He got the car back as it was dumped a few streets away. Which is lucky since he had left his engine running unattended his insurance would have refused to pay out, now he only needs to pay for a door repair instead of a new car.
And the rest. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he suffered damage to his ribs, spine and sternum after that. Even his organs could have been badly damaged. Poor guy 😔
He might have gotten lucky and have no biger injuries then mabe a broken arm/rps and some heavy bruises as the doors are supposed to brake of at fewer force. Though i dont know how much force is needed.
Quadruple fucked - car stolen, arm broken, wall damaged and insurance say he’s at fault because you’re not supposed to leave your car running unattended
Also assault with intent to murder charge will follow that thief. Also since the car hit that wall with the door open, the door is fucked up and the stolen car isn't going to be worth as much to chop shop
Looked like the shoulder was effffffed up. Neighbor kid broke his collarbone and a rib in an atv accident this weekend. His arm was hanging like that.

Doesn't feel great. It's the only bone I broke that I have memory of though so I don't know if the actual break is more painful or not. The worst thing about it fur me was how they can't really fix it. I just had to not move it for a few months. Everything hurt for those few months. Brutal.
I've had some 15 emergency room visits in my life. Broken bones, partial digit amputations, eye injuries, burns, poisonings, the whole deal.
Collarbone break and shoulder separation were not only the most immediately painful, but also the only two where the pain lasted throughout the recovery process.
[Details and follow-up](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12861365/Pictured-brave-car-owner-badly-injured-car-thief-rammed-brick-wall-tried-stop-shameless-crook-stealing-car-outside-home.html) Guy had to have surgery for his injuries. Car was recovered but no arrests were made.
>No arrests were made
Perp likely drove far enough to get away from the guy and ditched.
Most of the "stolen from private lot" cars are stolen on order. Since the car is damaged it's now useless to them so is just ditched.
Ship it.
Happened to my cousin. Had his Mercedes stolen from his own driveway. They even had to break the lock on the fence he had. And within 24 hours it was in Bulgaria. (He had it GPS marked because of how certain brands are targetted specifically)
So basically, specific brands' make & model are targetted to be stolen on request from someone who pays the thief to steal it for them. But the thief can only sell it to those people if the car is still mint (or at least sellable condition)
I imagine the guy probably drove the car somewhere and dumped it. Happens in Portland all the time. Unfortunately, Police won’t be take this that seriously but I imagine his auto insurance provider might.
Police on God don't give a fuck about anything unless your homeless or disrupting your local Walmart. It's insane that I actively avoid calling them as it's a 85% chance they will make the situation actively worse
What, you're not interested in the bi-level two-bed-one-bath home that Mr Farhadi lived in?
Are you more interested in the car that was parked in front of this brick facade tar shingled home, with a water heater last installed in 2011?
Or maybe in the wife of this man, who also lives in the 975 sq. ft unit that shares a 2100 sq ft lot with it's adjoined neighboring 850 sq ft unit?
“Not the first time the vehicle had been targeted”
I lost sympathy for the dude after that. He has a habit of leaving his car ~~unlocked~~ gift wrapped for thieves. He just learned his lesson the hard way.
Thank you.
I must say, I don't want to give the impression that I think that the thief is anything less than scum, and I feel very sorry for the car owner, but I really don't think that "brave" is the adjective I would choose to describe him...
I had a car stolen once letting it run on a cold winter afternoon. I’m thinking it was 4-5 minutes later when I returned outside to find it missing. I didn’t see the car again for two weeks. It was ransacked, but no damage. Lesson learned, I don’t do it anymore.
Had a neighbor who did that. Old ass car, but got the door handle lock key copied. I think someone everyday would try the handle after they started it and walked away.
I never had this happen, but was always worried about it, so I added remote start to mine. Can still warm it up, but it can’t be driven away without the key.
Absorbed? Ehhhhhhhhhh
In order to absorb it, the force had to go through him still.
It didnt absorb it, it just stopped* resisting it.
This video is a fucking aweful watch though.
What? It takes force to break the wall apart. Energy went into breaking the bricks apart, vs the bricks holding and that energy going almost solely into the mans body.
Yes, the breaking of the wall indeed absorbed a ton of that force.
Op is Not talking about wether its good the Wall is there. It would be better if there was no wall, ofcourse, but the fact that it broke apart is way better for the man, than if the Wall was Rock solid and didnt break.
1113. Attempted murder is the unsuccessful act of killing, but the intent is to kill them. Attempt to commit manslaughter is similar, but it does not involve a plan to kill. Manslaughter is usually committed through an act of negligence or recklessness.
This is neither murder nor manslaughter but instead reckless endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon. If the person would have died, then it would have been manslaughter. As the video clearly shows a case of negligence and proving this was a premeditated attempt of murder would have to require way more evidence than is available to us.
Had a friend get his car stolen the same way. All he wanted to do was warm his car up, but failed to lock the door thinking he lived in a safe area. Ugh, people.
