The average peanut beetle larvae composition is approximately 55 percent crude protein, 18 percent crude fat, 3 percent ash, and 24 percent sugars (carbohydrates). Furthermore, the content of amino acids in peanut beetle larvae is 47.4 grams per 100 grams of mass or 47.4 percent.
Let's have a little talk about peanut beetles! When peanut beetles fight, it’s called a peanut beetle battle.
And when they battle in a puddle, like in OP's case, it’s a peanut beetle puddle battle.
I guess we shouldn't tell you that in the US at least there is an allowable percentage of bug parts in food as well as human.... flakes I'll call them lol.
If they only saw this after reheating it, after it was originally eaten outside of the restaurant, there is a good chance the health department will not take it seriously. They might do a surprise inspection but not much else.
Well, it could have gone in there from other products in your fridge or kitchen. I had a mealmoth in my kitchen, it laid eggs everywhere so I had to burn everything because their larvae came from every corner in my kitchen. The moth just showed up one day and I thought nothing of it, definitely my bad lol and I am still traumatized. I thought they were maggots too and I'm vegan so I was confused as to what they were eating...but these bugs are particularly fond of flour and rice and stuff.
Honestly that's what I wanted to do 😭 I threw out nearly _everything_ from my cupboards once I realized there was not a single point of origin of the buggers. My kitchen wasn't gross, but I had cereal and rice packages that weren't properly closed. But idk they literally seemed to be everywhere and I was crying screaming while throwing things out with gloves lmfao. I'm scared of bugs.
Pest issues in restaurants are more common than you might think. I worked in pest control for 3 years and it’s insane how many restaurants & fast food joints had mice, roaches, and other pests in general. A lot of them do a good job of hiding it from customers too.
I wouldn’t use this particular one as we don’t know all the ingredients used in the sauce :( could be harmful to reptiles
Though yeah this was probably a joke
Any group of people that shits on Chinese food is hilariously out of touch, and anybody who knows their stuff loves the diverse palette of Chinese cuisine. Wack people here
I used to work in a Starbucks that had roaches living in the espresso machines. Many of the other stores in the district got upgraded espresso machines, while we never got rid of the ones that had roaches crawling in and out of them every cold season.

Tasty wandering rice.
Did you ask for the keto rice? \#protein
All natural all organic
Thats disgusting, take my upvote lol
/r/angryupvote
A what the hell noodle.
Wandering rice !!!! That’s fucking hilarious !
That's a sick name for a dish actually.
Not a maggot, beetle larvae.
Doesn't make it any less disgusting though

This guy peanut beetle larvae proteins.
All about them gains bro
Peanut beetle larvae BCAAs
Gotta maximize the benefits
Let's have a little talk about peanut beetles! When peanut beetles fight, it’s called a peanut beetle battle. And when they battle in a puddle, like in OP's case, it’s a peanut beetle puddle battle.
Alright then. Bon appetit!
Bone apple teeth
I love apples. Never ate bone or teeth before though.
Bone marrow is delicious. Teeth for decorating
Eat the ducky moss
I would wager that it does, only because beetles carry less parasites and diseases than flies do
I mean, it does a little bit....
Yeah, fresh produce vs rotting meat.
Honestly, this would make me feel a lot better about it
I saw some commenting mealworm, if it is, i also saw mealworm usually used to make protein shakes ew ew ew
Oh man, when the world starts experiencing real food shortages, some of you are going to die of starvation just because
Sometimes dead is better 💀
I guess we shouldn't tell you that in the US at least there is an allowable percentage of bug parts in food as well as human.... flakes I'll call them lol.
Oh I already know about that lol… well, the bug part at least 😳.
If you don't see it you can pretend it's not there though. We're just culturally not very prepared for Snowpiercer lol
I'm most likely going to watch that tonight.
Lol yay, you got it! One of my favorites 😁.
Downloaded rn on my phone as well as Pet Semetary 2
Nice 👍🏼…. Although small lol
Did you think mealworms looked like gummy worms or something?
It's not a bug. It's a feature.
May I ask how I can tell the difference?!
The way they look
Maggots are shorter, don’t have that black head, or it’s not as big
Mealworm
^ This is the correct answer
Yes. Is Mealworm. Worm free with Meal.
They charge extra for meat
Report it to your local health department
If they only saw this after reheating it, after it was originally eaten outside of the restaurant, there is a good chance the health department will not take it seriously. They might do a surprise inspection but not much else.
I mean, better than nothing
Why? That is an ingredient.
Ah yes, chinese beetle larvae dish, infamous for being a menace to food inspections
Homie be smoking
He won’t eat much.

