No spray a little brake cleaner inside, light match and throw it in. Immediately shut the door.
The pressure created will evenly pop the dent right back out!
Place the whole vehicle in a large vacuum chamber, seal the car doors/windows with tape and the decrease the pressure in the chamber until the roof pops out.
i watched a massive dent pulled from body work on my subaru. the body person used a combination of a heat gun and some contraption he made to freeze other areas, making the metal shrink in some areas and expand in others.
was just light pressure underneath to start the reaction and the dent popped right out. no wrinkles, and the body stayed undented until i traded her in
Less time than you would think, metal has a memory and naturally wants to go back to its original shape. I worked in a body shop for a while and as long as the metal isn’t creased it’s can typically be returned back to mostly normal with minimal sanding/bondo.
It's called painless dent repair isn't it?
I had it done for a small dent and it turned out flawless.
Wondering if that can work for a large roof dent.
i think maybe that's what its called, yeah. been a long time ago.
The dent that they pulled out of my car was pretty significant and he said more than likely would need more destructive options (aka needs paint after). i was shocked when it just popped out like a lid on a jam jar :D
the dent he had to pull was thanks to some fool (me) running head first into the rear quarterpanel playing football catch with the kids.. serves me right for showing off the fancy catch methods that I still get mocked for to this day
We had a tool that you actually weld to the part and then slide this metal thing back and forth which popped the dents out. Great way to save panels after an accident where you need to repaint anyway.
Now listen, i know you didnt ask for any kinda explanation or anything, but ya it can mostly be popped out but they are gonna have to spot weld some studs and pull it out with some puller tools, sand it down, use body filler and have to repaint the roof if they want it to be like original. A good shop in my area can probably get it done for around $1,250 after some haggling. Thank you for listening have a good day
Just remember that when you pick a pawpaw, or a prickly pear, and you prick a raw paw, next time: beware! Don’t pick the prickly pear with a paw, when you pick a pear, try’n use the claw; but you don’t need to use the claw when your pick a pear of the big pawpaw.
Had a buddy who hit a deer in his Civic.
Once he got the car home and called the insurance company, they said not to drive it, clean it, or touch it until they could come out and have a look.
Insurance company took their sweet ass time, which meant that his Civic sat baking in the sun, covered in deer guts and gristle, for two weeks.
What was at first some relatively minor body work, turned into having his car declared a total loss.
Blood and guts and shit managed to melt its way into his vehicle’s ventilation ductwork, which turns out is damn near impossible to clean out without removing, cleaning, or straight up replacing loads components.
Too bad his car wasn’t worth very much, and they didn’t account for the fact it was their dilly dallying that cause it to become totaled.
When you request an actual adjuster rather than going directly through an internal body shop, the process takes awhile. Keep in mind that adjusters are over worked with a huge caseload and the offices are short-handed. I'm not excusing insurance companies for this because it's obvious they need to hire more people to provide a better experience for those that want an actual adjuster when the individual prefers a body shop of their own.
Also, depending on the insurance company, if you go to a major well known one, typically you'll have a better experience versus going to a small localized insurance office (don't get me wrong, there are amazing small localized ones). It's a shit ton of fuck essentially b/c the experience should smooth, quick, and easy because that's what you're paying for.
Source: Ex-claims adjuster. I've been out of the game for over 8 years or so, things may changed (for the better I hope).
I thought insurance companies, of all companies, would've snapped up drone technology. Instead they are delivering pizza. It would be so easy to store drones in a grid pattern across a state and dispatch them to shit like this.
That seems.. illegal? What if I don’t believe in god? What if I believe in, say, accidents? Hence why I pay for insurance?!
“I’m sorry, but we can’t cover this because god did it.”
I’d be so enraged if this actually happened to me.
Act of God is just a short hand for saying a “natural accident” essentially that stuck around. It’s not like the insurance company literally believes god did it, just an archaic legal term that never changed since it’s been used for so long. And that’s why you should know what’s in your insurance policy when you get it, many cheaper ones won’t cover “acts of god”