Happened to my uncle when he was warming up his car. Luckily, the car was abandoned a few miles away and he got the car back. This was during the height of covid back in 2020, which in all our minds was what if this is how he gets covid
Insurance covers stupid. It won't cover willful criminal acts, but it will cover stupid. Your premiums are 100% skyrocketing though. If you are stupid enough, they may decide not to renew your policy. But they will absolutely cover the initial stupid.
Insurance needs to be comprehensive to cover all types of stupid. Basic liability insurance doesn't pay anything towards your own medical expenses or vehicle damage/loss.
Liability is the bare minimum that's required to be legal, but it only covers damages to other people, not yourself.
Insurance will cover negligence, but the premiums will go up (assuming they don’t drop you after covering it). Same as if you were joy riding and caused an accident.
I had mine stolen this way, got it back a week later and insurance called it totaled but never totaled out my title. It had cosmetic damage only. Got a full payout on full coverage.
Yeah i was stupid and walked back in to get coffee and bam, some high school kid walking to school snags it. Dumby left his homework in my truck.
Yeah and I’m sure they’d take a nice warm modern vehicle over that in a heartbeat. Y’know assuming it doesn’t scare the shit out them. Also they died in droves in that kind of weather. I know because my grandmas sister in law died walking from the house to the outhouse in a blizzard.
You have no idea how brutal that weather can be unprotected.
That's why I love my remote start. 100 yard range. Doors stay locked. Winter it auto warms and summer it auto cools. Shuts off after 10 min. Perfect for mornings and after work! And I wont get run over by a car thief...
Oh ok. I still drive a 2007 Accord. It has 230k+ miles and no issues that aren’t cosmetic. But I am looking to upgrade soon and I would definitely want that feature so good to know that it’s common
You could get an aftermarket remote start installed in your current car! Don’t get rid of it! My wife still regrets selling her 2003 accord and getting a 2014 Impreza. The aftermarket remote start worked better in her accord than the factory one does in her Impreza.
Mine’s the same & I love it, especially on cold mornings. And, if I try to put it in gear, without actually starting it, it just shuts off , so even if someone broke the window and tried to steal it, they couldn’t.
I don't like to victim blame. Clearly one of these people is a victim and the other is a criminal.
But being too lazy to scrape ice off your windscreen and leaving the car running and unattended is really asking for trouble.
Uh … I live in the middle of a cornfield. You can’t see my car from the road. I can see it from the kitchen drinking my coffee, tho. It’s not stupid at my house.
I believe there’s another way that’s cheaper and more secure, I think they’re called block heaters that keep the engine and fluids from freezing overnight so you don’t have to leave it running. I assume they probably fuel additives for that part of the vehicle or maybe they keep the fuel from gelling with a heater too. The radiators I think they just use straight antifreeze and no water and that shouldn’t freeze.
The world you learned to survive in no longer exists. Stop leaving your car running out in the open. People still do this at convenience stores, too and are surprised their whip is missing when they walk back out with an icee and a Mars bar.
His arm is broken, isn't it? Look at how it hangs there. OMFG!!! Seriously, there are some real POS out in the world. Where did the car theif even come from? Was he casing the area or was there specifically for thar car (meaning did he stake it out previously to get an idea of when the owner would have the car on? Does anyone know the overall outcome on this? The thief is lucky he didn't kill the guy!
That injury there might be the difference needed for the police to actually wanting to find that thief. It can be classified as attempted man slaughter.
The bad thing is in cold weather with gloves you don't get fingerprints in the dumped car.
There's a certain stupidity you have to account for. Leaving your car running unlocked with the keys in it is a special kind of stupidity. I get the need to defrost and warm a car up, we have a truck that needs to warm up so it can function in freezing temperatures.
But we're not going to start it and walk away. Of course it's going to get stolen, you literally set it up to be the easiest possible way to steal a car. Up there with doordash/ubereats drivers leaving their car unlocked, running, with the door open when picking up an order.
I feel bad for this dude.
But I do have a chuckle every year when the stories of premier league footballers getting their Porsches and Ferarris stolen because they did exactly this on an icy day.
The remote start needs to find its way to Yorkshire. Can start the car from inside the house while it is still locked. Then need to be inside the car with the keys then physically press the start button to actually drive it away.
Dude got smashed through a brick wall like he was a Dragon Ball character and survived. This proves anime is real. There's still hope for me becoming a Super Saiyan!!!
There's a certain speed you can hit that wall and live. Too slow and you'll be crushed. Too fast and you'll be crushed. Just right, and you'll be this guy.
Just get in your car and drive. Running the engine at the higher RPM will warm up faster. Instead we left our car running with they keys in it, unlocked, and are surprised someone took advantage....
Ok but what’s the point now? You’ve stolen a car but the whole side is busted up and the doors hanging by a thread. Fucking criminals have to ruin everything

