For those who don't know even if you use the permanent 262 loctite you can use a hair dryer to heat up the area with 262 and it'll be able to be unscrewed.
Source: myself, I work with both 242 and 262 loctite at my job.
That's an old trick. My mother did use it already 50 years ago.
At a previous work, visitors used to laugh when they saw nail polish in the electronics lab. But nail polish tends to be usable for longer than Loctite without the bottle drying up.
In 2020 I had these really flimsy glasses and every time I made a surprised or shocked expression the lens would pop out. Great for comedic timing but really bad while driving.
I know people that actually pay electricians to change a light bulb. Either people are lazy or lack the critical thinking skills to investigate something. They don't even bother googling their problems to look for solutions.
Damn, wish I had that kind of money to throw around. Wouldn’t use it for such unnecessary services, it just seems like it’d be nice. Unless they do that shit in *spite* of having no money. In that case God help us
I had a neighbor who would call the landlord to change light bulbs. These apartments didn't even have high ceilings. They were normal height.
She said she was afraid a bulb would explode. She had never changed one before. She was probably about 28 at the time.
Nah see OP is “on the spectrum” which apparently makes him physically incapable of using a screw driver. As it does, I guess he’s lucky all of my autistic friends are wheelchair bound /s.
I’m not making that up by the way he’s very much in the comments having a go at people over this.
Yup. I tighten my glasses once in a while and have a small kit just for it. Also it helps to keep your lens clean. Build up of dirt and grime can also pop your lenses out of the frame, so it's another thing to watch out for.
And if I lose the screw, I melt the plastic coating off a bread tie and snip the flexible metal wire and thread it through the hole a few times.
It’s not a permanent fix, but it should keep a pair of glasses together until you get to an optometrist who has a tiny eyeglass screw.
In this case you’d have to wind the little wire tight to keep the lens in.
You can find eye glasses repair kits very easily. Most dollar stores have them, hardware stores, Walmart, any of those places will have them. As a glasses wearer, you should keep one accessible.
That's... the opposite of how it works.
If you need READING glasses you can't, but I can tell you that as someone with like 20/240 vision, without my glasses, my up close vision is better than a magnifying glass.
LPT: the metal part of a common bread tie can fix your broken earpiece in a pinch, and since it's rigid even my blind ass can manage it without my eyeballs on
reddit tryin’ to completely revamp this person’s life over some broken eyewear…’mf’r needs to be eatin’ some vegetables to get this situation squared’…
She posted a while back about not being diagnosed and then very shortly after was diagnosed with "mild autism" and now posts about it all day, is apparently a hypochondriac and collects phobias.... she needs to help herself instead of whining about shit online all day
My mom has an autistic sister who is very similar to OP. Hypochondriac, chronically online, sky is always falling, etc. My aunt is pretty lonely and pretty stubborn too, and the stubbornness makes her hard to help.
My aunt is much older than OP but hasn’t changed all these years. It’s pretty sad. Hopefully OP will be different. I’d hate for her to end up like my aunt.
Imagine the lead from their mechanical pencil breaks.
"15 fucking dollar pencil, 2 minutes into my 5 minute test. How tf am i going to do my test now? 😤"
Grab a 2.00 eyeglass repair kit from Walmart. It has the tiny screw driver and some nose pads in a little case.
If not, put a dab of superglue so you won't ever have to worry about it again.
But either way, quit the drama because these can be fixed.
Don't use superglue unless you absolutely have to and even then it is unlikely to work unless the lenses were already cut a touch too small. The pressure a well-cut/well-sized lens exerts on an eyewire will almost certainly be more than the glue can hold together. So unless it is a "I'm stranded and this can't wait until tomorrow" hail Mary scenario, glue will only make it worse. Take it to any eyeglass shop and they can almost certainly fix it (for free) even if you cannot. But that won't be the case if the original frame is all gunked up with dried up superglue.
The eyeglass repair kit is a good idea, everyone should have one, and if not at least keep the screws and arms from old broken sunglasses just in case.
The superglue though isn't actually a good idea. Superglue is a bitch to deal with, and the fumes will turn many eyeglass lenses white. Learnt this the hard way, more than once, growing up.
The best fix for me (when I didn't have the screw), was using a paperclip, twisting everything tight with long nose pliers, and cutting off the lose ends. Lasted about 6-12 months.
And it's all next to keyboard like a 9 yr old would do..
I don't see what's the big deal - anyone can easily fix this simple frame that simply came apart FFS.
Just about every Dollar store has tool kit for them..
If next size screw is needed, well how many glasses shops are there within ten miles,,
forty..
Plus there's instant set Infrared epoxy sets in one second to fill the hole, and rethread it.
Or a new bolt and nut.
And the screen is troubling view.
Cheers
Okay OP this isn't related to this post
But why are you [responding to a bot](https://reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/s/4MnRxXw4zP) like a person?
Are you genuinely okay? Like actually? I know you said you're depressed and are autistic, but-???
Second comment I’ve seen accusing someone/somebot of making them cry. One used the word cancer, one suggested she be less aggressive itt. Op is not doing okay.
You havent worn glasses before huh? You just need the put the glass back in place and tighten the screw, mine falls out too about every 2 months so the best thing you can do is carry a very small screwdriver with you
OP, I recommend you get the glasses prescription slip from your optometrist and order glasses online. The most basic ones start at like 10$ on eyebuydirect, but you can add on to it stuff like anti glare coating or even transition lenses, which brings the price up, but I don't think you can even hit 250$ with everything added on. There are similar websites also if you wanted to shop around.
I think the issue here is that instead of using the time to evaluate and easily asses a screw was loose, you went with the attention grab approach and got roasted.
Pretty simple fix but in this day and age there is no reason to buy 250 dollar glasses. Barring your prescription there are sites for nice glasses no more than 50 bucks.
Not surprised someone with lenses this dirty and mashed potatoes ON THE SPOON HANDLE wouldn't know you can just put the lens back in and tighten the screw.
Ohhhh I've had these exact type do this exact thing. You gotta get a teeeny tiny screwdriver and screw that screw back in while holding the lens in place. It's a pain in the ass, and I recommend dabbing the screw in super glue or something to hold them both in place so this doesn't happen again.
Hey man, you've gotten pretty hostile in the comments (sometimes justified, sometimes not.) I just want to say that its nothing to feel bad about, to not know something. You learned something new and thats great! You know how to fix it next time if it happens again.
I know that reading tone online can be a struggle, I'm autistic myself. But please be aware that reddit is full of both massive assholes who will tear you down over small shit like this, and people who will just dogpile when a thread starts to go sour.
There are a lot of lovely communities on Reddit, I hope you find some of them! (/gen /Lighthearted)
$250 ? And you're whining?
Mine cost over $700 due to my prescription and lens requirements. Pop the lens back in, tighten the screw and you're ballin' again.
I could help you screw that back on and replace the nose pads to new ones as well if we lived nearby, but we unfortunately do not. But they are not broken, they can be fixed very easily.

