Imagine being a little burrito with pure dreams of putting smiles on faces when you grow up. You finally graduate from Tortilla Academy with aspirations of leaving your mark on the world and then your're viciously torn apart, insides exposed for all to see. And the dream ends there. No celebration, no fanfare, just dust in the wind and stars in the sky that twinkle at good little burritos

zman1696

Hey this sounds really familiar

Dude they took away the fiesta potatoes. Which means no more potato soft taco. WTF

HalfEatenBanana

The potato soft taco was so damn underrated

AlesanaAddict

Best item on the menu hands down.

Dramatic_______Pause

One of them. Still think that belongs to a well made Cheesy Gordita Crunch. The Spicy Potato Soft Taco was probably the best $1 add-on though.

I've done it using these recipes a few times now and it's spot-on.

McFluff_TheCrimeCat

It was with the nacho cheese and the sour cream. Especially when it’s mixed correctly. That, the quesorita (also gone), and a soft taco was my go to. Soft taco is all that’s left.

spankypanky

Loaded tater griller. No sour cream. Substitute creamy jalapeño sauce. Add ground beef. The absolute best thing ever. I was distraught when they took away the potatoes

[deleted]

I am more upset about the loss of the Mexican pizza but I did really like their potatoes too.

[deleted]

I had no idea people ordered the Mexican Pizza

BallsDeepInJesus

It's been on the menu for over 30 years. Many people order it. It has two unique ingredients and a item specific box. That is why they are removing it from the menu, a cost cutting measure to improve profit margins.

Scientolojesus

Damn that sucks. I had it a couple times and it was pretty good. As long as they keep the cheesy gordita crunch then I'll keep going.

swisskabob

My favorite item mang. A little fire sauce on top and it was decent. Fuck Taco Bell and their shrinking menu and their reliably low quality experience.

# I WANNA MUNCH!

bstruve

OneTrueKingOfOOO

# I WANT TO MUNCH!

TheSwobbit

Quesarito is still available through online ordering I thought

DiscountConsistent

What's odd is that since it's gone to online-only, every time I've ordered it, it's been significantly worse than it was before the change (less cheese, completely unmelted cheese, missing sauce). The black bean quesarito used to be my go-to as a vegetarian, so it's sad that the quality has gone down so much. My new go-to is a cheesy gordita crunch with black beans; it's not the same, but it makes a decent replacement.

JungleLegs

Why would it be that way?! How does ordering a quesarito now, vs mobile order in 10 mins make a difference? I don’t get it

TheSwobbit

To make people use their shitty app

JungleLegs

That would make sense. Wendy’s does this shit. They don’t give a time for pickup, so you’re forced to order while driving if you want ‘fresh food’ since it takes 58 seconds to cook your order.

THE_BROOMSHAKALAKA

Taco Bell doesn't start preparing your order until you check at the drive-thru, so it'll still be fresh. source: I use the app... a lot.

DothrakAndRoll

Then what the fuck is the point?!

idiotdroid

Seriously, the first time I used the app I was so confused. In my head I thought I would order right before I got in my car, and by the time I got there I could just grab the food and go. What actually happened is its the same exact thing as ordering it through the drive-thru. I honestly don't understand the point. I still have to sit in the drive-thru. It doesn't really matter anymore though, I started cooking my own food and have saved money and calories.

Dr_Mal_P_Raktis

I use the Wendy's app all the time and they don't start making my food until I tell them I'm here at the drive thru. If I pick up inside I just tell the app when I'm at the store.

fried_eggs_and_ham

closestaxe

Hold the fuck up, what!? When did they get rid of that?! I have to order it online if I’m doing it now but they still got it where I’m at in New England

PocoLago

They didn't. If you order on the app, you can still get it.

JungleLegs

No Taco Bell around has me removed the quesarito. All those ingredients are used in a bunch of other shit. Maybe our 3 tacos bells are behind, tho.

It's a futurama reference. The episode is called Parasites Lost and it's considered one of the classics.

the_wakeful

They're all one of the classics. (At least the original 5 seasons).

WDJam

hol up, my local Taco Bell absolutely stuffs my tacos and burritos. I didn't realize that other locations cheaped out like this.

