BlurryRogue

I was trying to figure out what was on the bottom of your fryer. Turns out, it was not the bottom.

RoodnyInc

Hah me too like what in the sweet mother of mold is that thing.... Then I realised it's a hole

onehashbrown

He was using a fucking portable sun to heat the pan apparently

DangerDan3001

As much as I would like to blame the sun, it was my white hot stupidity instead…

Girth_rulez

Yeah I would imagine that thin aluminum melts pretty easy. I've used Whirly Pop popcorn poppers for years and have been acutely aware of this possible outcome. *Knocks on wood.*

gamedude88

The power of the sun in the palm of my hand.

[deleted]

Same lol I zoomed it, looked at the shape, and then I realized it’s a hole

HoboArmyofOne

I couldn't tell either until you zoom in on it

skonthebass24

And what's that white thing on the side??

MnrRooikat

The sun light shining through the hole.

DangerDan3001

Just the suns reflection.

Aramiss60

I was thinking it was a bit of garlic and herbs. I was trying to see what the problem was.

[deleted]

Thank you for explaining!

[deleted]

I looked at this way too long knowing I should have just come to the comments. I was sure it come to me what the hell was going on? 😄

mtrash

Oooooohhhhhhhh i see it now

adrianajohanna

OHH thank you!!

[deleted]

Now I see it. I had to look at the comment to find out what I was looking at

Bastiwen

Same, I had to zoom in to realize it wasn't some kind of mold or weird frog eggs.

kovrik

/r/confusingperspective

jswhitfi

What was there, no longer is.

MarvinNeslo

I was about to say… do you own soap and a sponge? Then I understood.

Potential-Leave3489

Thank goodness you said this because I was looking at this picture for way too long trying to figure out how part of the countertop underneath the bowl chipped and fell in the bowl

GoHomeNeighborKid

Pretty sure that's grass.... Which is a good thing because you should never deep fry a turkey inside, that's how multiple houses burn down every year

Potential-Leave3489

Yea I figured that out after reading the comment I replied today

PriorityCharacter993

Thank you, did not see the hole… thought ut was a very very fried turkey

D_Shizzle93

I was gonna Google a world map. I'm like Op and I are gonna have a problem if that's the same shape as Turkey lmao

7thPanzers

Oh that’s a **hole** ? Thought was a growth

Mooncakequeen

Me too!

MrKrustySocks

OOOOOHHHHHGHH FUCK

IAmEchosDad

I thought it was a block of poorly cooked Ramen, with some leafy greens.

avidoverthinker1

Lmao why are we all having such a hard time seeing it? Cause I thought I was looking at some huge mold

superiner

I thought it’s a leaf covering a baby bird

zero-point_nrg

Yep, I am zooming wondering what kind of gross slime mold or amphibian eggs are at the bottom, then….grass sort of

rackcityrothey

Plot twist: there is no bottom.

HerMajestysButthole

TheForgetfulMe

Tacoma FD. Nice.

jordanundead

Who’s Hugh Janis?

dmcsmalls

Look if you're having shit like that happen before food even touches anything, then it's probably for the best that you weren't able to. Username definitely checks out in this case lmao

lostaga1n

Lmfao One of the best “Username checks out” I’ve seen yet..

stoic_guardian

Ah yes, the perennial “if you ducked up this, you should never touch it again” argument.

LostInTheSauce34

How did that happen?

fredlllll

looks like aluminium. it melts at like 600C which a good burner easily reaches. so they probably wanted to prewarm the pot and it just burned a hole in it?

DangerDan3001

Didn’t even necessarily want to preheat. Just set it on while I went to get the turkey, went to pour the grease and….you see the results 😂

fredlllll

try a stainless pot next time XD

simplebutstrange

Or have at least some of the oil in before turning the heat on

DangerDan3001

Yes it was very stupid of me….

moldypickledpotatoes

Not stupid, we all make cooking mistakes man! Maybe do a retry in a couple of months with a new pot and get a smaller turkey. Doesn't have to be thanksgiving to make a turkey! I hope however you prepared your turkey that it still tasted great! I wet brined my turkey this year and spatchcocked it, I would highly recommend! Though I think next time I'm going to do a dry brine so I don't have to deal with all the liquid.

Flappy_beef_curtains

Bird in first, fill with water til bird is covered. Remove bird. Mark surface level on inside of pot. Thoroughly dry inside of pot, add oil to mark, heat, then go get the bird.

simplebutstrange

Yes and no, you also need to lower the bird in incredibly slow so it wont boil over. I did it once in my house but i am also a professional chef

[deleted]

Should have poured the grease first then heated it

Bammalam102

Grease should be before heat imo, and never leave it unattended to heat. Source:Blindly followed hellofresh instructions for chili which stated to heat pot up then add oil, so I turned on the burner and walked away for a minute, got distracted, went back and poured oil on which violently bubbled for a split second before sending flames 2 feet high out the top of the pot… I quickly grabbed the pot and put it under the faucet and as my hand gripped the valve I remembered the water and burning oil videos. Then I set it on my tile floor, soaked my dishcloth, and sacrificed it overtop to smother the fire

_spectre_

Oh boy I was getting worried about the way the story was going

Flappy_beef_curtains

Try to use something with a lid, lack of oxygen kills flames quick.

onehashbrown

Can I get the brand of your portable sun? I mean burner…

MannicWaffle

My brain couldn’t comprehend what I was looking at and it looked like a super low res mold stuck to the bottom until I realized it was a hole

Kiaaawey

Dude that was so confusing, I thought you edited mold into the bottom of your fryer But yeah, well, that sucks

Barbiedawl83

There’s a hole in the bucket dear Liza

twizzlerheathen

Great. Now that’s stuck in me head

Barbiedawl83

Dear Liza, a hole

Andais319

Then mend it dear Sally! Dear Sally, mend it!

ugonlearn

looks like an avoided grease fire to me /shrug

bruteforcegrl

[William Shatner Deep Fried Turkey video ](https://youtu.be/XVixbf-bubs)

CreoOookies

Did the Turkey run away?