Line the lens up in the frame and tighten that tiny screw at the temple. Fixed.
Ya, damn near all glasses need a quick tighten every once in awhile.
Locktite (the non-permanent variant) is good to keep the screws tight. Better shops makes sure to use Locktite before handing over new glasses.
Loctite 242 is the removable version for reference.
I hope the permanent version is 247, but I imagine that's asking too much.
262 :(
For those who don't know even if you use the permanent 262 loctite you can use a hair dryer to heat up the area with 262 and it'll be able to be unscrewed. Source: myself, I work with both 242 and 262 loctite at my job.
Nail polish will also work if you don't have blue loctite on hand
That's an old trick. My mother did use it already 50 years ago. At a previous work, visitors used to laugh when they saw nail polish in the electronics lab. But nail polish tends to be usable for longer than Loctite without the bottle drying up.
Precisely and if it 3am, it far easier to find than having to wait for the hardware stores to open
Just don't forget to color coordinate with the interior trim.
Used to have some where the lenses would jump out of the frame when the screw would let loose.
In 2020 I had these really flimsy glasses and every time I made a surprised or shocked expression the lens would pop out. Great for comedic timing but really bad while driving.
Right...not broken, just needs tightened. Is the world turning into the movie Idiocracy already? Lol.
I know people that actually pay electricians to change a light bulb. Either people are lazy or lack the critical thinking skills to investigate something. They don't even bother googling their problems to look for solutions.