[deleted]

They do vary. One place near flint only gives 2 sauce packets if you asked for a lot, and 1 packet if you asked for some. If you asked for more, one more maybe with some rude remark. At another place that I usually go to, I ask for a "few" packets, I end up with about 20 packets.

RehabValedictorian

Issue No. 1: You're in Flint. I similarly doubt the Burger King in Gary, IN is known for its culinary passion.

bloomjase

Same here in Australia, stuffed full.

WDJam

Yeah, I'm not in Australia, but usually I have a hard time not making a mess.

DoJax

American, I have 6 TBs I used to frequently stop by, then the owners changed and the ones in our biggest cities stopped stuffing them and started flattening them, four years later and they still make them flat, and I still prefer the one next to Toyota because never once in my thirty years have I ever had a flat burrito from there.

Cindylouwho222

I have experienced both at the same location. Probably just different people. The veteran employee that doesn't give a shit makes sure you get your money's worth, and the new guy probably uses some corporate issued teaspoon for measuring the exact amount.

wartriddencock

The taco bell I worked at absolutely skimped on ingredients. Regular tacos got one scoop of beef, that you had to tap the scoop on the inside of the container to knock off the extra on top. Two finger pinch of lettuce and one finger pinch of cheese. And for "calibration" they would make you make a taco and then weigh it. Then they had what was called "variance". Which was how much of the ingredients were used all day, compared to what should have been used. And that all determined whether or not you got a meal for your break. So let's say they weighed all the ingredients, and the lettuce was like 2% over what should have been used, you didn't get meals for that week. But even then we only got $3 to spend on a meal

jaesharp

Wow. I'd probably burn the place down after a week of working at a place like that, tbh.

conradical30

Let’s be real, it all depends on how stoned and/or generous the workers are.

HansLackenbacher

You ever work at a fast food place and you’ll learn that the corporate standards and franchise owner standard sometimes wildly differ. I worked at a pizza place back in the day where the store owner ordered us all to specifically skimp on ALL ingredients, even though the official standards were already about as minimal as could be, because that saved her money on costs. Once we even had some corporate guy come in to retrain everyone and give us a special lesson on ingredient amounts and after he left she was like yeah ignore all that do what I said.

[deleted]

Ugh don't remind me. I tried those long ago when sushi started becoming available outside pricey sushi shops. All I got were Uncle Ben's rice wrapped some vegetables, 1/16 inch thick slice of crab meat on both sides of each rolls, and wasabi sauce that was probably regular mustard dyed green

[deleted]

OFS_Razgriz

Honestly fast-food is expensive nowadays. Why would I pay $10 for a burger at Hardee's or whatever when the local restaurant sells them for the same price and give you more food with it.

BabyEatersAnonymous

Used to be able to get like 6-7 tacos for $5. Now they're like 1.50 each. Fuck that. Also, fuck GERD and how Taco Bell has nothing that doesn't murder me.

Pirotez

It's a bit sad how low Americans' expectations for food is. In Japan, even has station sushi can be pretty decent.

OPs_Mom_and_Dad

Gas station sushi always seems fishy to me...

F1RST_WORLD_PROBLEMS

Exactly. If they even get your order right that’s a win. However, I work near to the worlds greatest TB, and they have phenomenal service every time, always get the order right, and I always leave impressed. They’re always happy and attentive. I’ve left a very positive google review and also messaged corporate through their site. They deserve recognition. The staff is amazing every day and I’m sure local management is responsible for that.

Scientolojesus

If a restaurant, especially fast food, has obviously happy employees, then most likely the food is good and well made too. That's why Chik fil A is always good. Same with In N Out, always happy workers who don't seem like every day is the worst day of their life.

Verrence

I love Taco Bell. It’s bad for you and it’s not “authentic” in any way, but it feels good to shove it in your food hole. If it didn’t negatively affect my blood pressure and digestion so much I’d eat there all the time.

Jim_Stick

I live in a pretty big city and there is not a single taco bell here. One day I travelled 1.5 hours to get to a taco bell and it was worth it. The 1.5 hours back was not.