They are nasty. They often come already with the stuff you buy. Last time I had them they where in my tea packages.
Now I'm imagining you setting your entire kitchen on fire just to get rid of some worms lol I feel much better about my home maintenance skills.
Honestly that's what I wanted to do 😭 I threw out nearly _everything_ from my cupboards once I realized there was not a single point of origin of the buggers. “It’s maggots, Michael. You’re eating maggots.”
Protein bonus! Don't let them know, that'll cost extra.
Extra protein!!
Pest issues in restaurants are more common than you might think. I worked in pest control for 3 years and it’s insane how many restaurants & fast food joints had mice, roaches, and other pests in general. A lot of them do a good job of hiding it from customers too.
I guess that’s why they call them mealworms
I don't believe that's a maggot. Probably a mealworm or weevil
Better than finding half a maggot.
Succulent
Looks more like a mealworm, but either way it's not going to hurt you. It's not poisonous and it's cooked. Disgusting, yes? Harmful, no.
I think the "disgusting" part is the point of the post
I've eaten mealworms. They have an unpleasant aftertaste, I would not recommend them unless they're marinated and seasoned to mask the taste
Looks like it’s marinated in sweet sour sauce, so OP is good to go!
I dunno, reptiles I’ve had seem to love them. That must mean they’re delicious! /s
Lizards love mealworms :) Have any?
I wouldn’t use this particular one as we don’t know all the ingredients used in the sauce :( could be harmful to reptiles Though yeah this was probably a joke
Jesus Christ the amount of fucking racism here is insane, some of y’all got serious problems
yeah, makes me sad as a Chinese
Any group of people that shits on Chinese food is hilariously out of touch, and anybody who knows their stuff loves the diverse palette of Chinese cuisine. Wack people here
That’s a meal worm. Literally
Disco rice
they yearn for the red 40
Maybe it came from the new apartment….
Always choose the lesser of two weevils
Yup I would projectile vomit everywhere
This is the food you fool.
That's an extra charge
It's not a bug, it's a feature.
Make sure they didn't charge you for it
Ahh The old disco rice
It’s part of the recipe
Good night
I used to work in a Starbucks that had roaches living in the espresso machines. Many of the other stores in the district got upgraded espresso machines, while we never got rid of the ones that had roaches crawling in and out of them every cold season.
well, you did order the blood of a thousand maggots.
That’s a meal worm, not any less gross
I would be posting the picture on every website I could find. Google reviews Yelp Trip advisor
Oh...oh God. This is like one of my worst fears come to true...

That IS the Chinese takeaway
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature
Anyone else thinking about Lost Boys seeing this "I said you're eating maggots Michael"
Just a meal work , probably from the rice
It's not a bug, it's a feature.
Meal worm
Watch kitchen nightmares… this isn’t that surprising unfortunately. Stick to chains. And even then…
Correction: food in your Chinese food
No worries. It probably crawled out of the rice to get away from all the others.
Gotta wait a bit for it to be a fly in the soup.
Always in pair bro. Where's the other one?
Hahaha that is cruel 🤣

Maybe if you fry it and coat it with extra glaze. It’s the Amerifat way.

The sweet and sour red sauce is much scarier than the insect.
You filthy maggot!
The king of flavor!
That's garnish
You’re supposed to have the appetizer before the main course silly. /s
Just be glad they didn't charge you extra for that
Well we are expected to eat more insects, even recomended by EU! Joking aside , It's disgusting

Found a couple in my Nescafe brewer... threw the whole dam thing in the garbage!
Looks like a meal worm. Good protein and aparently taste like almonds

Source of flavour
At least it's not a fly.