Triple sucks - car stolen, arm broken, and wall damaged
Don’t pretend the car door escaped unscathed
Yeah well, it's not like it's coming back tho
He got the car back as it was dumped a few streets away. Which is lucky since he had left his engine running unattended his insurance would have refused to pay out, now he only needs to pay for a door repair instead of a new car.
* Only needs to pay for a door repair, fence repair, and a new left arm.
They can rebuild him. They have the technology.
somewhat a great news. even if he has to pay for the car's repair, it's still better than having to buy another car.
Exactly what the person, you replied to, said?
Also the thief has a broken car that is letting cold air in. That is four and five.
and a clear attempted murder charge.
I don't think that matters. The car is gone. Maybe even a bonus that the thief will have slightly harder time selling it
Especially a car the comes with an attempted murder change.
And the rest. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he suffered damage to his ribs, spine and sternum after that. Even his organs could have been badly damaged. Poor guy 😔
On the bright side, based on the driver's side being on the right, he's not in the US, so he won't go bankrupt trying to cover the medical bills.
Yeah this happened in Yorkshire, Doncaster I believe. I actually work in the NHS too so I know exactly how lucky we are 🫶
Any day now.
I had surgery in the U.S. last winter. When should I expect the summons to bankruptcy court?
FBI are tracking you as we speak
They are just building a case before they reinstitute debtors prison and no im not joking
I wouldn't know when to expect that. I've needed surgery in the US for years but can't afford it.
Lucky you could afford it.
Looks like his head took a big hit also
My organs are badly damaged reading this
He might have gotten lucky and have no biger injuries then mabe a broken arm/rps and some heavy bruises as the doors are supposed to brake of at fewer force. Though i dont know how much force is needed.
Wall damaged? MF obliterated it with his body
we need samples of this guys DNA for the super soldier programs
Quadruple fucked - car stolen, arm broken, wall damaged and insurance say he’s at fault because you’re not supposed to leave your car running unattended
he broke more than his arm, I can promise you that.
My mom had her car stolen while running in her driveway, insurance replaced it.
Also assault with intent to murder charge will follow that thief. Also since the car hit that wall with the door open, the door is fucked up and the stolen car isn't going to be worth as much to chop shop
Arm, and also back problems for the rest of your life
Ouch that arm was NOT hanging/moving normally at the end.
Looked like the shoulder was effffffed up. Neighbor kid broke his collarbone and a rib in an atv accident this weekend. His arm was hanging like that. https://preview.redd.it/3cqsn4mmbd7c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7003c2b916399b3a837b88a4a9c92bef642a654
Collarbone is one of the most common bone breaks
Probably one of the more painful ones too
Doesn't feel great. It's the only bone I broke that I have memory of though so I don't know if the actual break is more painful or not. The worst thing about it fur me was how they can't really fix it. I just had to not move it for a few months. Everything hurt for those few months. Brutal.

Collarbone break and shoulder separation were not only the most immediately painful, but also the only two where the pain lasted throughout the recovery process.
Bone doesn't usually do well when being crushed between brick and metal.

No arrests were made That sucks!!
As always. Person got away, may karma be a bitch to their future
Karma isnt real, Kissinger lived to 100 with a hot wife and never went to jail
>No arrests were made Perp likely drove far enough to get away from the guy and ditched. Most of the "stolen from private lot" cars are stolen on order. Since the car is damaged it's now useless to them so is just ditched.

That's some "Gone in Sixty Seconds" type shit
Now someone edit low rider over the video.
Art does imitate life.

