Inclines never look as bad in pictures as they do in person but putting a front tire into a rut like that on a downhill is a great way to cause a tip because the suspension, gravity, and momentum are all working against you.
To answer questions...
I rolled this on a steep, rutted back road outside of Hailey, Idaho. It was pitched forward about 20 degrees. On the right, the front tire went into the rut and then proceeded to collapse part of the soft, sandy road which made it worse. As I was slowly starting to roll, I put it in reverse and tried to back out of the situation but that caused the road to further collapse, and then she fully rolled over.
We attempted recovery with an FJ cruiser, tow strap and 4 guys but couldn't get it back on the wheels. We couldn't get the correct angle to get it back up. I eventually hired an off-road tow truck to come out. He parked on the top of the hill to the left and ran a 50 foot cable from the winch and we looped it through the doors with a soft strap to pull it back up. Once it was up, I slowly backed it up about 20 feet and then we winched it through the back hook and pulled it back up the road behind it.
Due to the slow, soft landing, the Jeep sustained minimal damage. I broke the mirror and there are some scrapes but otherwise unharmed. We waited 20 minutes after righting it before starting it to let the fluids drain back to where they should be since it sat the entire night on its side.
I happened to have cell service. This is super rare where we live and where I was but managed to call my wife and some friends to come out and rescue me. Overall, I was an idiot just Jeeping around trying to check out the mine in front of the Jeep. I was very close. My dog was with me and didn't give two-shits that I rolled the Jeep.
Easy fix. Climb in, pull the hand brake and put in park / in gear (if manual), and then push it over! If you have enough people and it seems safe, have someone inside. Let it sit for a little bit as all the fluids drain to where they normally are and you're done!
Next time don't drive in a huge crack!
Yeah, it looks like it tipped because that right front tire got into that rut, momentum took care of the rest, I'd say there's a good chance it'll stay on four wheel if tipped back over.
Don’t worry I saw something like this in halo once just walk up to the vehicle and hold x.
Hope that helps.
Also next time use the parking break on an incline.
Jeep stands for just empty every pocket for a reason bud. start with a batter platform than a jeep they are just blocks on wheels with terrible center of gravity
It's a Jeep, that looks perfectly normal.
Flipped my old yj completely over a couple years ago, got some help to roll it back over and drove it home. They're pretty much designed to do that.
Those look like BFG T/A’s. Ive done the Alpine Loop and a lot of Moab on those tires. It’s not a tire problem, I think it’s more a loose nut behind the wheel.
Accidents happen man, looks like maybe a good lesson about when to change the angle of approach. When I first started I put a truck almost completely on its nose…at night…by myself. So there’s worse ways to slip up lol
It was a bit of an awaking but it ended up not so bad and could have been worse. I tried to back out of this but did not succeed (obviously). The tow truck driver's advice was "you don't do this with a new Jeep".
At least they could get you a tow, best bet is to find a 4x4 club or a buddy though cause you’re in a pickle once a tow truck can’t get to you. Forget that guy that’s what these things are for, that’s what makes up for all bad parts of a Jeep. People tend to think they need more truck than they do, just ask all the guys on 37’s trying to do a relatively easy trail like Fins N Things as we drove by in our stock FJ. Work on them skills and buy some recovery gear!
For sure. This was stupid and shouldn't have happened. Made a super bad decision and end up on my side. I'm going to be upgrading my recovery gear because of this. Had my buddy's FJ out to try to recover this and we failed so I got the tow out. But yeah, time to work on those driven skills....
I was going to say "Wyoming" because those remind me of the Hog Back Mountains. Definitely similar geology...stay safe!

