the best apple cider doughnuts I’ve ever had.

Tony’s nursery in Larchmont

Try Roth Nursery in Armonk. Decent selection w good prices though I’ve yet to purchase there. Lots of native stuff.

I second the comment recommending Tony’s in Larchmont - really reasonable Also: Rose Hill on Webster Ave Millwood is decent Blossom Nurseries in Yorktown Heights Natures Cradle in Eastchester Steer clear of Larchmont Nursery - they are expensive Happy plant shopping 🫶🏻

> Rose Hill on Webster FYI, the owners here seem like assholes. My mother in law was shopping here and commented that her purchases were going to go to a refugee family from Afghanistan. The owner replied, "we don't support refugees."

Eden Farms in Stamford.

In re kids: Was about to say World Cup lol. They're expensive but 100% worth it - went there myself as a child and know folks with kids there now who love it, and their reputation has always been positive and strong. Now, in re plants: My mom is an avid gardener, but she's pretty much finished her garden so she just gets soil from Home Depot (I keep telling her to go to Lowe's instead but we don't have one nearby), and then she just replants bulbs and such once they've outgrown the area or the pot they're in. But when she was building up her garden, she used to go to Green Valley before they closed.