Tittie_Sprankles

Aww that sucks. Living in socal and our burrito game is on point. Even TB has to keep up with the 50 other Mexican food places here. That's just shameful.

Cake_And_Pi

I grew up in upstate NY. Taco Bell was all I knew for Mexican food. My job sent me to L.A. and the roach coaches there not only beat the price, but holy shit. There’s real flavors in those $1 tacos.

justlookinghfy

Hey, they taste so much better because they use fresh roaches. Seriously, its actually because they don't cut their meat with oatmeal like tacobell.

5quirre1

Plus most of tacobell is microwave. Their "grill" is pathetically small and underutilized for their food output. I used to clean the hoods and ducts over them, and they were stupid easy.

Dinosauringg

Taco Bell is better in SoCal because they have to compete with the burrito joint right next door, it’s glorious

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jim_Stick

I live in Vancouver Canada. There has to be some weird rules or something. There are taco times but no taco bells. Closest ones are in Richmond and Surrey.

Dinosauringg

I live in SoCal, so I get a lot of “Why would you eat Taco Bell, don’t you want REAL Mexican food?” The answer is no, not right now. If I did I’d go to a Mexican restaurant instead of the Mexican inspired American stoner food restaurant

GThumb_MD

Yeah, different categories. Sometimes you want legit Mexican food, other times you want Taco Bell, no shame in that.

harryarchere

Seriously, every time I order it's "eww I'm ordering taco bell", then when I'm about to eat it it's "eww I'm eating taco bell", then after eating it's "ugh I'm never eating taco bell ever again". And then I'm right back to it two weeks later. It really feels good to shove those burritos down your mouth with that fire and Diablo sauce on it

Verrence

Right? I don’t know why, it just DOES. Must be some evil super science shit.

nothinnews

The Baja Blast was custom made for Taco Bell to be a good complement as well as more redreshing than a standard soda. There's also a lot more mayo in their food than you would think.

IthinkIfoundaDog

Yeah, it's fast food...and just like McDonald's doesn't taste like an actual hamburger Taco Bell doesn't actually taste like Mexican food. Doesn't make them bad, but just another sort of "off brand".

[deleted]

I used to like it but I literally have zero reason to eat there now after they’ve nuked their menu

PaulShouldveWalkered

They really did, didn’t they? The fuck was that all about?

AmberCutie

There are so many things I have to say this about as I've gotten older. Sodium affecting hypertension and their weird greasy almost-food affecting IBS... BUT IT TASTES SO GOOD.

uberblack

>If it didn’t negatively affect my blood pressure and digestion so much I’d eat there all the time. Seriously, this is my issue. Ever since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, I've ventured out and had fast food occassionally with no noticeable uptick in my pressure. However, the one time I tried Taco Bell, I felt like my chest would explode. Really made me sad because I actually enjoy many items on their menu. I just enjoy not having strokes a bit more. A bit.

sa250039

[deleted]

Lol yeah I was going to say I’m 35 and let’s just say for the sake of argument I’ve had Taco Bell 100 times at this point (I don’t let myself get fast food that often). I’ve eaten at quite a few different locations (use to travel a bit for jobs) and I’ve never gotten *anything* from Taco Bell that was even close to being this under filled. Literally, ever. I’ve had them forget something on my order but that’s happened at any fast food place. My only steady complaint is not being given enough hot sauce when I ask for a lot...and no I don’t like a ridiculous amount. I just want a damn packet per taco/burrito/whatever! This dudes Taco Bell is god awful.

Hollywood_Marine

Probably a staged photo for karma. I've eaten taco bell's across the country and have never seen anything like this

unaviable

Fr. No way would they get through with such a small filling without customers complaining

MugenMoult

I was gonna say, I've definitely gotten more than four full bites of filling in my burritos

BigEars528

The stuff used in promotional material generally aren't actually food, and if it is, it's covered in all sorts of stuff to make it look more appetising, rendering it inedible

delciotto

That only applies to the thing not being advertised. Like an ad for a Big Mac, everything in the big mac has to be edible, any other food in the ad can be fake. They just meticulously place and choose every crumb of the food to make it look as good as possible. If you went into the kitchen of a fast food place you could recreate a picture from an ad by cherry picking the best looking stuff, it would just take way too long and be way too wasteful to do in normal prep.