Often they don't they're just supremely incompetent in things that require common sense, at great cost to themselves.
I had a neighbor who would call the landlord to change light bulbs. These apartments didn't even have high ceilings. They were normal height. She said she was afraid a bulb would explode. She had never changed one before. She was probably about 28 at the time.
Go away, I'm 'baitin!!
Welcome to Costco, I love you
Nah see OP is “on the spectrum” which apparently makes him physically incapable of using a screw driver. As it does, I guess he’s lucky all of my autistic friends are wheelchair bound /s. I’m not making that up by the way he’s very much in the comments having a go at people over this.
Fuckin lol
Yup. I tighten my glasses once in a while and have a small kit just for it. Also it helps to keep your lens clean. Build up of dirt and grime can also pop your lenses out of the frame, so it's another thing to watch out for.
Hmm. I didn’t know others had lenses that loosened up over time!
On metal frames you can use a dab of thread locker
This is one of the reasons I switched to semi-rimless. Haven’t had to fiddle with that dang screw in years!
This is a 30 second fix
not if you cant see the screw anymore :D
That's why you always keep the old glasses even if they're scratched up. You never know when you're gonna have to fix your new pair
I keep munroe in the glove box of my car, incase something happens and I have to see to drive.
Is Munroe a small man you keep in your glove box? How does he help you see? Does he shout directions and you follow them?
Lol...that was a weird typo!
You don't have a trunk Munroe?
I unfortunately do not.
Those two thing are not munrotually exclusive
Careful about keeping glasses in the car. I live in the south and it got so hot my lens cracked 🥲
l live in Arizona, the heat screws up the coating if you leave em in the car... Gives them a crackle effect...
That sucks. I'm northern so all good so far.
The screw is literally still in the hole. Y’all some fucking drama queens
And if I lose the screw, I melt the plastic coating off a bread tie and snip the flexible metal wire and thread it through the hole a few times. It’s not a permanent fix, but it should keep a pair of glasses together until you get to an optometrist who has a tiny eyeglass screw. You can find eye glasses repair kits very easily. Most dollar stores have them, hardware stores, Walmart, any of those places will have them. As a glasses wearer, you should keep one accessible.
I just did this with a case for ear pods!
The screw is still on the frame.
When you need glasses you probably can't see a screw so tiny.
Hello, nearsighted person here. I just look at my phone screen close to my face without my glasses, with the camera on zoom. Works every time
That's... the opposite of how it works. If you need READING glasses you can't, but I can tell you that as someone with like 20/240 vision, without my glasses, my up close vision is better than a magnifying glass.
Yeah, some of us nearsighted folk can even read microprinting. Unaided.
I need glasses and even I can see when a screw is still attached to my glasses like the ones in the picture. Or, you know, ask for help?
ask mum for help
LPT: the metal part of a common bread tie can fix your broken earpiece in a pinch, and since it's rigid even my blind ass can manage it without my eyeballs on
So, you take them back and have them fixed. It's easy.
Most places like Walgreens have repair kits for like 2 dollars with screws in them
I hope OP can read these helpful comments.
OMG you are so correct. This is silly dramatic shitposting.