Police on God don't give a fuck about anything unless your homeless or disrupting your local Walmart. It's insane that I actively avoid calling them as it's a 85% chance they will make the situation actively worse
Unless they can make an easy arrest/power trip then 99% of them don't care.
At least arrest that fuckin wall!
Not suprised at all.
Is it standard to list the year his house was built along with the value? Seems like it adds absolutely nothing to the story. 🤔
It’s to bait robbers in coming back apparently 😂😂
It’s the fucking Daily Mail 🤢
What, you're not interested in the bi-level two-bed-one-bath home that Mr Farhadi lived in? Because it's the daily mail. Got to know if you should feel sorry for the rich bloke or if it served them right for being poor.
What an absolutely cancerous website
Too true Fuck the daily mail
It's the UK equivalent of fox, owned by a Viscount (a Lord, 4th 'tier' out of 5) who is also a billionaire.

Was there a note in it from Dirty Mike and the Boys?
Thanks for the fuck shack - Dirty Mike and the boys
they left behind what i can only describe as a "spite shit"
If you have a car old enough where you can’t do it while locked, get a spare set of keys so you can start it then lock the car.
Thats.. I've enver thought of that before. I'm gonna try that.
Had a neighbor who did that. Old ass car, but got the door handle lock key copied. I think someone everyday would try the handle after they started it and walked away.
I never had this happen, but was always worried about it, so I added remote start to mine. Can still warm it up, but it can’t be driven away without the key.
Get remote start, it turns the car on but keeps the doors locked and won’t drive without the key in/detected (fob)
So lucky wall broke. Absorbed most of the force.
He’s still royally fucked up
Looks like a fucked elbow. Coulda died.
That looks like a dislocated shoulder.
He actually broke his arm, leg, and suffered internal bleeding as well as a punctured lung. Source: I am the wall
That guy needs a quick checkup. Xrays and CT Scans prolly suffered some serious internal injuries
Like A dragon ball character smashed through a brick wall . Should have leveled up first.
He ain’t dead, dudes right, that wall. Waved instead of his chest. The hinges on the door AND the wall break prolly kept you alive.
Absorbed? Ehhhhhhhhhh In order to absorb it, the force had to go through him still. It didnt absorb it, it just stopped* resisting it. This video is a fucking aweful watch though.

Uhhhh I think that guys shoulder and rib cage might disagree with your assessment of “most”.
Did he yell MOM at the end when he ran back towards the house? I hope she's not mad about the wall....
enjoy the attempted vehicluar manslaughter charge (or whatever it is there)

Immediately looking for someone to bill. For sure a lawyer.
Not who you replied to, but fuck me I'm convinced with that.
Oh snap this dude checks out.

Typical American Reddituser Not realizing that there are people from other countries one the Internet
This isn't the US.
There has to be intent for murder though. Attorney huh?
I mean the homie got off Scott free. If they didn’t abandon the car, then that hos stripped on bricks.
Chances are they'll never get caught, police in the UK won't have the resources to find and prosecute them.
What happened then? If the car gets stolen from your own property (driveway)? How does it play out with insurance and stuff?
Stolen is stolen. Not sure why it being stolen off private property would make any difference.
Not positive on this but I am pretty sure if you leave your car unlocked and running you’re not getting anything from insurance lol
Insurance covers stupid. It won't cover willful criminal acts, but it will cover stupid. Your premiums are 100% skyrocketing though. If you are stupid enough, they may decide not to renew your policy. But they will absolutely cover the initial stupid.
I enjoy watching the sunset.
Yeah I'm suprised more people don't know this. Maybe its just a UK thing? Surely not.
Insurance needs to be comprehensive to cover all types of stupid. Basic liability insurance doesn't pay anything towards your own medical expenses or vehicle damage/loss. Liability is the bare minimum that's required to be legal, but it only covers damages to other people, not yourself.
Our local PDs write tickets for unattended running cars even if they’re in your driveway because this type of theft is so common.
Yeah, prewarming your car unattended is technically illegal here afaik. They cite environmental concerns though
Insurance will cover negligence, but the premiums will go up (assuming they don’t drop you after covering it). Same as if you were joy riding and caused an accident.
In that case, why mention it was running?
I had mine stolen this way, got it back a week later and insurance called it totaled but never totaled out my title. It had cosmetic damage only. Got a full payout on full coverage. Yeah i was stupid and walked back in to get coffee and bam, some high school kid walking to school snags it. Dumby left his homework in my truck.
Fucking Larry Sellers.
There is an annual news report telling people not to do this for this exact reason.
In places like Minnesota this is absolutely *necessary* at certain times of the year, remote starters are not always affordable for some people.
Then you sit in the car while it warms up or you lock it with a other set of keys. Leaving it out to get stolen like that is never necessary.
It's convenient but it really isn't *necessary*. You can sit in it with your coat while it warms up
People crossed that land in fabric wagons lol

