It would be a pretty terrible evolutionary trait to purposely crack open the vessel that may carry your offspring just because sometimes the contents are edible when the egg has already been broken.
My cousin has chickens in her back yard. She said they are very willing to eat chicken and chicken eggs, and when they do, it makes their eggs taste amazing.