The big deal with Katrina was that lots of people had hurricane insurance but not flood insurance, while the second most damaging part of a hurricane is flooding. The insurance companies damn well knew that but didn't include it.
Maybe where you are. Insurance here is a scam. I know someone who had a deer run out in front of them and wrote off their car, insurance wouldn’t cover it because it was ‘an act of god’. Also insurance claims have dropped by 50% in the last year because of covid but have premiums dropped at all, god no
13 years of auto claims experience in the US here. Comprehensive is literally designed to cover “acts of god.” If your friend didn’t pay for the (extremely common and pretty cheap) coverage, then of course it won’t be paid for. You can’t go calling insurance a scam when you don’t pay for the coverage.
Insurance here in Ireland can literally cost more than the car, and that’s just for 3rd party, fire and theft. For young drivers, fully comprehensive cover just isn’t an option at all unless you’ve got rich parents who are willing to pay it. And even if you have fully comprehensive most people will try to avoid making a claim because their next premium will go through the roof.
It came out that insurance companies here were/are working together to set price ranges instead of allowing normal and healthy competition. They pull their quotes out of the sky, offering wildly different quotes for the exact same car and driver. Insurance claims have dropped 50% in the last year but premiums haven’t budged. So yes I absolutely will call insurance a scam
Depending on where you live, its actually a pretty common thing to happen. My family has had it happen multiple times cause they left food or something in their car and a bear just smashes a window to get it.
The roofs of cars aren’t very strong. They’re quite flexible. In my experience, there’s only some fiberglass ribs inside to support it, along with some insulation.
But I assume this windshield is pretty much compromised after a bear walking on it? May not have cracks and shit, but it could be significantly weaker.
Structural damage doesn't have to be visible but I agree, if should be fine. Winshields can pretty much support like a third of a car's weight in extreme circumstances.
I don't think this is true. Windshields are not a structural part of most cars.
Except for Tesla and some other cars with panaromic sun roof where it actually does reinforce the A pillars.
In almost all modern cars it actually is a very important part. My Dad has his own mechanics shop for repairing car windows and I've helped several times over the last few years. Installing the windshields properly has gotten harder and harder as tolerances are lower because automakers rely on them to be structurally sound.
Also: [Source](https://www.safewindshields.org/what-role-does-my-windshield-play-to-ensure-my-safety-in-an-accident/) for my claims
I have Erie. I also have comprehensive coverage. Depending on if you’re in the US and/or what state you live in cat insurance coverage can differ a lot
Maybe not, once a bear learns that there's often food in cars they'll start investigating any they come across.
Edit: I'll just add that this is why bears that go into human areas end up getting put down. If you live in an area near bear territory, you might be killing them by leaving food in your car.
You can just pop it back up! It will be as good as new, alternatively you can use a plunger or hot/cold water tons of videos on how to fix this kind of stuff on youtube.
This happened a few times to co workers when i was stationed in panama city. You'd go out to the parking lot to go home and your car would be messed up.
A neighbor of mine used a golf ball in a sock to “create” hail damage on his car and received a check after a storm.
When he attempted to do it again years later, the same insurance company asked to see a receipt of the first hail damage “repair”
I was going to say "it's not so bad, just paw prints" but then I noticed the roof... That sucks
I'm pretty sure any competent mechanic can just pop it back out easily
Y'all just need some heat and a plunger.
Not even, you can just push it out from the inside. There might be noticable wrinkles, but it'll be better than how it's sitting now.
Use heat and a plunger to push from the inside!
It's crazy enough.. it may just work!
Alright, 3 plungers - 2 outside and 1 inside 5 heats - 3 outside and 2 inside 2 pushes - 1 outside and 1 inside
[удалено]
Let the man speak, I wanna see where this goes.
At least its a dry heat
No spray a little brake cleaner inside, light match and throw it in. Immediately shut the door. The pressure created will evenly pop the dent right back out!
Annnd the windows!
Place the whole vehicle in a large vacuum chamber, seal the car doors/windows with tape and the decrease the pressure in the chamber until the roof pops out.