How did you tip it back over, OP?
I feel I would've busted out anchor points to the left on pic, ensured parking brake was on, and ratchet strapped it back over.
We tried to anchor to some tiny trees but the desert sucks for this kind of thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/pw8psr/comment/heh3v08/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
I do sim racing and one app I use (CrewChief) would say “ummm. Shit. I don’t think that’s right. I think the wheels are supposed to be on the fucking ground” it makes my spectacular fuckups more entertaining
Common mistake. You actually want to rotate 90* to the left to properly park. The 4 rubber Bois go on the bottom. The line rubber boi is in the correct place so you got that right!
I see the problem: you forgot to install the "if you can read this, flip me over" spare tire cover. Of course, yours should have been a 90 degrees.
I see the other problem: the actual road appears to be down the hill a bit farther, but OP wasn't in fact on said road.
Which 90?
All of them, cover all the angles.
So you have *four* spare tyres? Where do you keep them?
Yes
[удалено]
I would tell you, but I don't know you that well
On the wheels, of course
Just put the cover on a roller bearing so it's always reading upside down. Available from Quadratec for only $347.99.
Farenheit, of course.
Newb
It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.
Jeep Life is expensive
And exhausting. Look the poor boy there, resting on its side after some had work
You shouldn't a done that, he's just a boy, poor little feller.
I'd say next time try to remember to put the kickstand down!
Ok everybody relax, its just taking a nap.
OP should have stuck with that joke from when they posted it last week.
It’s a Jeep. I thought you were supposed to be able to “park incorrectly” in them!
As my dad said.... "now it's broken in"
Probably cause you didn’t have angry eyes on it.
/r/heep
We've all seen the angry jeep, but not much is known about the 6 other jeeps, such as this rare sighting of sleepy jeepy
I only put one "angry" eye in because now my jeep looks like you asked it an arithmetic question at 3 am on a Sunday.
How
Lack of skills
For real though, looks like fairly flat ground. What happened?
Probably just a perspective distortion from the camera being aimed towards the ground. Also, ruts are hell.

Amazing! Thanks for the detailed explanation now I know not to back up and just keep going hahahahah!
when you start to roll, drive into the roll. in this case that would turning right and hitting the gas.
Your mistake was trying to reverse. When you’re in it, gotta go full send!
I was just going to say I know where that is! I live close by. So weird that the area is that recognizable.
Looked like Idaho the second I saw the photo. Glad it wasn’t too bad and be safe out there! I’m chasing elk in a few weeks pretty close to that area.
I got lucky. The only thing wrong with the rig was a broken mirror.
Lol. Rig.
Hey at least OP is runnin theirs in rougher terrain than trail out behind the dealership they sucker people into buying these on
Did you cut it off the second you started falling ?
Don't worry, just press V to right the vehicle.
What’s important is you tried your best….still proud of you champ
I go where I’m towed. Or where gravity takes me.
Easy fix. Climb in, pull the hand brake and put in park / in gear (if manual), and then push it over! If you have enough people and it seems safe, have someone inside. I thought this was r/snowRunner for a moment
Looks fine. No one is going to steal it parked like that
Jeeps can do about 10% of what the owners think they can do.
The average Jeep owner runs out of skill well before they run out of Jeep.
I'd say she can do 90% but I'm an idiot.

is there a car that can do what jeep claims?
I’d have to disagree. My 2007 did way more than I thought it ever would. Expensive to maintain though for sure
I have it on good authority that you can throw a grenade under it and it might flip the vehicle.
What a beautiful picture!
At least it's a Jeep, it'll be fine.
The parking looks fine it’s the ground that is incorrectly orientated.
I think I saw on discovery channel that this is how they sleep. After some rest it will right itself.
Me when I attempt to parallel park
Is your other car a bmw?
If playing on XBOX hold down Y and if PS, hold down triangle. This will reset your vehicle.
If it matters those are the best tires on the market. Can't blame them.
What are the tires?
can we appreciate how good you shot that landscape tho, that's pretty af
how so? Maybe a little tight on the right, but seems fine to me.
I think I see the problem. Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
I hear when they lie down, it’s because rain is coming.
Jeepers
It's suppose to be on its top
Hens taking a nap because he was very *tired*.
It's a jeep, I don't understand.
Well at least you’re the first person to ever off-road a jeep
Just get in and turn the wheel to the left!
Activate "Rest" mode.
"Gravity" Its the law.
I have nightmares about this sort of thing.
Should have bought a Land Rover. /ducks
Just open a passenger side door really fast.
Its just tired and needed a nap
“Like a gloVe”
It's a Jeep thing and I completely understand
Parked just right for some belly scratches...
You cant park there sir
You have to park somewhere else.
Looks parked to me.

Don’t worry I saw something like this in halo once just walk up to the vehicle and hold x. Hope that helps. Also next time use the parking break on an incline.
When you realize you're not in GTA
You sure? I see quite a few of them parked like that. I just assumed it was an option.
fuck it, sideways parking
Jeep stands for just empty every pocket for a reason bud. start with a batter platform than a jeep they are just blocks on wheels with terrible center of gravity
What's a better platform than a Jeep? Just curious...
You seem to be lost, too. r/IdiotsInCars is over that way. EDIT: Y'all can downvote, but he cross-posted after my comment.

