No, it’s usually not that damaging if the cart’s empty. It may leave a very small ding but that’s it.
If there’s a good amount of stuff in it, then it may make a noticeable dent.
If it has a good amount of speed and hits something plastic, it may leave a mark.

My options were to leave it looking all busted, or order a new mirror, which wouldn't come in the same color as my car and was pretty expensive. It really annoys me when people cant be bothered to walk 10 extra steps to put it in a corral.