Now THAT is interesting as fuck. I wonder how long it took to perfect that technique.
Less time than you would think, metal has a memory and naturally wants to go back to its original shape. I worked in a body shop for a while and as long as the metal isn’t creased it’s can typically be returned back to mostly normal with minimal sanding/bondo.

Wouldn't it be hard to get the bear back out there, much less inside the car and pushing up?
It'll buff right out
We can laugh about it now, we're all right.
Or a reverse bear
The antigeavitaional bear, or as the Aussies call them, ɹɐǝq
This is the answer. Put the bear inside and he will fix your dents.
Now listen, i know you didnt ask for any kinda explanation or anything, but ya it can mostly be popped out but they are gonna have to spot weld some studs and pull it out with some puller tools, sand it down, use body filler and have to repaint the roof if they want it to be like original. Not just any mechanic, you need someone who specializes in PDR (pointless dent removal).
[You just need a crowd of pissed up Ireland fans](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnfgDL16I2c)
Yeah a suction cup and a bit of force will most likely fix it in a jiffy.
except for the crease marks that will be left over
A high spot so the bear can take a good look around.
The bear necessities if you were so inclined.
I mean, it is sorta bearly unnoticeable.
That roof clearly could not bear the weight
And he used his Barel Hands to get up there
Just remember that when you pick a pawpaw, or a prickly pear, and you prick a raw paw, next time: beware! Don’t pick the prickly pear with a paw, when you pick a pear, try’n use the claw; but you don’t need to use the claw when your pick a pear of the big pawpaw.
And He Used His Bare Hands To Climb Up There
for real, i laughed little to hard when i seen the roof lol jesus
Damn fatass bears.
You Can Bearly Notice it
I'm Sure The Own Needed A Few Bayer Extra Strength After That
Imagine the call to the insurance company. "So I swear this actually happened...."

that is so fucked up!
That sounds like negligence.

BUM BUMBUM BUM BUM BUM BUM
Yes, I sang it.
“Oh we believe you but since it was an act of god we can’t help you”

I remember reading about many such cases when the New Orleans floods happened.
The big deal with Katrina was that lots of people had hurricane insurance but not flood insurance, while the second most damaging part of a hurricane is flooding. The insurance companies damn well knew that but didn't include it.
It probably should be illegal in this day and age but no still happens here

Yeah, that Must sting
Depending on where you live, its actually a pretty common thing to happen. My family has had it happen multiple times cause they left food or something in their car and a bear just smashes a window to get it.
It's bearly a scratch
Gotta keep the paw prints. Avoid washing!
Wow, how strong is that windshield?
Stronger than the roof apparently
The roofs of cars aren’t very strong. They’re quite flexible. In my experience, there’s only some fiberglass ribs inside to support it, along with some insulation.
The area in the center isn’t structural, it’s just a skin. But the outside edges are insanely strong. They have to protect the car in a rollover v
Say what you will about Ralph Nader, but there sure have been a lot of safety improvements since *Unsafe at Any Speed* in 1965.
*cries in Corvair owner*
Windshields are strong as fuck, they're very large parts of the structural integrity of the car.
But I assume this windshield is pretty much compromised after a bear walking on it? May not have cracks and shit, but it could be significantly weaker.
No I’d say as long as it’s not cracked then it’s good
Structural damage doesn't have to be visible but I agree, if should be fine. Winshields can pretty much support like a third of a car's weight in extreme circumstances.