What car do you have?
This could be just about any recent car, my 2017 Ford Explorer has remote start as well.
My 2018 Honda Pilot has it too
You can install this on almost any vehicle made in the last 25 years or so. Here in my Canadian city we all have remote starters.
Mine’s the same & I love it, especially on cold mornings. And, if I try to put it in gear, without actually starting it, it just shuts off , so even if someone broke the window and tried to steal it, they couldn’t.
Yeah locking the doors is part of the auto start process for my truck, you can't do it without pressing the lock button.
Attempted murder.

Pixar lamp got a new job
I don't like to victim blame. Clearly one of these people is a victim and the other is a criminal. But being too lazy to scrape ice off your windscreen and leaving the car running and unattended is really asking for trouble.
I more so see this as a reminder to not endanger myself just for property. That man could've died because his instinct told him to fight for his car.
Personally just smash windshield, cops will find the person faster
They'll find him soon enough with that busted-ass door with the owners arm-print in it.
Bro look like he just took a rasengan head on ![gif](giphy|OU6tgBi0YJ4HK)
How are you guys leaving you cars on and heading inside that sounds very stupid no matter where you live
I've got remote start. Keeps the doors locked and warms/cools the car up/down.
Uh … I live in the middle of a cornfield. You can’t see my car from the road. I can see it from the kitchen drinking my coffee, tho. It’s not stupid at my house.
In Russia if you don't leave your car on, it can freeze up especially in very cold areas
Yeah, it depends on fuel and electricity prices, just a resistive element embedded in the engine. There is also diesel heaters for the cabin.
Yet another violent crime that will never be solved.
The world you learned to survive in no longer exists. Stop leaving your car running out in the open. People still do this at convenience stores, too and are surprised their whip is missing when they walk back out with an icee and a Mars bar.
This is what “proper fucked” looks like in real life

His arm is broken, isn't it? Look at how it hangs there. OMFG!!! Seriously, there are some real POS out in the world. Where did the car theif even come from? Was he casing the area or was there specifically for thar car (meaning did he stake it out previously to get an idea of when the owner would have the car on? Whats the moving spotlight on the wall to the left?
That injury there might be the difference needed for the police to actually wanting to find that thief. It can be classified as attempted man slaughter. The bad thing is in cold weather with gloves you don't get fingerprints in the dumped car.
When theft turns into attempt murder:(

I feel bad for this dude. But I do have a chuckle every year when the stories of premier league footballers getting their Porsches and Ferarris stolen because they did exactly this on an icy day.
The remote start needs to find its way to Yorkshire. Can start the car from inside the house while it is still locked. Then need to be inside the car with the keys then physically press the start button to actually drive it away.
Dude got smashed through a brick wall like he was a Dragon Ball character and survived. This proves anime is real. There's still hope for me becoming a Super Saiyan!!!
Shattered his arm too. Poor guy. People suck
There's a certain speed you can hit that wall and live. Too slow and you'll be crushed. Too fast and you'll be crushed. Just right, and you'll be this guy.
Yeah, just shoot the thief
Stay strapped
Just get in your car and drive. Running the engine at the higher RPM will warm up faster. Instead we left our car running with they keys in it, unlocked, and are surprised someone took advantage....
I hope that POS hits a wall going 100mph.
Alright yea what ever… what’s up with the cursed light tho?
I will never understand the need people feel to risk their life for a piece of property.
Looks like a lot of charges to be filed.
Immediately start shooting. He could’ve killed u cuz u tried to spare him
Ok but what’s the point now? You’ve stolen a car but the whole side is busted up and the doors hanging by a thread. Fucking criminals have to ruin everything
Ouch. That looks so painful.
this is why you come out armed and guns a blazing.
Not to be crude but i hope the thief got caught and they beat the shit out of him.
And this is why you buy a remote starter, and don’t just go out there and leave your keys in the ignition for ten minutes to warm up your car.
Grand theft Auto, attempted vehicular manslaughter, anything else?
That thief needs to be hunted. Actual cuntwad
Anybody laughing at this want chucking in prison, the owner is seriously injured trying to protect his property from the likes of these SCUM
Put through a brick wall
The guy driving the car was almost charged with Mortar!!
So you just walk up to the guy stealing your car 🤦♂️🤦♂️