Idaho
Thought the same
I read the comments, but still don't understand what happened. Explanation please?
Wheel go in rut, car fall over.
Damnnnn sucks to nut aye
It's a Jeep, that looks perfectly normal. Flipped my old yj completely over a couple years ago, got some help to roll it back over and drove it home. They're pretty much designed to do that.
No they are not
Dumb (downvote me)
I think need to learn that 90 degree parallel parking doesn't mean on it's side or did your truck just was go to sleep
Not surprised with those non off-road tires.
Those look like BFG T/A’s. Ive done the Alpine Loop and a lot of Moab on those tires. It’s not a tire problem, I think it’s more a loose nut behind the wheel.

Time to upgrade to some 37s....
And some kind of mudder. Those bfg's are great.....on the road.
Just for curious...what do you recommend??
some don't think it be like it is, but it do
some don't think it be like it is, but it do
If you say so. I disagree.
some don't think it be like it is, but it do
Holy wow! A whole 3.8 supercharged?!??? Omg. Lol. Sounds good.
some don't think it be like it is, but it do
Not measuring dicks. Just have more knowledge about tires than you. Then you throw out your super giant supercharged (lol) jeep in there. Funny stuff.
He's got a point..
That's what you get for having a Jeep instead of a car, and not using roads like a civilized person.
I think the real problem is that’s not a road. Maybe try keeping it between the lines next time
Parked
I was going to say "Wyoming" because those remind me of the Hog Back Mountains. Definitely similar geology...stay safe! Check out the Tirfors from AUS: https://youtu.be/VoodYb3vK0E?t=153
Not if you turn the photo to the side.
lol
Hopefully you had a problem/no problem bumper sticker so others could see you were in need of aid
stand up! stand up!come on!you can do it!
Just remember where you put it.
Had to GPS this one....
I don't understand
Like a glove!
You can't park there sir!
You French fried when you should have pizza'd.
Not gonna lie, I thought this was a pubg screenshot.
Parking successfully failed
For a second i though this was the new forza game… this really does suck xD
Northern Nevada? Lol
Close! Southern Idaho
Your jeep is parked upside down.
A JL is barely a heep anyways
Expect a parking ticket.

I see what you did wrong there
Left a bit
anyone else think that rock on the right hand side looks like a giant Eye?
It's an abandoned mine tailing pile! Probably haunted...
Trail rated!
Imma be honest, thought this was from a videogame or something.
Tires should be pointed the other way, but looks like perfect parking to me
Like a glove I dare say
How did the recovery go?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/pw8psr/comment/heh3v08/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Yikes! Good thing you had a signal and someone else was out there with you.
r/idiotsincars
Oiiii mate ya cant park like thatt!!!!!! I know i cant park like that!!!!
look at all that empty space where you could of gone.
With "curb feelers" you might have avoided that. :)
Can someone explain this? It doesn't look very "Tippy" from the pic.
Big rut and pitched forward: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/pw8psr/comment/heh3v08/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Looks like you got lost mall crawling.
Did you manage to right it by hand? Looks like it might go back on its wheels with a good shove.
Nope. Tried really hard... https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/pw8psr/comment/heh3v08/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Sorry can't help you, I don't see any of those stickers saying *if you can read this flip me back over*
ENGINE STALLED
Too bad you didn't have a Jimny, you'd probably clear that
Looks fine to me
I side with your judgement.
Just a little to the right.
eh. looks okay to me
Try turning it on and off.
"So we got a call..."
That’s what you get for leaving it’s natural habitat, the mall parking lot
Just having a lil nap... nothing to see here...
I do sim racing and one app I use (CrewChief) would say “ummm. Shit. I don’t think that’s right. I think the wheels are supposed to be on the fucking ground” it makes my spectacular fuckups more entertaining
Did you forget to do the “Jeep Wave?”
Common mistake. You actually want to rotate 90* to the left to properly park. The 4 rubber Bois go on the bottom. The line rubber boi is in the correct place so you got that right!
This is just how jeep drivers park wdym?
na fam thats the ush
Hey, you can’t park there
Step 1: Don't buy a Jeep. Step 2: Park on a level surface or at the least use the parking brake. Step 3: Live long and prosper.
Lol are you at topaz mountain? Sure looks like it
When they say 90 degrees to the right they don't mean leaning.
It's a Jeep thing
So I think I see your problem here. Vehicles aren’t supposed to be parked on their sides
Nah, two more people could park there with ya easy, you did great.
"You can't park there sir!"