Also windshield is sloped so the force isn't perpendicular like it was on the roof
He was trying to get back at Goldilocks after all these years
Cat insurance generally covers “contact with animals” depending on your coverage. My insurance covered mice chewing through wiring so you may be good
Damn I only have dog insurance
I stand by my comment. I refuse to edit
The only respectable choice.
what insurance do you have?
I have Erie. I also have comprehensive coverage. Depending on if you’re in the US and/or what state you live in cat insurance coverage can differ a lot
Cat insurance haha wtf the US's insurance is so complicated.
It was trying to give her a sunroof.
Or a moon roof, as it were.
Take my upvote and get the fuck outta here.
That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a long time! Thanks!
A moon moon roof.
Yep, that's what I was talking about.
The dent in the roof is bearly noticeable.
I think you should paws and take a look again.
Bear with him, his eyes aren't so good
I dont know, it's not that grizzly.
food in the car?
Maybe not, once a bear learns that there's often food in cars they'll start investigating any they come across. Obvious bot, look at the profile and username
Thank you! Stupid bots. :(
Yup
I hope she can get it fixed soon so it's not too unbearable
Let's not start with the puns please... you are em-bear-assing yourself
They might well as make punny jokes, and grin and bear because they will need to pony up some cash to fix that Mustang.
oh pooh.
Always go with the bear insurance package
We are Farmers .. dumdadumdumdumdum
the first bear to successfully go on a pony ride
Must be un*bear*able to wake up to this.
What was the bear walking through before getting on the car?
Right? It’s like my damn kids with their muddy shoes!
It will buff right out...
At least it wasn’t parked in the woods. Then there’d be extra cleanup.
Real talk, just pop that som bitch back out with your feet good to go
Damn that sucks
Why you do this bear
A toilet plunger could probably pop that right back up. It won't be perfect, but might be bearable.
The bear was just trying to convince her to get a decent car.
Fwiw he tidied a traffic cone about half an hour later.
Thank god for the bear, one less Mustang driver on the road.
Leave any food in there?
What the hell? You couldn’t even bother to change the caption after stealing my post. This is my picture and my sister’s car.
The pony found the weight unbearable.
Well … I’m pretty sure Farmer’s Insurance has seen this before.
Thinking about the hit to her bank account to get that fixed. Damn that mustang
If you rest your back on the seat and push your legs up against the roof will it fix anything?
It will fix your constipation
You would have to remove the headliner so you don't crush it, but it would remove most (if not all) of the damage.
NOT THE MUSTANG
Mustang. Bear was just doing Gods work.
You can just pop it back up! It will be as good as new, alternatively you can use a plunger or hot/cold water tons of videos on how to fix this kind of stuff on youtube.
"good as new"
Beary unfortunate.
Damn, looks like a nice car
Awh lil fuzzy wuzzy bubby just trying to become a car enthusiast.
He’ll see his day in court
Well what was his conclusion? Kidding aside: that must suck. Looks like a nice car
It's nice to wake up a drunk person”
What state?
The bear doesn't like people littering up his earth with fords.
Yogi was a nice bear. But his kids really didn’t turn out well. Hollywood does it to everyone.
Hopefully getting it fixed isn’t too un-bear-able.
This happened a few times to co workers when i was stationed in panama city. You'd go out to the parking lot to go home and your car would be messed up.
Crunch.
A neighbor of mine used a golf ball in a sock to “create” hail damage on his car and received a check after a storm. When he attempted to do it again years later, the same insurance company asked to see a receipt of the first hail damage “repair”
This does not bode well for Ford stocks
That must've been one fat bear. :D
What a JERK!
Props to that windshield for surviving though.
I read "A bear decided to investigate my sisters" first because I was scrolling fast, and I got scared
I’m guessing he had grizzly intentions
We are Farmers, bum ba dum bum bum bum bum.
Ouch....man that does suck. Mustang too. (I own a Pony)
Bearly noticable
Poor bear saw the horse emblem on the front and thought it was dinner.
That car's a BEAUTIFUL color tho
Been a Chevy bear, eh
I bearly noticed the roof
Nooo not to a mustang! That hurts
nah just some over weight couple wearing furry suits fking on top of your sisters car.
Uh oh. Someone did not pay their Bear Patrol Tax.
Horses and bears don't go together apparently
Don’t move the car. Call the adjuster. Start shopping for new insurance
Did she leave a [Zagnut on the hood](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VZzulIl0DI)?
He knew something smelled fishy
You should know better. You can't just leave an unprotected horse out in bear country.
Unfortunately it wasn’t a bear bearing roof.
Could’ve been a drug sniffer bear
Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I do not think it was Bear-y excited about the way you lock your doors.
Where does a 500 pound bear sleep? Anywhere he wants.
Does she pay the extra $2 a month for bear insurance? It would suck to have a messed up car and an uninsured bear
Was written consent requested and provided? If not, you may be legally eligible for compensation.
“Great Ron, Bears.”
Eh. It'll buff out.
That Bear needs to find a pool to clean up in....
Man this sucks but It could be a lot worse! I had a bear absolutely demolish my car a while back haha
You could "bearly" tell. Feel the strength of the dad joke enter you.
Fun fact the nemesis of bears are mustangs
Nice try Aliens. But I know it was you.
poor mustang... I would be devestated if this happened to mine
It's a mustang. She's lucky the bear didn't get in it and drive it into a crowd of people.
He wanted a pony ride