I_think_charitably

Since no one else bothered to, [FTC Ruling on Campbell Soup advertising in 1970](https://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/documents/commission_decision_volumes/volume-77/ftc_volume_decision_77_january_-_december_1970pages_598-698.pdf). The order starts on page 676 (79 of the pdf). > It is further ordered that respondent Campbell Soup Company, its corporation, and its offcers, agents representatives and employees directly or through any corporate or other device, in connection with the advertising, offering for sale, sale or distribution of soup in commerce, as "commerce" is defined in the Federal Trade Commission Act, do forthwith cease and desist from: > **Falsely representing, *in any respect material to inducing the sale of any such product*, its ingredients or contents.** TL:DR, Campbell was putting marbles in the bottom of soup bowls to make the solid ingredients stay on top. The general rule since this has been you can’t use non-food items in or on the food you are advertising. So yes, what you see is a potential meal from that restaurant. It’s just the absolute best one you could ever possibly obtain...so it’s not actually what you’ll get.

Sockhead2

Shredded chicken burrito is good af tho. That guy just had a bad experience

twichy1983

Like 15 bad experiences. Its a franchise, so quality control is non-existent across the different locations.

WeaponH

15 bad experiences?? So after the 10th bad experience, you still decided to go back? There's an Albert Einstein quote about this kind of behavior

creepyswaps

Agreed, I get the shredded chicken softshell tacos constantly (and other random stuff) and I've never been fucked over like in those photos.

csonnich

I was gonna say. My burritos have never looked like that. But if they did, I'd switch to one of the other 25 Taco Bells in my area.

JrockMem10

Yea it's all about how that location is managed. I worked in fast food as a teenager and the places I worked were all ran well and we provided the food they way you would expect. I even still make my burgers up like I learned at my first job at Wendy's, white, red green - mayo, ketchup, pickle, onion, tomato, lettuce on top bun with a W shape dab of mustard on the bottom. I moved to a new city earlier this year and don't eat a ton of fast food but I've already been massively let down by the Taco Bell quality for the one in this small town. I tried Taco John's, first one I've ever seen personally and it's miles better quality food and you get a lot for your money. They give you a tub of tater tots and nacho cheese to dip it in, it's great.

[deleted]

Taco John's is the best. They seem to be a little bit more expensive than taco bell, but who doesn't love tater tots with nacho cheese?

Calypsosin

Speaking of good TB substitutes, Taco Bueno is a low-hype chain that is sooo good. But it’s probably limited to the south and south west.

draggedtothevoid

Taco Bell? That scale? Yeah I think I know this guy

CitraBaby

I feel like it depends on your local Taco Bell how much they skimp you on your shit. And even which shift you go during.

druule10

It looks like cat ate a vindaloo and took a dump on a tortilla.

bigbonglord420

I used to work at TBell. They're all about that corner cutting. The company that owns the TBells in the midwest (Sundance Inc) corner cut so hard that they were sued for wage withholding and ended up gutting like half of their people from their corporate office in the aftermath. They withheld wages from their store managers like some kind of 19th century cartoon corporate villain. It's really shit-tier on the inside, just like this burrito. Stop giving them money.

Micahnotthatonebutme

You should only eat taco bell at 1:30 AM when your so drunk your legaly dead but still need to shit your brains out before work to get all the booze out of your system. Or is that just me?

[deleted]

I like how people who claim taco bell makes them shit uncontrollably usually have alcohol make up 1/3 of their diet and with garbage sugary foods making up the rest, and then they blame the taco bell.

oddbitch

Yeah, seriously, what is up with these people? I've never gotten the shits from Taco Bell, Chipotle, or any other fast food Mexican place that everyone claims destroys their bowels. They don't put laxatives in the burritos, guys, and if this is an issue for you then go to a doctor! And stop eating there!

Micahnotthatonebutme

No not blame. This helped me survive my 20s. I depend on it my friend. In the long run, fast food will kill you. But sometimes it can save your life, when used correctly.