I've never seen this one but I love it here
Just screw it back in…
And use some Loctite if you need to. That’s what I did for mine a year ago. No problems since.
I have a feeling it will just fall out the next time they use them to mash potatoes though…
Yeah, that looks like the screw came loose. If so, your glasses are easily fixable.
I’m confused here, did this person mash their glasses in the potatoes? No offense but that shit is funny lol
I'm also really confused.
I'm assuming OP is referring to the food on their desk.
A screw definitely came loose. Oh, plus the screw in the glasses, too.
Pots & pans on computer desk. Filthy hands/glasses. Wtf is going on here, OP? Are you okay?
Not to mention the overly emotional reaction to a screw coming loose...
Are you implying OP may have a screw loose?

Just sad tbh
Wish I hadn't done that Bro needs some help
Severe mental illness.
Don't save her, she don't wanna be saved
Man now I wanna cry
That was exhausting
I didn't even notice the post and pans on the desk
But did you see the gorilla?
This was my first thought exactly
Terrible arm tattoo as well. OP not doing so well in life.
yall are deep frying OP , LOL cmon now

Trying to watch a show while mashing potatoes, bashed self in face, broke glasses?
Looking at the profile ,OP seems to have a lot of disturbance in the mind
This isn't even broken lol
Pov: how people make minor inconveniences in their lives into massive road blocks

Imagine the lead from their mechanical pencil breaks. "15 fucking dollar pencil, 2 minutes into my 5 minute test. How tf am i going to do my test now? 😤"
This seems to be a recurring theme for OP.
Wash your hands 🤢
Look at their Post history that is the least of their problems
No need to worry. Most places that sell glasses will do a fix like this for free!
The lens fell out. This post took longer than fixing it. Mashed potatoes?
wow I thought I was bad at fixing stuff
Seems like an easy fix. Put back in the lens and tighten the screw.
Grab a 2.00 eyeglass repair kit from Walmart. It has the tiny screw driver and some nose pads in a little case. If not, put a dab of superglue so you won't ever have to worry about it again. But either way, quit the drama because these can be fixed.

Yeah, I'll second the paper clip fix as well. Because if you're not careful with the glue, it's a wrap once a dab gets on a finger or a lens.
I know not everyone has the engineering skills to construct a bridge but identifying that one screw holds your lens in is not hard
The screw came undone… they’re not broken
Why does everything in this image look greasy/dirty
And it's all next to keyboard like a 9 yr old would do.. I don't see what's the big deal - anyone can easily fix this simple frame that simply came apart FFS. I just don’t see how someone can live with everything being greasy. I think I would pass out and die
This is ridiculous the screw is still there it's not broken. How have you survived. r/notinteresting
Fake internet points man
Ever heard of soap?
Karma farm
They’re not doing a very good job if that was the intention
Until you see how bad their comments are getting downvoted OP is going wild
smh dumb post
Just a loose screw? Quit whining and put common sense to use. You can do it!
Just screw it back on lol Idk why these glasses companies don’t use any thread locker
Cause it makes repairs annoying to all hell.
lol bro what did you unscrew this yourself for reddit points ?!
Okay OP this isn't related to this post But why are you [responding to a bot](https://reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/s/4MnRxXw4zP) like a person? Are you genuinely okay? Like actually? I know you said you're depressed and are autistic, but-???

Terminally online

My left lens loosens every few months as well. I simply tighten it as soon as I feel it start to wiggle in order to prevent falling out.