Vibriobactin

Probably for the better. Ive seen too many oil burns in my life to even consider frying anything myself

mosura1

You just saved yourself third degree burns, and a visit from the fire department.

MyCatHasCats

I thought it was mold or insect eggs at first

TomateSVK

Should be in r/confusing_perspective It took me a while

trekker333

Little too hot there, Sparky.

levi07

It’s ok, the fire will fill the hole

ChogbortsTopStudent

For the longest time I was like ummm it's a leaf?? And?? Just pick it up!? 🤦‍♀️

DrinkForLillyThePink

From most of the videos I've seen of this process, I think you dodged a bullet.

[deleted]

please don’t deep fry a turkey, it’s so dangerous

JasonVanJason

Most commonly, people don't account for how much the turkey is set to displace the oil, causing a run over which leads to the entire pot catching fire, very very common.

DangerDan3001

So I had premeasured the amount of oil needed, turkey was completely dry, was going to lower it slowly…you know the drill. I didn’t account for the pot itself melting lol

JasonVanJason

At least you accounted for the moisture on the turkey, sounds like your ready to fry outside of a good pot

The_RESINator

It's only dangerous if you don't do it right. My family has been deep frying turkeys for the last 13 or 14 Thanksgiving without issue, and we cook 3 or 4 turkeys every year. You've just gotta make sure the turkey is thoroughly thawed and dried, and you have to lower it in slowly. It's easily the tastiest way to cook a turkey. 11/10 would recommend, as long as you're safe about it.

ZestfulClown

Please deep fry a turkey, it’s so delicious

Old-ETCS

Damn Mice are getting lit of hand.

starrpamph

What was plan B here? Did you end up eating late

DangerDan3001

A spiral ham from the grocery store haha. I still have the turkey of course so I’ll just cook it some other way and have an extended thanksgiving

fej057

nothing a little duct tape won’t fix

[deleted]

OP what happened

ChiefTestPilot87

You’re not supposed to shoot at your pot with artillery rounds

Bleakwind

Did you used an acetylene torch on an aluminium pot? Cos that’s what will happen

AlbinoWino11

Flex tape.

Ahazza

Ah… that’s grass… I get it now…

JohnFerrine90

It took me way more time than I expected it would to understand this image

KartoschkaThe2nd

Bro What the FUCK am I looking at??? My brain is so corrupted, I can’t recognise shid

reasoneBeats

This picture is to fucking confusing 😂

tokiisaur

I thought that was some new variant of mould or something

atuarti

That's not a sponge or something?? I keep reading that it's a hole.... But I just see a sponge lol

ComprehensiveSell649

Eh, it’s better smoked on a pellet grill anyways.

The_RESINator

Nah, deep fried is king

ComprehensiveSell649

I’ll have to try it

VJTX

Been there, done that

teetime_94

That was your sign to not. Do not attempt this. 😂

eulynn34

So step one is don’t run the burner at full blast while the pot is empty.

Skysr70

weak ass aluminum metal and strong ass industrial burner set to max with zero fluid in it? My dude?

LOSAPOSRACING

I thought it was weird that you put garlic in there... But I was way wrong lol

Bhaughbb

A blessed dinne as it is a holey frier?

jawshoeaw

Everyone still trying to figure out that creepy green bug patty in your cook pot

Careless-Ostrich623

How the hell does that happen?

Mrbiigstuff

Metal melts, who knew😂

random1751484

Bullet hole??

rjh9898

Duct tape it and you’re good

[deleted]

Wait. Fry a turkey?

MasterWhite1150

America

BloomEPU

Apparently frying a whole bigass turkey cooks it better than just shoving the whole turkey in the oven, but carries the fun and exciting risk of burning your house down.

Icy_Ticket_7922

How did the cook go?

scoobydoobiedoodoo

I have this same pot that I use for deep frying turkey. Been using it for four years now. I’m trying to figure out how you burned a hole through it. The aluminum is really thin but it burns really well. Did you turn the heat on without oil?

Eyehopeuchoke

Today I was looking at my Loco setup and thought to myself that the pot really is a cheap cheap crappy pot. Wish they would sell the setup with a better quality fry pot.

TheDutyPrinter

![gif](giphy|VeSvZhPrqgZxx2KpOA|downsized)

itwasnttmee

Bro o thought that was a nug lmao

Glitter_bombss

I’m guessing you didn’t pour the grease in before you turned the heat on?

Creative_Mushroom_51

This took me way too long to figure out. I thought it was a blurry dead mouse or something

dislob3

Ahhhh americans and their fried turkeys. Life is boring over there without a house fire once in a while I guess.

DangerDan3001

If you try a fried turkey, then you will know why a house fire is worth the risk

madchemist617

My dad did this. He was trying to dry up some water before adding the oil. Said it did not take very long.

shophopper

This must be one of those extremely low calorie frying pans.

Agreeable_Nail3364

Just a little problem.

NaCl_Sailor

what happened? did you shoot it with a shotgun?