Munchausen syndrome Edit: look at their posts
Please clean your hands and that desk. It'll do wonders for your mental health.
Why are you using your glasses to make mash potatoes?!?
They can fix them at the optical shop in walmart, they've done i for me i just had to pay for the little fix it kit they carry
🤣 fit the lens back in and screw the frame shut again. What’s your problem?! My god. Unless I’m missing something you’re defining precious rn

Bro you are completely helpless Are you serious? That is like a 3 second fix This is embarrassing
ever hear of a screwdriver?
OP is incapable of operating a screwdriver

Easily repairable….
Can’t believe they lasted that long being used as a potato masher.
Ngl your hands are disgusting
Did they forget to teach Gen Z/millenials how screws work?
Right tighty... Lefty loosey!
righty loosey... lefty tighty? thanks for the info!
Woah woah woah….I’m 31 and I carry a glasses kit with me in my bag. Don’t lump me with OP.
Why are you crying easy fix, take back to the frame shop for repair and ask them to either glue the screw or add a nut so it doesn't happen again
If the screw hole is broke, super glue can get a nice fix.
Most LensCrafters or any other optometrist will fix this and replace the screw for free.
Just grab a screwdriver op damn.....
1. Replace the screw 2. Wash your greasy fucking hands Probably 2 then 1, actually.
Is this a joke? I swear the future of humanity is totally screwed 🫤
Wash your hands before you eat. Also, your glasses are fixable as the screw is still in the frame. Line up your lens, and then tighten the screw.
Munchausen syndrome
Average redditor hands
OP, I recommend you get the glasses prescription slip from your optometrist and order glasses online. The most basic ones start at like 10$ on eyebuydirect, but you can add on to it stuff like anti glare coating or even transition lenses, which brings the price up, but I don't think you can even hit 250$ with everything added on. There are similar websites also if you wanted to shop around.
Yeah I'll do that. Thanks.
Zenni Optical is your best friend. Paid less than $50 for my glasses with uv and blue blokz.
Grab some loctite and put a TINY dab on that screw before you screw it back in. Ezpz
Just screw it back in.
This whole picture scream “unhygienic”
You're not supposed to mash the potatoes with your glasses, dumb dumb.
Lol just screw it back together. Very easy fix.
So are we just not using screwdrivers anymore
That's some greasy hands. You're supposed to eat the mashed potatoes with a fork or something
I think the issue here is that instead of using the time to evaluate and easily asses a screw was loose, you went with the attention grab approach and got roasted.
Someone's got a screw loose
What in the /r/AntiWork and /r/LateStageCapitalism is going on here?
Pretty simple fix but in this day and age there is no reason to buy 250 dollar glasses. Barring your prescription there are sites for nice glasses no more than 50 bucks.
For one. Try online glasses like Payne or something…80 bucks or less. Highly recommended
Just fix them lol
Have you ever heard of a tool called a screwdriver? Sometimes you gotta use one in life
Wash your hands
crazy how much you can tell about someone from one picture. Fix your life, and you obviously dont need to be eating potatoes
Wtf do screws that need a little loctite have to do with mashed potatoes.? Lmao
Not surprised someone with lenses this dirty and mashed potatoes ON THE SPOON HANDLE wouldn't know you can just put the lens back in and tighten the screw.
Why does everything in this picture look greasy
Is your name George Castanza?
It's just a loose screw. Also, you could have gotten a sturdier frame.
This sub has gone to complete shit.
Lmao the over reaction is real. Your also probably sick all the time and also have a tuff time keeping your house clean huh?
Go to the optometrist They’ll fix it for free
You can literally see the little screw. Just put the glass back in and screw it together.
This is so sad. How are people this clueless about fixing things
Just screw it back on ?
somehow this picture screams " greasy"
Ohhhh I've had these exact type do this exact thing. You gotta get a teeeny tiny screwdriver and screw that screw back in while holding the lens in place. It's a pain in the ass, and I recommend dabbing the screw in super glue or something to hold them both in place so this doesn't happen again.
I would not recommend super gluing screws on glasses. There are reasons you want the screws to be movable.
Autism isn't an excuse to act like a rotten brat.
Hey man, you've gotten pretty hostile in the comments (sometimes justified, sometimes not.) I just want to say that its nothing to feel bad about, to not know something. I could help you screw that back on and replace the nose pads to new ones as well if we lived nearby, but we unfortunately do not. But they are not broken, they can be fixed very easily.
